SurePOS ACE was the first POS application to offer high volume scanning, payment, and electronic marketing, among other checkout innovations. Features integrated with SurePOS ACE V7.3 now give retailers more power and functionality to deliver more compelling and profitable customer services; for example, in-lane Quick Pick Lottery sales, faster access to promotions and loyalty programs, online WIC EBT verification, fresh food identifiers and paper coupon validation. Offered at checkout, these services please customers, building incremental revenue for your stores and delivering a seamless, personalized experience that brings them back again and again. By using store technologies that have made IBM the leader in the retail industry, such as the rock-solid performance of IBM 4690 OS, the innovative IBM Store Integrator, and IBM Data Integration Facility framework, the next generation of SurePOS ACE continues the tradition of innovation and staying ahead of the curve, giving retailers the tools to satisfy customers' needs, streamline processes, and cut costs. IBM SurePOS ACE Electronic Payment Support (EPS) software offers standard electronic tender support, including support for prepaid gift and phone cards, enabling you to capture new revenue streams. You can set EPS software to automatically prompt customers who pay with check cards to enter a personal IBM United States Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1

2 identification number (PIN); and SurePOS ACE software then processes the transaction as a debit, which typically costs significantly less than a credit card payment. Increase manager productivity with a terminal monitor for viewing cashier actions on any active terminal. Selective item reporting allows you to build item lists quickly and create batches for updating prices. And an electronic journal feature lets you create summary reports from stored transaction logs. Key prerequisites For details, refer to the Technical information section. Planned availability date October 7, 2011 The powerful POS application combines checkout support, electronic marketing, data maintenance, account management, and other business processes in a versatile, cost-saving package. With the introduction of the IBM SurePOS ACE V7.3, retailers can now take advantage of GTECH Online lottery to transform the point of sale into a point of service. GTECH is an online lottery provider that provides integrated lottery sales with ACE so that Quick Pick Lottery tickets can be sold in the lane to drive additional lottery sales, resulting in increased revenue for the retailer. Also, with the introduction of new operational features such as online WIC EBT and GS1 AI (Application Identifiers) Infrastructure, retailers can implement new business practices to efficiently track and sell fresh foods and improved customer service. These new features are integrated with ACE to provide retailers with a new and powerful way to add promotions, drive revenue, and improve customer service. IBM SurePOS ACE V7.3 enhancements include: New GS1 DataBar Application Identifiers (AI) Infrastructure SurePOS ACE V7.3 delivers the infrastructure for supporting GS1 DataBar fresh food identifiers to provide a more flexible way to sell perishable goods such as meat, poultry, seafood, deli, dairy, bakery, and produce. GS1 DataBar encodes brand identification and additional attribute information on fresh food products. This means consumer safety programs can be instituted at the register and on the consumer receipt. Additional benefits come from implementing GS1 DataBar, such as category management and reviews, measurement of promotions, reduced out of stocks, inventory control, and reduced shrinkage. Retailers will now be equipped to enhance current practices and solve tactical identification problems. More information on GS1's AI's and their implementations may be found at Recognition of GS1 Databars with Encoded Quantity Retailers can use ACE to recognize the Quantity Application Identifier (AI) 30 in GS1 Databar-scanned labels so that the quantity can be directly input from the label versus prompting the cashier. Online Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) support The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) division of the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) promotes and supports efforts on the part of states IBM United States Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 2

3 and other WIC agencies to replace the old style WIC paper benefits process with an electronic WIC EBT system. There are two types of technologies that have been developed for WIC EBT systems: Smart Card and Online. Smart Card WIC EBT uses a plastic card with an embedded integrated circuit chip (ICC), which stores the benefits that were allocated to the WIC participant. An Online WIC EBT system uses a plastic card with a magnetic stripe containing standard track data in which an account number is encoded. This account number is used to access benefits which are maintained by a WIC processor. A WIC EBT system benefits both the retailer and participant by delivering a seamless WIC transaction at the cash register while making the transaction appear similar to any other card transaction by any shopper. This has the potential to remove the stigma associated with WIC transactions and give WIC participants the flexibility to shop as frequently as they wish, receiving only the approved foods in the correct quantity. The shopper can purchase a mixed basket of WIC and non-wic items seamlessly while reducing checkout confusion for the clerk and WIC shopper. Each WIC agency supports either a SmartCard WIC EBT system or an Online WIC EBT system. Retailers using ACE can support both Online and Smart Card WIC EBT implementations within the same store and at the same register, but not within the same transaction. WIC One Percent Off Coupon Per Matching Item Unlimited coupons can optionally be broken up into individual item-matching coupons to ensure WIC agencies receive their benefit from these types of coupons. Associate Paper Coupons for WIC This feature ensures that the WIC agencies get the benefit of paper coupons, which discount items paid for with WIC EBT benefits. Percentage Off Order Coupons Prorate percent off order coupons against individual items (both WIC and non- WIC items) in order to give the WIC agency the proper amount of the coupons that applies to the items purchased with WIC EBT benefits. WIC Least Expensive Brand support Retailers are required to identify a set of Least Expensive Brand (LEB) items within a certain set of categories. Each WIC agency specifies a set of LEB categories. As long as an LEB item is in stock, retailers are forbidden to sell a corresponding non-leb item. For example, in the "milk" category, a retailer may identify a private-label brand milk as the LEB item. While that brand of milk is in stock, the retailer is not allowed to sell an alternate brand. The point of this is to reduce the cost to the WIC agency, since the agency ultimately covers the cost of the milk. The consequences of being noncompliant are severe, including the possible loss of the ability to take WIC tenders. In prior versions of ACE, LEB support is handled as an operational procedure where cashiers are forced to verify that an item is truly out of stock. With ACE V7.3, it is possible to use the existing WIC flag in the item record file in combination with an item's UPC existence in the APL (Authorized Product List) file to determine WIC eligibility, under the control of options. This allows much more control over WIC eligibility simply by turning on the WIC flag in the item record. Greater potential for increased revenue with in-lane lottery sales GTECH, which is currently the largest of the three online Lotto gaming providers, is authorized by state lottery commissions to sell Quick Pick wager lottery tickets at the POS and having the tickets printed on standard receipt printer paper. This enables a retailer to sell lottery tickets in the lane, making it easier for customers to buy Quick Pick Lotto tickets; this can increase player loyalty, enhance the customer experience, and potentially increase Lotto sales, ultimately delivering incremental revenue. IBM United States Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 3

