CMD CIVIL PTY LTD Who We Are: Our Structural and Subsurface Investigation division which specialises in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) caters to pre-construction over proposed build sites to new or existing structures. Where As-built plans are unavailable or confirmation of the existing plans is required, our team can provide the necessary information required in order for our clients to move forward with their project. CMD s Structural and Subsurface Investigation division was formed in 2009 owing to the demand for nonintrusive methods of examining structures and subsurface elements, as a result we have established a clientele base of over 300+ which is continuously growing. With a background in Civil Construction we understand the requirements and the benefits from utilising as many non-destructive testing methods possible in order to collect the required information. Where nondestructive measures cannot be applied we have the capabilities to undertake destructive exploration works followed by repair and remediation of any structure. Through utilising both non-destructive and destructive methods CMD can provide advice on the level of inspection required in order to provide our clients with the necessary information they need to move forward with their project in a timely and cost effective manner. CMD are committed to working closely with our clients to deliver the best value and outcome possible. The Challenge: With increases for the need to examine structures and subsurface areas through non-destructive measures the industry is faced with the challenges of finding a suitable service provider with the latest technology available, in which non-destructive testing can be undertaken to collect accurate data to provide necessary and relevant information on the subject matter. Not only is technology a key factor for successful non-destructive testing and surveying, a complete understanding of the mathematics and physics behind such testing along with data analysis is crucial, this is where CMD prides itself. The Solution: CMD s Structural and Subsurface Investigation division provides the highest standard of professionalism and Quality Assurance assessments that our clients require, often taking on projects that other companies have deemed too difficult or not possible to complete. Our team has a wide variety of resources available to them including specialist consultants and geophysicists to liaise with for the more complex projects. We regularly provide on-going training in all aspects of non-destructive testing that we cover including attending of non-destructive testing seminars and conferences to discuss latest testing methods and equipment on offer.

Servicing Australia and New Zealand Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Concrete Surveying When you need to identify: Post-Tension Cables Steel Reinforcing Layout Conduits Voiding Concrete Cover Structural Beams and Footings Verify As-Built Plans CMD have the experience and expertise to nondestructively identify objects within concrete structures without resorting to destructive measures. Our established Ground Penetrating Radar division can provide advice on the level of inspection required in order to provide our clients with the necessary information they need to move forward with their project in a time and cost effective manner. Concrete Surveying using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is an ideal way to collect information on a structure quietly and non-destructively without causing disturbance to the surrounding environment. Data can be collected on site quietly and in a timely manner allowing for offsite data analysis to be undertaken. GPR has many applications and we are happy to discuss your project requirements As every project is unique CMD welcome any enquires and are happy to discuss your project requirements and deliverables that can be expected. CMD are committed to working closely with our clients to achieve the best value and outcome possible.

Servicing Australia and New Zealand Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Subsurface Feature Surveys In addition to concrete surveying utilising Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems CMD also utilise GPR for subsurface surveys to identify buried objects and anomalies. Where existing site plans are unavailable or it is unknown whether items have been previously removed from below the ground, GPR can assist in verifying what lies beneath the surface prior to excavation or design works proceeding. When you need to identify: Underground Storage Tanks / irrigation pipes / Voiding / Unmarked Graves / Boulders & Rocks Left buried for long periods of time items such as UST s have the potential to cause an environmental disaster. Accurately locating the position and extents of any UST is critical for successful excavation without causing damage or puncturing a potentially fuel filled tank. A site survey of the location using GPR systems provides reassurance and minimises associated risks prior to excavation works proceeding. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) has a wide variety of applications including, but not limited to: Environmental, Geophysical, archaeological, Law Enforcement and Underground Asset Locating. CMD have the experience and expertise to non-destructively identify objects such as UST s, underground assets and other buried objects within the subsurface without resorting to destructive measures. Where possible, any information on the surface and subsurface conditions of any site where a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey may be required is beneficial. From this CMD can better advise on the likely information that can be obtained or any factors that may assist or hinder with successful detection of buried objects. Further applications: UTILITIES - Clay Pipes / Plastic or PVC / Concrete Pipe / Metal Pipe / Conduit / Cable or Wire / Manholes ENVIRONMENTAL - Buried Drums / Landfill Limits / Rubble Limits / High Saturation Levels / Underground Storage Tanks. STRUCTURAL - Voids / Water Infiltration / Asphalt Layer Thickness. GEOPHYSICAL - Strata Layers / Ground Water / Root Mass / Disturbed Soil / Buried Wood / Bedrock / Boulders and Rocks / Density Changes / Fill Replacement. LAW ENFORCEMENT - Buried Caches / Forensic Investigation. ARCHAEOLOGICAL - Artefact Locating / Structure Mapping.

