1 WIBLE BARBER Architects Billingsley School Bleacher Replacement 2246 County Road 77 / Billingsley, Alabama BC PROJECT NO: WBA PROJECT NO: ADDENDUM NO. 2 GENERAL: November 28, 2017 This ADDENDUM is hereby made part of the Bid/Contract Documents and shall be acknowledged on the Bidder s Proposal Form. Failure to do so may subject the Bidder to disqualification. The following conditions take precedence over conflicting conditions in the Specifications, on the Drawings and in other Contract Documents. When a change is called for on a Drawing or in a Specification, this change shall carry through all applicable drawings and specifications, including all related architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical drawings and specifications. The Bid/Contract Documents are hereby amended as follows: DRAWINGS 1. Refer to Drawing SHEET A101, EXISTING SITE PLAN A. At west side of field (visitors side) remove the note about New 5 Row Elevated Bleachers. This note belongs on SHEET A102, and is shown there. B. At southwest corner of field remove 2 notes about removing or shifting existing fences. These notes belong on SHEET A102, and are shown there. 2. Refer to SHEET A102, NEW SITE PLAN A. At Life Safety Information, correct spelling of two words: (1) Under Bleachers, under visitor s side egress width provided, change existing south to exiting south. (2) Under Press Box, change Actual Heaight to Actual Height. B. At New Site Plan near southwest corner of Existing Classroom Building, at note for drain pipes under sidewalk, change note to read Install three 4 PVC pipes under sidewalk at existing drainage swale. C. At New Site Plan at new sidewalk on south side of existing one-way drive, add a note as follows: Install three 4 PVC pipes under sidewalk at existing drainage swale. D. Add the following new general notes: GENERAL NOTES FOR NEW SIDEWALKS 1. Before installation of new concrete sidewalks strip all vegetation and topsoil. Dispose of the vegetation and stockpile the topsoil. If topsoil depth and removal exceeds 3 below adjacent grade, backfill with clean sand and compact to 98% density to provide the subgrade 3 below adjacent grade. 2 2. All new concrete sidewalks shall be 5 feet wide by 4 thick, and shall be reinforced with 6x6, W1.4 x W1.4 welded wire fabric, located 1.33 below the top of the concrete. 3. Transverse contraction joints at sidewalks shall be 5 feet on center and may be constructed with zip strip devices, saw cut or tooled. Contraction joint depth shall be 1/3 of slab thickness. 4. Expansion joints in sidewalks shall be full depth and shall be as specified for slab isolation joint filler. Expansion joints shall be provided at all locations where sidewalks abut buildings, other slabs, terraces, ramps, steps, etc. Expansion joints shall be provided where sidewalks make tees or angled turns, and otherwise at 45 feet on center maximum. 5. Install traffic bearing sealants at all contraction joints and expansion joints. E. At New Site Plan at all locations where existing 4 chain link fences are shown to be relocated or shifted, instead of relocating the existing fence, revise notes to call for a new 4 foot high chain link fence at the new locations shown. This will result in a new 4 chain link fence on the entire west side of the field, at the south west corner of the field and at the south end of the field west of the 4 gate opening near the goal post. Also provide approximately 40 feet of new 4 chain link fence with a 4 gate north of the new bleacher pad on the home side. At the front of the new bleacher pad on the home side, the note calling for a New 42 Guardrail shall be revised to read New 42 High Chain Link Fence To Serve As A Guardrail, By Site Work Contractor. All other chain link fencing on the east side should be noted as Existing 4 Chain Link Fences to Remain. This will include about 85 of fence north of bleacher pad and about 106 of existing fencing south of the bleacher pad/cmu retaining wall to the southeast corner. The existing fence south of the field and east of the 4 gate opening near the