2 About CHDC & the Central Highlands Accelerate Agribusiness Program Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) is a not-for-profit organisation and the lead economic and tourism development agency for the Central Highlands region of Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1997, CHDC s mission is to advocate for sustainable regional and economic growth by attracting investment, growing opportunities for employment and supporting our businesses. The Central Highlands Accelerate Agribusiness (CHAA) initiative aims to grow, promote and realise value and opportunity for all businesses producing agricultural and food products, processing and other value-adding services in the Central Highlands. The CHAA Initiative is supported by a dedicated Agribusiness Development Coordinator, Liz Alexander, and the skills-based CHAA Strategic Advisory Group, appointed for a three-year term from 1 February, These respected individuals bring strong expertise in grain, cotton, beef and horticulture, domestic and international supply chain systems, market development and trade, and digital technologies. We have been fortunate enough to travel to most corners of the country attending conferences AgTeCH17 was hard to beat in every respect. Pete Lewis as the choice of MC, the way the panel sessions were run, the quality of panel participants, the time available for networking, the trip out to see the robotics demonstrations, the venue and catering, and the relaxed but professional atmosphere of the program were all ten out of ten. 3 Featured Agribusiness Events and Activities From August September 2018 CENTRAL HIGHLANDS AG EVENTS ONLINE-CALENDAR Finally! A one-stop calendar for all agricultural related events and activities in the Central Highlands will be made available on the CHDC agribusiness webpage. Organisations running events can post their details for free. 14 August 2018 HACKCQ WITH RIVER CITY LABS Emerald CHDC will host a 54-hour weekend hackathon to support entrepreneurship and the establishment of new, high-growth businesses by allowing participants to rapidly and safely test business ideas. With a particular focus on young people, participants will be supported by a network of mentors, investors and business founders who are ready to help the concepts get started. FARM TO FINE DINING REGIONAL PRODUCE SHOWCASE Brisbane 25 October 2018 From 2016, CHDC has delivered this annual event held during the Ekka week to showcase the region s produce to leaders and strategic stakeholders from agribusiness, government, peak industry bodies, tourism and investment sectors. If you are a producer who would like to become involved by sharing your products please contact CHDC directly. Quarterly DIGITAL AG MEETUPS Emerald This is a supportive community group consisting of driven and successful agribusiness individuals. We get together every 8 12 weeks to discuss current contemporary agribusiness topics of the digital age. The meetings are free and those attending focus on performance and efficiency, share and discuss new opportunities to grow businesses, and includes Tales from the Field where locals assist each other with the latest technologies and strategies. MEET THE FOOD INNOVATORS FORUM: AGRIBUSINESS, VALUE-CHAIN AND FOOD RETAIL FORUM Emerald This event connects local, regional and national food innovators with local farmers, agribusiness, manufacturing and processing, and food retailers to provide information on creative and transformative work in these sectors. The event aims to stimulate investment and collaboration in our primary and secondary processing and food retail sectors. We already have some amazing speakers from across Australia and our region locked in, and Peter Lewis will join us as MC!

4 Featured Agribusiness Events and Activities continued 15 November March 2019 FROM PADDOCK TO PORTS SUPPLY CHAIN FORUM Emerald This forum exploring regional exporting opportunities and supply chain efficiency is a follow-up to CHDC and DAF s successful Paddocks to Ports delegation to Townsville, Mackay and Gladstone Ports and associated supply chain providers in May November 2018 January 2019 AGRIBUSINESS WORKFORCE ATTRACTION CAMPAIGN In addition to and leveraging from its regional workforce attraction campaign, CHDC will promote agribusiness advantages in the Central Highlands via a targeted social media advertising campaign to attract skilled staff in agribusiness and on-farm. CHAA ROADSHOW Mackenzie River Big Bend, Comet, Emerald & Anakie After such a great response to the Central Highlands Accelerate Agribusiness Roadshows that run south to north from Rolleston to Capella in 2018, we promised to bring the Strategic Advisory Group on the road again this time running east-west, to share key activities and hear from inspirational agribusiness across the region. 3 September 2018 June 2019 EXPORT READY: INTERNATIONAL TRADE PROGRAM FOR CENTRAL QUEENSLAND AGRIBUSINESS In conjunction with the Export Council of Australia, CHDC is facilitating a multi-level program to support 10 agribusiness at every stage of their development, from pre-export to expanding into new markets, to be run over 10 months. Successful exporters will provide one-on-one mentoring throughout and following the program. FROM PADDOCK TO PORTS SUPPLY TOUR Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone Tour the Port of Townsville (POT), Port of Mackay (North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation) (NQBPC) and Gladstone Port Corporation (GPC) facilities, and connect with key contacts at each location from across the regional and global supply chain.