Servicing Australia and New Zealand Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Pavement Assessment Surveys Road and Pavement Assessment Surveys: Measure Asphalt Thickness at Normal Road Speeds Road Scanning Using the Road Cart system provides an effective tool for quickly determining pavement layer thickness. The Road Cart is able to collect data densities not obtainable using other labour-intensive methods. Road Cart data can be acquired at normal road speeds, which eliminate the need for lane closures, traffic management and provides a safer working environment. Typical Uses: Base and subsurface elevations Measuring pavement thickness Measuring available asphalt prior to milling to allow for maximum recycling. Bridge deck condition assessment Airport runway assessment The Road Cart system is adjustable to cover individual wheel paths or specified lines to obtain information on the asphalt layer thickness or other subsurface feature layer depths. Data is recorded and constantly monitored by a technician in the passenger seat GPR data collected over a 150 metre section of road way displaying the depth of the asphalt layer averaging 50mm. This system is designed for highway professionals, engineers and transportation departments that require a safe, reliable and non-destructive method to evaluate roads for pavement preservation, planning and rehabilitation. This system is also ideal for road profiling companies. A simple scan over the surface to be profiled can identify the depth of the asphalt allowing for maximum recycling and reducing any contamination that can render the asphalt unusable. The time and money costs of returning for sealing works with establishment and traffic control expenses can be minimised simply by increasing the amount of recyclable asphalt taken from the surface and re used onsite. The Road Cart system allows for kilometres of pavement layer thickness data to be collected in just one day.

Structural Investigations Concrete Remediation As-Built Verification CMD Civil Pty Ltd Provide complete structural investigation works incorporating non-destructive testing, destructive exploration through to concrete repair and remediation. Where As-Builts or structural drawings are unavailable or a structure is showing signs of failure or deterioration CMD can obtain critical information to assist with rectifying the issue. Destructive Exploration & Concrete Repair Where further investigation of a structure is required CMD will undertake the required destructive exploration to verify aspects of a structure that cannot be achieved through non-destructive measures. This allowing for a complete and accurate overall depiction of any structure providing critical information to Engineers & Designers. All repairs are undertaken by CMD using the latest products to the required repair standards and specifications. Concrete Remediation (Concrete Cancer) CMD can remove, repair and reinstate a failed concrete median to the required repair specification and provide long term Corrosion Protection utilising advanced technologies. Concrete cancer and other forms of concrete deterioration all require a different approach for repair based on the level of deterioration. CMD can provide Investigations and Condition Assessments including the costed repair options for the structure.

Experience Major Projects Victoria / Department of State Development Melbourne Markets Relocation Project, Epping Survey 124 units varying in size between 112 Sq. metres and 193 Sq. metres to identify locations of post tension cables over specified areas. Intersecting points of all post tension cables were plotted onsite, offsets collected and transferred into existing AutoCAD dwg files. Results from this survey enabled the fit out companies to design the layout of each unit based on the locations of these cables minimising the chances of compromising any post-tension cable. Stonnington City Council Harold Holt Memorial Pool CMD were engaged to undertake a comprehensive survey of the historically listed Harold Holt Dive Tower. The primary objective of the survey was to verify the connection detail of the vertical with the horizontal plains, investigate isolated locations of spalling over the surface of horizontal landings, investigate the possibility of oxidisation within steel reinforcing. The best practice technique for the conformation of the cementitious integrity of concrete structure in relation to the embedded reinforcement and connection detail was advised upon and with the data collected over the tower structure our client could then plan the next stage of remmediation works. Boeing Areostructures Autoclave structural footing survey The project involved surveying the accessible slab structure immediately below and around an Autoclave to verify the reinforcing structure and slab thickness prior to commencing with hydrostatic testing on the unit. Results from this survey allowed the necessary calculations to be made in order to conduct the hydrostatic testing safely based the structure it sat on.

Experience Racing Victoria Ltd Racecourse Surveying (State Wide) To date CMD have completed 25 separate Racecourse surveys throughout the greater Victoria region. Scope of these works was to identify all existing drainage throughout the tracks (GPS position where required) to allow for inspection and any remediation works to be undertaken. The GPR system allowed for tracks to be surveyed time efficiently based on course activity and entirely non-destructively avoiding the need for any unnecessary closures. Effectively this was the only way to identify the locations of the existing drainage without excavating sections of the courses. Regional Rail Link Work Package: B City to Maribyrnong River 24 locations measuring approximately 4.6 Sq. metres each within a section of the Melbourne underground rail loop were required to be scanned over two separate occupations to verify steel placement. The utilisation of GPR for this project was essential as there was no other effective means of verifying the reinforcing structure. Once all 24 locations were marked with the bar locations a template could be drawn up and sent off to the design team in order to fabricate strengthening plates with holes positioned to avoid compromising any reinforcing bars. Regional Rail Link Work Package: C Footscray to Deer park. Completing two night work occupations to survey five rail abutments in order to identify steel reinforcing and other anomalies embedded in the concrete varying in thickness between 400mm through to 2300mm. This survey involved multiple GPR systems to be utilised in order to accommodate the varying thicknesses of each abutment.
