5 Process: smart External Service Provider (ESP) Processing The process smart ESP processing is to be mapped between the OEM smart, a supplier and an ESP. The supplier receives forecast delivery schedules from smart and works them into its sales scheduling. The current stock level, the agreed VMI min./max. limits and the forecast delivery schedules provide the basis for requirements planning and supply to the ESP s warehouse. The ESP is represented in the SAP system as a special stock partner. The ESP or smart transfer EDI messages to the supplier using various posting keys. Messages contain information such as: Goods receipt confirmations Stock reports Picking confirmation from the ESP to smart s production line smart parts consumption confirmation (removal confirmation) The solution enables automatic processing of both smart s and the external service provider s EDI messages. 5

6 Process: smart External Service Provider (ESP) Processing The goods receipt confirmation is used to synchronize with the data for supplying the ESP and also forms the basis for mapping transit stock in the system The stock report can be used to synchronize the stock situation of the ESP The ESP picking confirmation is used for the automatic stock posting when items are picked from the ESP warehouse and sent to the smart production line The smart parts consumption confirmation (removal confirmation) causes the smart line stock to be reduced and triggers the internal invoicing for self-billing Various stocks in the component supplier s system are to be visible/traceable (e.g. ESP stock/smart production line stock/ ) A SAP ACS that has been adapted for smart is also available for VMI supply of the ESP warehouse (complying with min./max. stock limits). For example, this can be used to take into account the transit/esp/production line stock 6
