The fllwing items are required t be submitted as a cmplete applicatin. If all the apprpriate infrmatin is nt prvided, the applicatin will be returned as incmplete. 1. Applicatins fr septic systems are available in the Perry Twnship Office. REQUIRED PERMIT DRAWINGS The fllwing list f required drawings shuld be used as a guide when preparing drawings fr submissin fr a building permit, fr a prject designed under Part Nine f the Ontari Building Cde, which des nt require prfessinal design. Any prject that requires design by an Architect and/r a Prfessinal Engineer (Part Three buildings, such as assembly, institutinal r large buildings ver 600 square meters and multiple dwellings), will require mre cmprehensive drawings t illustrate cmpliance with the Ontari Building Cde. The Designer that prepares the permit drawings is respnsible t ensure that they prvide sufficient infrmatin t the Builder t ensure cmpliance with the requirements f the Ontari Building Cde. As f January 1, 2006, all Designers will be required t shw prf f meeting qualificatins required by the Ministry f Husing. 1. Site Plan The lcatin f all existing buildings as well as the prpsed, lcatin and design f access rutes must be illustrated. The setbacks t lt lines must be clearly shwn. The existing and prpsed drainage patterns shuld be illustrated (prvide gedetic elevatins if in a fld plain, r plan f subdivisin) The prpsed means f strm water dispsal (frm fundatin drains and rainwater leaders) must be illustrated. The plan must be t scale and shw all prperty bundaries, adjacent rad and water bdies, easements and right-f-ways. The lcatin f site services shuld be added t the site plan as well. A cpy f the deed is required if the site plan has nt been prepared by an Ontari Land Surveyr. Shuld include the lcatin and dimensins f all buildings and septic systems. 2. Flr Plans All rms must be labeled t illustrate their intended use. The lcatin f drs, windws, plumbing fixtures, and stairs must be clear. Structural infrmatin fr the rf r flr abve may als be illustrated n the flr plan fr simple prjects, as well as mechanical and electrical infrmatin. The

3 plans must be t scale, with a separate plan fr each strey, including basement. If the prject is an additin, the layut f the existing flr plan is als required. 3. Fundatin Plans The size and type f materials used fr the fundatin must be specified. The lcatin f all ftings, including clumn and pier ftings must be illustrated. The lcatin and type f any required drainage shuld be illustrated. The lcatin f plumbing and electrical services can be added n this drawing. The sil cnditins n the prpsed building site must be indicated. 4. Framing Plans Fr simple prjects, the framing can be shwn n the flr plans. The size and lcatin f all structural members must be clear. The spans fr beams shuld be indicated. The specificatins fr engineered lumber must be prvided (e.g. truss drawings) All lads must be safely transferred t the fundatins; sufficient infrmatin must be prvided n the drawings t verify this. The type f framing materials must be specified (e.g. S.P.F. metal, etc.) 5. Rf Plans May be illustrated n the flr plans fr simple prjects. Rf slpe and any rf munted equipment must be shwn. 6. Sectins and Details Crss-sectins will illustrate all the materials that make up the wall, flr and rf systems. Adequate infrmatin shall be included t be able t determine the lcatin f insulatin, air barrier, vapr barrier, structural members, sheeting, stairs, fireplaces, backfill height, bracing and required cnnectins, fr example. 7. Building Elevatins Shw prpsed grade at each elevatin f the building. Windws, drs, rf slpes, decks, chimneys, etc., shuld be clearly illustrated. 8. Electrical Drawings Shw lcatin f lights, smke alarms, carbn mnxide detectrs, switching and ther electrical cmpnents required under the Ontari Building Cde. 4 9. Heating, Ventilatin and Air Cnditining Drawings Indicate the lcatins f supply and return air penings fr heating and ventilatin. Prvide heat lss calculatins and duct design infrmatin. Prvide lcatin and descriptin f HVAC (Heating, Ventilatin and Air Cnditining)units and ventilatin design summary. Prvide wd stve and fireplace lcatins and required clearance measurements. 10. Plumbing Drawings Shw all plumbing fixtures, including rugh-ed fixtures. Prvide infrmatin n pipe sizing, material, appliances, devices and fixtures used.

