Product presentations WS 01 - PSIcontrol V4.3 In 2011, we have established a new focus for our network control system PSIcontrol. The new emphasis areas are IT security, intelligent network management, product approach, release management, and maintenance. Our workshop 2014 presents the highlights of the present version 4.3. During the Info Days, PSIcontrol V4.3 is rolled out to the public. Version 4.3 includes both brand new functions and existing functions which have been proven in specific customer projects and are now available to all customers. High voltage and medium voltage are now modelled in a unified way. This simplifies the data exchange with external systems and enables Network Application functions for medium voltage. The infeed management supports the network operator in handling the increasing number of decentralised infeeds such as wind farms and solar farms. The Dispatcher Training System has been expanded and the Post Mortem Analysis has been completely re-engineered. The user interface has been completely updated and expanded by dialogs which support you in the daily work with the system. Presenting all new and improved functions would exceed the time available in this workshop. Therefore, we have selected the most important functions. WS 02 - Xchange V1.2x The increasing reporting and publication requirements mean that not only the operators of the control system but also Office users need access to the control system data. In addition, various corporate applications also need access and data transfer to external systems such as data warehousing is required. These requirements necessitate external access to the control system which contradicts the simultaneous requirement for more IT security. IT security principles do not permit direct access of critical process infrastructure components (including the control system). Therefore, access to the data in the control system is actually not possible. In response to the above contradictory requirements, the business unit Electrical Energy of PSI AG has designed and implemented the Xchange module. The data stored in the various computers of the control system are exported to Xchange. Xchange is in essence a central data warehouse in the process world and can independently respond to external requests. All physical and logical access connections from the outside into the process world end in Xchange. Xchange protects the components of the process world by acting as a protective shield for them while being embedded seamlessly in the infrastructure. In addition to the described main tasks, Xchange provides and will provide numerous additional services and functions. The workshop presents the already implemented services and the possible extensions

WS 03 - PSIvpp - Product for Virtual Power Plants PSI AG has developed PSIvpp for modelling and managing Virtual Power Plants (VPP). A VPP is the aggregate of decentralised and usually rather small generators, storages, and controllable loads. It allows economic marketing of the components aggregated in the VPP and enables optimised management of the increasing forecast risk. PSIvpp is a product of PSI Energy Markets GmbH (PSI EM) and the business unit Electrical Energy of PSI AG. It has been developed on the basis of decades of experience in the areas of control systems, energy trading, marketing, and communication as well as a related research project. The workshop presents the product and demonstrates that PSIvpp models the entire following chain in a single integrated solution: Market integration Powerful communication technology Transmission of the control commands Realtime acquisition and visualisation of load and generation data Decentralised intelligent controllers Support of trading and portfolio management processes The fully featured and integrated VPP solution PSIvpp is presently the only of its kind in the energy market. WS 04 - PSIcommand V3.3 Fault clearance being the traditional strength of PSIcommand, new functions for plannable work (maintenance, construction, modification) have been the development focus of PSIcommand V3.3. This function complex as released in V3.3 shows a level of maturity which compares well with all competitor products. In addition, the multi-criteria optimisation tool Qualicision is a unique selling point which is now integrated as a standard feature in PSIcommand V3.3. In the areas order planning, administration, dispatching, monitoring, and documentation, PSIcommand increases the efficiency of the operational network management while maintaining the order throughput. The workshop presents the following highlights of release V3.3: New planning board for optimised dispatching of the planned work (basis PSI-GUI) Structuring of tasks in sub-tasks Integration of Qualicision for multi-criteria optimisation Interface with PSImobile via web service - 5 -

