7 Challenges There is no Smart Grid without increased Business Performance, i.e. a Big Data Management & Business Process Management, and a Service Oriented Architecture, together with industry specific data exchange standards Harnessing Big Data With Master Data for Improving Storm Planning, Outage Restoration Replacing Reactive With Predictive Solutions Reacting More Efficiently, Effectively to Events Streamlining Energy, Information Flow Across the Network, Integration of work processes into a multi-phase/ multi-option collaborative process and greater empowerment of operators to solve problems for increased work efficiency, public & employee safety, process harmonization and, customer satisfaction using (Dynamic) Case Management. Analytics Adapt to the business needs for analysis and reporting ECM suites Adapt to policies, automate decisions, manage content through case life cycle (Dynamic) Case Management User experience Adapt to the context of user, task, process Smart Grid requires enterprise integration, i.e. integration / interoperability within the Front-Office, and integration between Front- and Back-Office. BPM suites Adapt and automate business processes Source: Forrester

8 Challenges Bandwith Race, New Technologies, and Shared Comm. Infrastructure Fiber Optic Deployment & OSS Integration Automated Fault Management (transformation from data to actionable) OSS for consolidated/converged network operations (w/ multi play bundles) Tear down old (resilient) operational silos common work processes G/FOW Fiber OSS (Optional) Electric utilities, small TelCo s and emerging countries TelCo s require either a Fiber Optic Works (FOW) solution or a complete integrated FOW/OSS solution G/Tech Copper G/Tech Cable Existing OSS Large TelCos require to provide either a custom integration to an already existing OSS solution, or an integrated OSS solution (e.g. w/ partner).
