Role Dimensions Reports to: Department: Job Family: Location: GM Technology & Support Technology Services Technical Specialist New Plymouth Direct Reports: 3 Total Employees: 3+ Position Band/Grade: K23 Purpose of role The Head of Analytics (HOA) will work with the Executives and Senior Leadership teams to define and set the Bank s strategy for enterprise analytics as a business discipline, and for using data as an asset to meet Bank objectives. This role will be responsible for analytics support to Executives and for driving advanced analytics (such as machine learning) to drive improvements and innovation across the Bank.

3 The Head of Analytics will empower a hybrid analytics model across the Bank, building and managing an analytics centre of excellence, and building analytics capability across the business and supporting the internal BI community. Role Specific Areas of Responsibility Develop, define and drive the Banks strategy with regard to the use of analytics for business improvement, innovation and growth opportunities Collaborate with senior leaders to set policy and standards regarding the use of analytics in the organization, ensuring that appropriate controls exist for analytics that serve as a source of data for regulatory reports Create mechanisms to use data as a strategic asset throughout the enterprise Innovate and expand the organization's research and analytics offerings Oversee the development of analytic metrics that establish a consistent, coherent approach to data throughout the organization to tie analytics into all enterprise functions Make data accessible to people who might need it Promote analytic usage and skills among management and employees through programs that include training, mentoring, and the selection of appropriate analytics tools Provide analytics results directly to business users, allowing them to identify trends and insights; also freeing data specialists from mundane queries and reporting Ensure that business reports based on analytics of controlled data are consistent and representative of the true state of the business Create a culture that promotes data-driven decisions backed by investigation and collaboration around data Locate the new and/or best sources for data to drive more effective and efficient analytics (internal and external sources) Measure the ROI of analytics initiatives and create a standard benchmark program for measuring analytics value Represent the Bank to external parties in the development of industry analytical policies and standards Scan the horizon for emerging analytical skills, techniques, technologies and, where appropriate, tools to ensure their timely introduction for competitive advantage. Research and develop new data analytics products or services to expand markets and grow company revenue. Key Relationships and Governance The HOA will hold stakeholder relationships across the business and industry. The HOA will contribute to Bank strategy and planning, IT and analytics decision-making, data acquisition and use, analytical tools acquisition and methodologies, IT strategy and planning, the ethics of data use, risk and compliance, and marketing strategy and planning. The HOA needs to influence and build strategic relationships with the following stakeholders:

4 Board The Head of Analytics will provide periodic reports to the board on the current condition of the Banks analytical programs and the actions that need to be taken to maintain or strengthen them. The Head of Analytics may also take specific analytical process issues, concerns or policy questions to the board from time to time. Executive Leadership Team The Head of Analytics routinely engages with the ELT in a two-way dialogue to understand the highest-level goals of the Bank as input to the analytics strategy, and to ensure that all of these stakeholders understand the key analytics governance issues for internal planning and external communication. IT Leadership Team Most, if not all, analytics initiatives will be implemented or integrated into the internal information systems and capabilities, or cloudbased services, with deep implications for IT. The Head of Analytics needs to build a strong partnership with the IT leaders to execute an effective enterprise analytics strategy. Risk & Legal The Head of Analytics consults about the legal considerations of using data from external sources, performing certain types of analysis (especially those that involved personal information), and the conditions of analytics monetization or opening the company's analytics into a public domain. Marketing The Head of Analytics works with the Marketing leaders to ensure that the analytics based on customer data assets are properly used and managed consistent with the long-term and broader enterprise analytics and information management strategies. The Head of Analytics also helps to ensure ethical customer data use regulatory compliance. The Head of Analytics may be involved in developing specific analytical and data science capabilities that the Marketing leaders exploit for competitive advantage in the enterprise's target market. People & Culture Part of the digital business strategy will be to plan for, source and develop analytics talent. The Head of Analytics needs to partner with P&C to conduct strategic workforce planning and develop a strategy to close gaps in data science, and other analytical skills and competencies like data visualization that are key to the execution of the analytics strategy. Senior Leaders The Head of Analytics solicits input, and gains an understanding of the analytics issues and opportunities from each business unit and the key process owners, and integrates their requirements into the development of the enterprise analytics strategy. Enterprise data and analytics service providers The Head of Analytics will develop and maintain relationships with key external providers of data and analytical services. The goal will be to ensure effective spend and quality, and the timely delivery of key analytics output. The involvement of the enterprise head of purchasing or chief procurement officer will be important here. Person Specification Education: A degree in computer science, business analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics, social sciences or related fields. Academic qualification or

5 professional training in business administration and legal and regulatory areas is also desirable. Experience: 5+ years of experience in analytics leadership or comparable experience Proven track record of working with big data and social data, as well as cloudbased delivery of solutions The HOA should be businessperson first and foremost, and possess substantial operational experience, strong domain knowledge and a keen understating of how to leverage IT and data analytics tools Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading crossfunctional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts Preferably five or more years of experience in information-intensive industries or digitally advanced enterprises Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and data models, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards Strategy and management consulting experience desirable Knowledge/Skills: Solid grounding in applied mathematics and statistics, including expertise in applying these techniques to structured and unstructured data Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain analytic process concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists; able to sell ideas and process internally at all levels, including the board Ability to share information across business functions and disciplines; manage stakeholders with diverse interests; make actionable recommendations Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and presentation skills Strong, results-driven personality with a high level of enthusiasm, energy and confidence Should be passionate and bring expertise in creating a data "discovery-driven" culture Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; building teams and consensus; getting things done through others not directly under his/her supervision; working ethically and with integrity
