Our support activities are backed by an extensive range of training courses aimed at everyone from CFD beginners to industry specialists. The flexible range of courses are designed to be delivered in an array of innovative formats, from traditional in-classroom learning to interactive web-based learning and pre-recorded video sessions delivered over the internet. CD-adapco has developed training courses that are designed to provide users with simple, flexible processes that can easily be deployed into existing workflows and provide instant commercial benefits to our customers. From our belief that engineering analyses are only part of an overall engineering solution, CD-adapco is now offering process orientated Computational Engineering courses that explore the benefits of numerical analysis on complete engineering systems. 4 Supporting You Welcome to your dedicated CD-adapco Support Engineer. On becoming a CD-adapco customer, you are automatically assigned a Support Engineer who will be tasked, not only with solving any technical problems that might occur, but with understanding exactly how CAE analysis fits into your overall engineering and business process. Our support engineers do not hide behind intractable knowledge bases or faceless help-desk numbers in fact, they are encouraged to visit you and build a trusting working-together relationship with you and your engineering teams. By maintaining a continual dialogue with you, your dedicated support engineer will be able to help you decide which way you should deploy CD-adapco s CAE solutions in order to effectively meet your engineering goals and hence your overall business objectives. Each member of our support team is an accomplished engineer and an expert user of our CFD technology. 40% of our engineers hold PhD s and 60% at least a Masters degree. Their goal is simple: to make you successful in the application of our software. 7 Training Overview When CD-adapco trains our customers, we realize that we too are learning about your unique engineering situation and the results that you need to provide. Over the 20 years that we have provided training classes, it is clear that we must be considerate of the workfl ows in which our customers operate, and in which they employ advanced CAE tools. CD-adapco has therefore implemented a new training structure that takes advantage of internet based learning, modular and elective approaches and fl exible scheduling. Our training programs are broken into two main categories with the fi rst category comprising our multiday classroom training. This training program is offered at our offi ce locations, your offi ce locations, or various other city locations throughout the year. Additionally, this full multi-day classroom training is also available by live stream over the internet anywhere in the world. The second category of training is our short courses which are offered as part of our STAR-Tutor program. Typically these classes cover more feature specifi c examination of various subject matters, and the tutor sessions are delivered either by live streaming over the internet, or, by our new on Demand video learning which users can log into 24/7. CD-adapco is also keen to develop training material and delivery methods that align to our customer s engineering requirements and can design fully customized classes for your engineering teams. We will also work with various stakeholders in your engineering organization to ensure that our training processes will engage with all parts of your team and produce instant return on training investment - often while our training teams are still in the building! 8 Classroom Courses: Multi-day Introductory Training The introductory classes which CD-adapco offers build on the basics of fluid and thermal physics and conclude with users setting up and running their own analyses within 3 days (for STAR-CCM+). Attendees climb a gradual learning curve, becoming more comfortable with each topic as we move through more and more complex analyses. The aim of this class is to provide the engineer with enough knowledge to begin to tackle real world problems in their own analysis situations, adding value to their own skill set and their engineering business. A typical agenda of STAR-CCM+ introductory training is comprised of: Day 1: CFD Basics / STAR-CCM+ Introduction to CFD Governing Equations, Initial and Boundary Conditions, Turbulence Modeling, Solution of Governing Equations, Convergence Monitoring, Errors in CFD analysis, Mesh Generation, Post-Processing, Quality Control of Solution Introduction to STAR-CCM+, Introductory Tutorial, Tutorial on Post-Processing Day 2: STAR-CCM+ CHT analysis in a simple geometry, Lecture on Meshing, Lecture on Advanced Meshing (multi-domain, boolean operations, volume sources), Tutorial, Lecture on Client Server Architecture, Surface Cleanup and Preparation Tutorial Day 3: STAR-CCM+ Moving Reference Frame Tutorial, Lecture on Java Scripting, CHT tutorial, Lecture and Tutorial on Field Functions, FAQ In addition to this class, we also offer an introductory two day training on our STAR-CD product where the typical agenda would encompass: Day 1: STAR-CD Introduction to STAR-CD, Using STARGuide, Introduction to Sets, Example Using the STARGuide Day 2: STAR-CD Advanced Example, Lecture: Post- Processing, Debugging Tutorial, Attendee Questions, STAR-CD Frequently Asked Questions Once an introductory class is successfully completed, CD-adapco offers further elective tutor courses to trained engineers within our STAR-Tutor sessions. 9 Classroom Courses: Multi-day Advanced Computational Engineering CD-adapco has developed a wealth of experience and best-practice knowledge working with some of the top engineering organizations and companies in the world. We have now taken this experience and knowledge and developed a set of Computational Engineering classes that not only provide instruction on the use of our toolsets, but also consider the best options and strategies for using the toolsets in an engineering analysis situation, complementary to other fundamental engineering approaches that surround the analysis. 10 STAR-Distant Learning From the comfort of your desk STAR-Distant Learning is CD-adapco s new internet based remote learning service that enables you to learn the world s leading CFD technology without leaving your office location. This course will focus on CD-adapco s highly rated STAR-CCM+ foundation, and advanced Computational Engineering classes that are regularly scheduled each month, and will be broadcast live from our CD-adapco offices. Attending this web-based session will provide engineers the opportunity to understand the fundamentals of fluid flow modeling through the STAR-CCM+ interface, or, in the advanced Computational Engineering Classes, learn how STAR-CCM+ is applied to real engineering processes with demonstrated examples. Attendees will be be able to view and listen, live, to the CD-adapco training engineer while following tutorial notes in a presentation format on their own computer. A STAR-CCM+ license will also be provided to all remote based registrants in order that trainees can follow the steps in the real software guided by the training engineer. Students may also pose questions interactively to the trainer during the class. The training session will be broadcast through Web-Ex and trainees should have access to high speed internet connection and a suitably configured internet browser for the sessions. 11 STAR-Tutor: Internet Based Learning, Tutorials & Electives CFD Skill-Building, the High-Speed, Low-Cost Way As part of CD-adapco s implementation of ground breaking CFD training methods through web-based learning, we offer a series of short online tutorial and elective sessions designed to allow engineers to continually refine their skill-sets without leaving their desks. The STAR- tutor short courses are offered through two methods, STAR-Tutor Interactive and STAR-Tutor On Demand. The modular approach to these short tutorial sessions allows the user to progress at the pace that they are most comfortable with. Private sessions may be arranged to provide you with mentoring on your unique engineering problems.
