Acknowledgement The SABS Standards Division wishes to acknowledge the valuable assistance rendered by the Cement and Concrete Institute in providing material for this document. Foreword This South African standard was approved by National Committee SABS SC 59A, Construction standards Cement, lime and concrete, in accordance with procedures of the SABS Standards Division, in compliance with annex 3 of the WTO/TBT agreement. This document was published in June This document supersedes SANS :2009 (edition 3). SANS consists of the following parts, under the general title Concrete floors: Part 1: Bases to concrete floors. Part 2: Finishes to concrete floors. A vertical line in the margin shows where the text has been technically modified by amendment No. 1 Annex A forms an integral part of this document.

5 Concrete floors Part 1: Bases to concrete floors 1 Scope This part of SANS covers the design, detailing, materials and construction of types of concrete floors that are cast on the ground and are subjected to industrial and commercial loads. This part of SANS does not cover domestic floors or floors that are subjected to vibrating loads. NOTE 1 Bases to suspended concrete floors are covered by SANS NOTE 2 Finishes to concrete floors are covered by SANS Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