12 Guide t the Energy Efficiency Design Summary Frm The Energy Efficiency Design Summary frm summarizes the cmpliance path used by a huse designer t cmply with energy efficiency requirements f the Ontari Building Cde. This frm must accmpany the building permit applicatin. The infrmatin n this frm MUST reflect the drawings and specificatins being submitted, r the building permit may be refused. Refer t Supplementary Standard SB-12 fr details abut building cde cmpliance requirements. Further infrmatin abut energy efficiency requirements fr new buildings is available frm the prvincial building cde website at r the municipal building department. Beginning January 1, 2012, a huse designer must use ne f fur energy efficiency cmpliance ptins in the building cde: 1. Cmply with the SB-12 Prescriptive design tables, 2. Use the SB-12 Perfrmance cmpliance methd, and mdel the design against the prescriptive standards, 3. Design t Energy Star standards, r 4. Evaluate the design accrding t EnerGuide technical prcedures and achieve a rating f 80 r mre. COMPLETING THE FORM B. Cmpliance Optins Indicate the cmpliance ptin being used. SB-12 Prescriptive requires that the building cnfrms t a package f thermal insulatin, windw and mechanical system efficiency requirements set ut in Subsectin f SB-12. Energy efficiency design mdeling and testing f the building is nt required under this ptin. SB-12 Perfrmance refers t the alternative methd f cmpliance set ut in Subsectin f SB-12. Using this apprach the designer must use recgnized energy simulatin sftware (such as HOT2000 V9.34c1.2 r newer), and submit dcuments which shw that the annual energy use f the building is equal t a prescriptive package. Energy Star huses must be designed t Energy Star requirements and be labelled n cmpletin by Enerquality r ther agency. The Energy Star BOP frm must be submitted with the permit dcuments. EnerGuide80 huses are validated by NRCan authrized energy advisrs and must achieve a rating f 80 r mre when evaluated in accrdance with EnerGuide administrative and technical prcedures. C. Prject Design Cnditins Climatic Zne: The number f degree days fr Ontari cities is cntained in Supplementary Standard SB-1 Windws, Skylights and Glass Drs: If the rati f the ttal grss area f windws, sidelights, skylights and glass drs t the ttal grss area f walls is mre than 17%, higher efficiency glazing is required. If the rati is mre than 22% the SB-12 Prescriptive ptin may nt be used. The ttal area is the sum f all the structural rugh penings. Sme exceptins apply. Refer t f SB-12 fr further details. Fuel Surce and Heating Equipment Efficiency: The fuel surce and efficiency f the prpsed heating equipment must be specified in rder t determine which SB-12 Prescriptive cmpliance package table applies. Other Building Cnditins: These cnstructin cnditins affect SB-12 Prescriptive cmpliance requirements. D. Building Specificatins Thermal Insulatin: Indicate the RSI r R-value being prpsed where they apply t the huse design. Under the SB-12 Prescriptive ptin, RSI 3.52 wall insulatin is permitted in certain cnditins where ther design elements meet higher standards. Refer t SB-12 fr further details. E. Perfrmance Design Summary This sectin is nt required t be cmpleted if the SB-12 Prescriptive ptin is being used. BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR AIRTIGHTNESS IN NEW HOUSES All huses must cmply with increased air barrier requirements in the building cde. Ntice f air barrier cmpletin must be prvided and an inspectin cnducted prir t it being cvered. The building cde requires that a blwer dr test be cnducted t verify the air tightness f the huse during cnstructin if the SB-12 Perfrmance ptin is used and an air tightness f less than Pa in the case f detached huses, r Pa in the case f attached huses is necessary t meet the required energy efficiency standard. A blwer dr test must als be cnducted if the EnerGuide 80 ptin is used. ENERGY EFFICIENCY LABELING FOR NEW HOUSES Energy Star and EnerGuide issue labels fr new hmes cnstructed under their energy efficiency prgrams. The building cde des nt regulate new hme labelling.