goal post shall remain. F. Revise notes at home side entry sidewalk to read to read as follows: New 5 Wide Concrete Sidewalk to New Gate and Extend New Sidewalk 30 From Gate to Gravel Parking Area. G. At concrete bleacher support pad for visitor side, at the north end swap the spot elevations shown for east side and west side of the slab. The slab should slope from east (front) to west (rear) at 1/8 /ft. Therefore the spot elevation on the east side of the slab should be , and the spot elevation on the west side of the slab should be These elevations should extend the full north/south length of the pad. 3. Refer to SHEET A103, CONCRETE SLAB AT HOME AND VISITOR BLEACHERS A. At plan titles add a north arrow pointing to the right. B. At plan titles add the word SIDE after HOME and after VISITOR. C. At Home Side Plan, at the field side of the plan, move an arrow from the note Existing 8 CMU Wall to point to the 40 long section of the retaining wall that is existing. D. At the southeast corner of the home side bleacher pad, note the 5 wide paved areas extending south and east as Concrete Sidewalk. Where these two sidewalks join the pad add EJ (expansion joint) and where lines are drawn across the walks every 5 add CJ (contraction joint). E. At the northwest corner of the home side bleacher pad, add a note Concrete Steps With 4 7 Ea. and 3 11 Ea. Where the 7 x 7-3 sidewalk abuts the steps add EJ (expansion joint). F. At the south end of the visitor side bleacher pad, where the steps and walks extend west to the gate, add a note Concrete Steps 3 Sets with 3 7 Ea and 2 11 Ea. Where the 7 wide sidewalk abuts the bottom steps add EJ (expansion joint). At the middle of the 7 x 9 sidewalk at the gate add a CJ across the walk. G. At the south end of the visitor side pad, west side, delete a 2-8 wide by 18-7 long section of concrete pad and the 18-7 long section of the CMU retaining wall and footing on the west edge of the area. On the slab that remains east of this deleted area, thicken the west edge of the slab per detail 7/S3.0. Extend the 7 wide sidewalk 2-8 east to join the revised pad slab with an expansion joint. At a point 76-0 south of the 50-yard line turn the CMU retaining wall and footing back 3-4 to the east. 4. Refer to SHEET A104, PHASE 3 BLEACHER PLANS HOME AND VISITOR A. At south end of visitor side bleachers, at stair shown with Detail 3/A105, add a note Aluminum Stair and Landing by Bleacher Contractor. 3 Ramp with Guardrails and Handrails each Side by Bleacher Contractor. B. At the aluminum stair on the south end of the visitor side bleachers, change the dimension for the width of the stair and landing from 11-0 to 8-0. C. At the fence located on the ground at front of visitor side bleachers change the note to read New 4 Chain Link Fence By Sitework Contractor. D. At guardrail/fence along field side of the home side bleacher pad, add a note New 42 High Chain Link Fence/Guardrail by Site Work Contractor. 5. Refer to SHEET A105, SECTION AT BLEACHERS HOME AND VISITORS, and A106, SECTION AT BLEACHERS PRESSBOX A. At Section 1/A105 AND 1/A106, at note indicating New 42 fence/guardrail, at front side of bleacher pad add By Site Work Contractor. 6. Refer to SHEET A106, SECTION AT BLEACHERS PRESSBOX A. In lower right corner of sheet where a title says Phase 3 (Bleachers and Press Box), complete the note to read Note, All Concrete Slabs and Retaining Walls Shown On These Sections Are Included In The Site Work Contract (Phase 2). B. At Detail 5/A106, delete the word Ramp from the title. 7. Refer to SHEET A108, ALTERNETE FOUNDATION DETAILS A. At Title for 2/A108 change the word Front to Rear. B. At 1/A108 add a general note as follows: GENERAL NOTE If Alternate No. 1 is accepted the Bleacher Contractor shall submit detailed drawings for the press box understructure and the foundations. The drawings shall include the seal of the structural engineer who must be licensed in the State of Alabama. 