Nandita Parekh Data Analytics for Internal Audit November 16-17, 2018 December 7-8, 2018 Data Analytics for Internal Audit is presented as a series of 2 workshops. An initiative of the GRC subgroup of the Accounting and Auditing Committee of the BCAS, these twin workshops are designed with the objective of providing focused learning opportunity with hands-on training spread over 2 days each. Data Analytics has always been a powerful tool for internal auditors, and with its proliferation as well as changing technologies to handle it, has been identified as one of the areas where significant skill building is the need of the hour. To address this need, these twin workshops have been conceptualized to enable participants to gain confidence in integrating data analytics as an integral part of their internal audit methodology. Use of data analytics would help in reducing audit time, in arriving at insights and helping draw observations based on complete data universe as opposed to

2 sample. It will also help raise red flags, and help identify outliers and deviations that merit further work. Workshop 1: Analytics with Advance Microsoft Excel. Workshop 2: Analytics with IDEA software tool. (Detailed course contents at the end of this announcement) As both the workshops involve hands on training, the number of participants for each workshop will be restricted to 30 only. Considering the limitation on the number of participants that can be accommodated, we will accept registrations on a first come first served basis. We request a maximum of 3 participants from a single organization. Participants would be expected to have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and will be required to bring in their own laptops for the entire duration of both the courses. 3 Data Analytics for Internal Audit -1 Analytics Using Microsoft Excel Course Anchor: CA Nikunj Shah Training Program Objective To enable participants leverage advance MS-Excel functionalities for assurance analytics is the objective of this unique two days training program. Methodology Hands-on exercises in MS-Excel, using a learn-by-doing approach, on real world (realistic) data files interspersed with brief lectures and brain storming sessions. Take away: On completion of the training program, you shall be able to use advance MS-Excel functionalities for assurance analytics to: Connect MS-Excel worksheet to corporate (or Tally) database & extract any data that you want Get Kaleidoscopic views on data by slicing and dicing the data Implement Digital Analysis techniques like Benford's Law and Relative Size Factor Theory (RSF) in Excel to identify red flags or fraudulent transactions Use Pareto analysis (80-20 rule) and identify high value (and high risk) transactions Perform a Time Dimension analysis on data, learn to interpret results Connect your Excel worksheet to live data on the Internet and (for e.g.) track current value of investments Work with large data sets (even more than million rows) in Excel Automatically , from a single report within Excel, each account holder's transactions (e.g. for confirmation) to its respective IDs Detect non-compliance with organizational policies & compliance framework.