Innovations WS 05 - Outage Management Outage Management supports operators of electric networks in coordinating work orders in the network. Usually, the work orders directly or indirectly affect the supply status of end customers. For safety reasons, working on electrical equipment beyond a certain voltage or current is permitted only in de-energised state unless special measures for working in the energised state are taken. Outage Management is required for the planned new construction and modification as well as other plannable work (mainly maintenance measures). The Outage Management system presented in the workshop is the project-specific solution for Swiss Railways (SBB). It includes Planned Outage Management (POM) for long-term (one year) and short-term (two weeks) planning of outages. The execution of outages and sequences of individual switching measures can also be performed with the Outage Management functions of the process system (PSIcontrol) and/or the form system (PSIcommand). The planned outages can be checked with the look-ahead network calculation functions. This allows checking of the consequences/effects of the planned outages in comparison with the expected switching state of network at the time of the outage. After a successful check, the planned outage can be released/approved. Immediately prior to the execution of the outage, the same look-ahead check is performed again. Each individual switching operation is checked again for possible interlock violations. WS 06 - Mobile clients in Energy Network Management The PSImobile software is provided by the business unit Electrical Energy of PSI AG for installation on mobile clients such as laptops and smart phones. PSImobile originated in the PSIcommand environment which is the solution for Workforce Management (WFM) in network operations. Applications of this kind require communication between the central office and the dispatched mobile crew. For this reason, the very first version of PSIcommand already included mobile components. PSImobile now has a 10-year product history. In a modern society, the general trend for more mobile communication also applies for professional computer applications. Prior to the liberalisation of the energy markets, the network management systems have been very compartmentalised. In the present environment, there are now increasing requirements for external access. This trend also includes the requirements for mobile operation of network control systems. Based on these requirements, we have expanded PSImobile with functions for PSIcontrol. The workshop presents the features of the mobile solution PSImobile in combination with PSIcontrol and PSIcommand based on practice examples. In particular, we would like to direct you to the presentation of the new app for outage reports which informs customers about existing outages and enables reporting of new outages

WS 07 - Hierarchical network control The majority of photovoltaic plants are connected to the medium and low voltage networks of the German grid system. In addition, 50% of the installed wind farm power is connected to the medium voltage network. Both the shift of the generators to the medium and low voltage networks and the non-simultaneous generation and consumption due to the volatility of wind and solar energy sources pose new challenges. In particular for medium and low voltage networks, new concepts for process management are required in order to ensure high availability energy supply with minimum network expansion. The workshop presents a possible approach for the low voltage network. A Smart Telecontrol Unit (STU) installed in the distribution substation monitors the local limit values (voltage range, equipment utilisation) and provides automatic control if needed. In addition, setpoint values are sent to the STU from the functions for decentralised infeed management which are integrated in the central network management. Then the STU sends the corresponding reduction commands to the generating plants in the low voltage network. The objective of the workshop is to show approaches for hierarchical network management based on the results and experiences from the Smart Operator pilot project. The purpose of this process management concept is to limit the flood of data (network elements, counter values, measured values) which have to be centrally managed. The local control intelligence could also provide emergency operation services for the low voltage island in which it is installed. The workshop presents the management of decentralised infeeds as a highlight of the relevant pilot functionality. WS 08 - External applications in Windows on large-format screens The feature presented in the workshop is a unique selling point of PSIcontrol which is available only in the combination of PSIcontrol MMI software and BARCO large picture display equipment (rear-projection, LCD wall). The feature supports simultaneous display of Microsoft Windows applications and PSIcontrol on the same large picture display equipment. It is possible to display and operate from several operator workplaces. Now the well-known tandem operation supported by PSIcontrol is also available for Windows applications. All available applications are operated by only one keyboard and mouse on each operator workplace. The benefit of the new solution is that the control center can take over operation of other control systems such as cogeneration and windfarm SCADA systems and IP networks on an ongoing or temporary basis without requiring any software extensions or modifications on these systems. In addition, the control center can take over security tasks such as surveillance of substations, public buildings, etc. The workshop presents the new GUI options by displaying and operating the following Windows-based tools on the BARCO large picture display equipment (rear-projection or LCD wall): IEC tools (Practice session for the IEC presentation on , 12:00). Other third-party applications such as NMS for IP networks and GIS system Video surveillance (Presentation in WS 09 Special PSIcontrol Applications for Trafikverket)

Innovations WS 09 - Presentation of various special applications of PSIcontrol at Trafikverket The customer Trafikverket has evolved from the from previous Swedish rail operator Banverket. Today, it is the responsible authority for the entire rail and road traffic in Sweden. Trafikverket follows the market developments, has its own R&D department for traffic research, and advises the parliament and government in all related issues. In addition, Trafikverket is responsible for the operation and management of the public rail system. The multi-faceted tasks of Trafikverket resulted in interesting special project applications which we would like to present. The workshop presents the following special functions: Presentation of the electric network management functions Catenary line supply, Switching programs including security codes, target status display, Special functions: Integrated Document Access (IDA), export of network sections to external monitors, monitoring and control of track switch heaters, Special GIS functions in PSIcontrol: points of interest, emergency switch-offs, etc. Presentation of the train management functions Tunnel monitoring, Train Information System (TIS): train location and emergency call monitoring at the City Railway Stockholm, Video Integration System (VIS): video surveillance, emergency coordination and recording, Special functions: action plans, control of train information displays including voice output, video display on rearprojection, monitoring and control of ventilation and water pumps, export of network sections for emergency crews such as for tunnel evacuation by the fire department