8. Refer to SHEET S2.0, NEW CONCRETE SLAB AND FOUNDATION PLANS A. Add a north arrow pointing to the right. B. At the sidewalks extending from the southeast corner of bleacher support pad, change the 6 dimensions for spacing of contraction joints to 5-0. C. At the south end of the visitor side bleacher pad on the west side delete a 2-8 x 18-7 long portion of the slab and an 18-7 long portion of the retaining wall and footing shown in Detail 8/S3.0. At the north end of the deleted slab area turn the retaining wall and footing back eastward for 3-4. At the west side of the slab that remains after deleting the 2-8 width provide a turn down on the edge per detail 7/S3.0. Extend the 7 wide sidewalk eastward 2-8 to join the new slab edge. SPECIFICATIONS 1. Refer to SECTION SEALS PAGES A. At the Seals Page that contains the seal of William R. Wible, Registered Architect, make the following changes: (1) Revise the title under SEALS PAGE to read as follows: CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATION RESPONSIBILITY (2) Replace the first sentence with the follows: The following specification sections of the Project Specifications have been prepared under the responsible supervision of the architect or engineer whose seal appears below. (3) Change the division numbers at last entry to read as follows: DIVISION 04 through DIVISION 13, All Sections (4) Add division numbers as follows: DIVISION 31 and 32 A. Add the attached Seals Page that contains the seal of Terrance W. Grant, Registered Engineer. 2. Refer to SECTION TABLE OF CONTENTS A. After Section Site Clearing, insert, in bold type, DIVISION 32 EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS. 3. Refer to SUPPLEMENT TO GENERAL CONDITIONS of the CONTRACT A. 4 4. Refer to SECTION SUMMARY A. At paragraph 1.1 PROJECT, subparagraph A, add an S to correct the spelling of BILLINGSLEY. B. At paragraph 1.3 CONTRACT TIME, change subparagraph B to A. At this subparagraph delete the last sentence and insert in lieu thereof the following: Each Notice to Proceed will state the date for completion for work using the number of calendar days shown herein. 5. Refer to SECTION CONCRETE REINFORCING A. At paragraph 2.01, change subparagraph B to C and add a new subparagraph B as follows: B. Carbon Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement: Deformed type, Grade 60 meeting ASTM A Refer to SECTION BLEACHERS AND PRESS BOX A. At paragraph 1.06, B, change (AMAC) to (AMHC). B. At paragraph 2.03 PRESS BOX, at subparagraph A, at the end of item 1, add a new sentence as follows: The understructure may be a welded aluminum frame, or a steel column and beam frame, at the manufacturer s option. The bleacher/press box bidder shall state at the bid opening whether the understructure proposed is a welded aluminum frame or steel column and beam frame. C. At paragraph 2.03 PRESS BOX, at subparagraph C, make the following changes: (1) At item 2, change the plywood thickness to ¾. (2) At item 5, add the thickness of the PVC roof membrane as 60 mil. 7. Refer to SECTION EARTHWORK A. At paragraph 1.01, subparagraph A, item 1, after the word Removal, add the word and. At the end of the last sentence, add the words if approved by the independent testing lab as suitable for structural fill. B. At paragraph 1.02, subparagraph A, item 2, add the correct section number as C. At paragraph 2.01, Materials, make the following changes: (1) At subparagraph A, after Topsoil: add the word See. (2) Change the second subparagraph C to E Silt Fencing Fabrics. (3) Add a new subparagraph F as follows: F. Offsite Earth Fill (Borrow): 1. Offsite borrow shall be approved by the testing lab representative for use as structural fill. This borrow will only be required when on-site fill materials are insufficient or unsuitable for use as structural fill. (4) Add a new subparagraph G as follows: G. Sand At Sidewalks: Provide clean sand for use under sidewalks where removal of topsoil, or other unsuitable material, exceeds a 3 depth below adjacent grades. D. At paragraph 3.09, Field Quality Control, at the end of subparagraph F add the following: Proof rolling will be required at all areas with concrete pads for bleachers or press box support.