4 This in-lane solution promotes Lotto sales using existing store ACE/EPS system, with no additional equipment necessary in-lane. USB PIN pad support and improved software load times ACE V7.3 now supports USB attached PIN pads and significantly faster download of PIN pad software updates. Fraudulent Paper Coupon support to detect and reduce fraud To help reduce the risk of lost revenue due to fraudulent paper coupons, support has been added to ACE to detect and ID fraudulent paper coupons, notify the cashier, and prevent the coupon from being accepted in the transaction. Groups were created under personalization that enable a retailer to build tables that can support up to 540 fraudulent GS1 and 540 UPC coupons, and customize the message displayed to the operator when a fraudulent coupon is scanned. Toolkit for Windows TM 7 Retailers can leverage Microsoft TM Windows 7 in XP Mode to develop custom extensions. Ability to Scan Gift Card at Tender time To take advantage of the adoption of gift cards, retailers can now scan Blackhawk gift cards at tender time. Display and storage of customer name when payment card is processed at PIN pad To help retailers with customer disputes, ACE can now store and display a customer's name to have a more complete view of the transaction history. This capability had formerly been available only when the card was processed using the POS MSR (magnetic stripe reader). Automatic card selection To help improve the time to check out, the PIN pad recognizes card tender type when a card is swiped. BIN Update Utility To improve operational efficiency the BIN utility was updated to add the ability to add, modify, delete, and update records and only send changed BINs with input files. Linked Franking Format ID Configure different information to be printed on the customer receipt and document insert. TeleCheck Electronic Conversion Prompt Electronic Check Conversion (ECC) prompt gives the customer the option to accept or reject the check conversion. Alphanumeric Payment Authorization Code Alphanumeric characters are now supported when entering the payment authorization code. Increased Precision on Percent-off Coupons Improvements to this feature increase the precision for percent-off coupons to allow more accuracy for coupons (for example, 1/3 off). Tender Restriction Retailers now have the ability to select and restrict what tender types a customer can use to pay for certain items, such as lottery or gift cards. Server (Controller) Server is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A server is a physical computer that is comprised of processing units, memory, and input/output capabilities and that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications for one or more users or Client Devices. Where racks, blade enclosures, or other similar equipment is being employed, each separable physical device (for example, a blade or a rack-mounted device) that has the required components is considered itself a separate server. For the purpose of server-based licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements for each server that is made available to the program, regardless of the number of processor cores and partitions in the server or the number of copies of the program on the server. Notes: Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, the following applies. In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the servers managed by the program. Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies. Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the servers managed by program. Virtual Server Virtual Server is a unit of measure by which the Program can be licensed. A virtual server is either a virtual IBM United States Software Announcement IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 12

Licensee must obtain Virtual Server entitlements for each virtual server made available to the program, regardless of the number of processor cores in the virtual server or the number of copies of the program on the virtual server. Store (Network Provider) Store is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. For programs licensed in a web commerce environment, a store is a web enabled mercantile establishment deployed and accessible to customers through the web storefront and to administrators through the program. For programs licensed in a physical retail setting, a store is each physical mercantile establishment where goods and services are offered for sale. Licensee must obtain an entitlement for every store where the program is installed. Client Device (Terminal) Client Device is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A Client Device is a single-user computing device or special-purpose sensor or telemetry device that requests the execution of or receives for execution a set of commands, procedures, or applications from or provides data to another computer system that is typically referred to as a server or is otherwise managed by the server. Multiple Client Devices may share access to a common server. A Client Device may have some processing capability or be programmable to allow a user to do work. Examples include, but are not limited to, actuators, appliances, automated teller machines, automatic meter readers, cash registers, disk drives, desktop computers, kiosks, notebook computers, personal digital assistants, point-of-sale terminals, sensors, smart meters, tape drives, and technical workstations. Licensee must obtain entitlements for every Client Device that runs, provides data to, uses services provided by, or otherwise accesses the program and for every other computer or server on which the program is installed.
