10 AxiUm Laptops are provided in each cubicle Do not use your personal laptops in clinic, will not allow entry of faculty approval codes Log onto clinic laptop using your LSU username and password Click on the axium icon and use your axium username and password Log off the laptop when finished for the day

12 HIPAA Policies Patient records contain personal and medical information that must be safeguarded and respected. Public places- remote connection to axium- not recommended Do not discuss patients outside clinic (includes the elevator) Patient records must be requested through Dr. Gallo s office by patient-signed pt release of info Printing of patient records restricted Automatic logout- 30 minutes

14 Axium Security Undergraduate Students- limited access to patient records- must be assigned as a provider Postgraduate Residents- free access to patient records Staff cannot access all parts of a patient record to protect privacy

15 What s to be included in the patient s dental record (chart)? Registration-Personal info- address, phone numbers, emergency contact, insurance Medical and dental history- medications, conditions affecting dental treatment, past dental experiences Initial findings- existing restorations, caries, conditions Planned treatment procedures Treatment procedures in process and completed Treatment notes Attachments- medical consults, radiographs from another dentist, photos Consent forms and consultation forms

18 Axium login JStude (Joe Student) 1 st letter of first name, first 5 letters of last name, first 2 in caps Initial password- axium Axium password problems- Kathy Hansel LSU password problems- IT (568-HELP)

19 You will be prompted to enter a new password, there are no special criteria for this password

20 User logged onto axium Messenger module- click to send or open messages

21 Click on message icon at bottom of screen blue or red background means you have a message

23 Finding your assigned patient for training- click on Personal Plannerselect Assigned Pts tab & hit search button (magnifying glass)

25 Tip #1- patient s name must appear in status bar at bottom of screen to open chart T#1

27 Open a patient s chart Type in last name, or last name, first initial, or chart number Hit enter

28 Open the patient card from the rolodex or by clicking on the patient name in status bar

29 Patient Card contains personal info, phone numbers, emergency contact and list of appointments at bottom of window

60 Adding Treatment Notes Treatment notes must be added for every visit Note guides are used for the appropriate discipline (operative, endo, perio, etc.) Choose the note guide and fill in the blanks

73 Remote Desktop Connection to Axium ON Campus Only Go to Remote Desktop Connection- Type in the address lsusd-terminal next to computer. (this address will be saved and you can save RDC to your desktop for easier access) Hit Connect. Use your LSU username and password again. Once the home page appears, click on the Axium icon and use your axium username and password.
