3 Overview SAP Portfolio and Project Management comes with build in functionality to structure your projects, manage your resources and to track the execution. However, many companies use other project management systems in various departments for various project categories. These include, for example, Microsoft Project. Consolidating this data in to one central system as one single source of truth is critical to manage the overall project portfolio. Therefore SAP Portfolio and Project Management allows to import and export projects including the structural, date-related and resource information from and to Microsoft Project 2003 as a customer specific solution. Information how the customer specific integration between Microsoft Project 2003 and SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 can be set is contained in SAP Note It contains also recommendations for setting up the mapping between the two systems. The application documentation for the integration can also be found in SAP Note in the attachment PPIMApplicationMSPSHelp.pdf Activate MSP Integration in Customizing To activate the MSP Integration follow the following steps in the Portfolio and Project Management System. Go to transaction SIMGH. Choose the IMG structure 'MSP Integration'. Display the IMG structure. Perform the following IMG activities under the MSP node: Integration 1. Create RFC Connections Create a HTTP connection to the Microsoft Project. 2. Define Logical Ports Define the logical ports that point to the RFC destinations you created in step 1. Make sure you define the logical systems too using Define Logical Systems 3. Define Web Alias Define the service and the Web alias by entering the following parameter values: Parameter Name Parameter Value MSPSLOGONPAGE /PROJECTSERVER/LGNPSAU.ASP PROXYLOGICALPORT Name of the logical port defined above LOGICALDESTINATION Name of the logical system defined above 4. Define Object Link Types Define the object link for the Microsoft Project. For more information about implementing an object link, see SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Business Suite Applications -> SAP PLM -> using SAP Portfolio and Project Management SAP AG 3

Steps to be followed in Microsoft Project 2003 An example implementation for the Visual Basic coding can be found here MSPS.zip.The following steps are required to install the Visual Basic. The example implementation will: 1. Install and register/unregister the PDS Extender on your Microsoft Project Create a SQL procedure in Microsoft Project server SQL database required for PDS Extender. Installation Steps: 1. Open the folder Registering Extender and double click the 'SAPxRPMPDSEx.exe' 2. In the form to create the procedure a) Specify the server name, the username and the password for the SQL server administrator. b) Click on the 'Create Procedure' button to create the procedure in the 'Project' database 3. In the form to 'Register/Unregister the PDS Extender' a) Enter the IIS name. The IIS will be stopped and restarted during the process of registering and unregistering the SAP PDS Extender 'SAP_PDS_EXF_EX.DLL' b) If there already exists a registered 'SAP_PDS_ECF_EX.DLL' on your Microsoft Project 2003 instance then I. Click on the Unregister option button. II. Select the folder in which the dll exists and click on 'Unregister' button c) To register the dll I. Select the 'Register' option button II. Click on the 'Browse' button and select the path where the 'SAP_PDS_ECF_EX.dll' has to be stored. The install utility copies the new 'SAP_PDS_ECF_EX.dll' to the target location specified by the user in the textbox. III. Click on the 'Register' button to register the dll. Note: The dll SAP_PDS_ECF_EX.dll can be registered in any directory of the Microsoft Project DIIs will be started and stopped by the application during the Registering/Unregistering process of the PDS Extender and as such the user doesn't have to manually do it. 2. Steps to be followed in Portfolio and Project Management Below is an example APIs to perform import/export of project data from/to Microsoft Project Please note that the following APIs are not supported in Portfolio and Project Management SAP AG 4
