1 SECTION ROUGH CARPENTRY PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementaty Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. B. Section Exterior Finish Carpently C. Other technical sections 1.2 SUMMARY A. Rough carpent1y materials as shown on drawings and as herein specified. 1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. A. Meet industry requirements and those noted in PART 2 below 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Not Applicable 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE B. Meet industry requirements and those noted in PART 2 below 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. PRODUCT HANDLING a. Store materials in such a manner as to protect against damage and the weather. b. Keep material clearly identified with grade marks legible. c. Do not allow installation of damaged or noncomplying materials. d. Use necessaty means to protect the installed work and materials of other trades. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS Note: Not all items in list below may be required (see Drawings) for locations/items required. Materials of this Section shall meet or exceed the following: Item Decay Retardant Treated Wood Descrintion and/or Snecies Exterior Fire-X as manufactured by Hoover Treated Wood Products, Inc., or approved equal. Treated lumber is required at the following locations: * Where specified on the drawings * Lumber exposed to exterior conditions * Lumber extending above roof deck as curbs, nailers, or other similar conditions * Lumber in contact with concrete or masonry ROUGH CARPENTRY

2 Fire resistant lumber is required as follows: * Where indicated on the drawings. * Where part of fire-resistant assembly PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Inspect the installed work of other trades and verify that such work is complete to the point where this installation may properly commence. 3.2 PREPARATION A. As required per Item 3.l.a above and to insure proper installation of new materials. 3.3 INSTALLATION A. Installation shall produce joints true, tight, and well nailed. B. Make joints to conceal shrinkage. C. Install items straight, true, level, plumb, and firmly anchored in place. Where blocking is required, coordinate as necessary with other trades to ensure placement of required blocking in a timely manner. D. Nails used on decay and fire retardant wood shall be galvanized. E. Blocking: Install blocking required to support finish items, equipment items, etc. Install pressure treated blocking at exterior locations Install fire blocking as required by Code. F. Material Isolation: Isolate unacceptable metals from treated lumber per manufacturer's guidelines to avoid corrosive Or galvanic reactions. Provide acceptable connectors and fasteners compati~.le with agent used for treatment oflumber. 3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. No specific requirements 3.5 PROTECTING AND CLEANING A.
