1 WATERPROOFING paste AQUABIT One component paste water-based waterproofing, modified to improve workability and covering features. The product is enriched with polystyrene microspheres that allow the application in one coat with thicknesses up to 3 mm. This way, it is possible to fill and smooth the irregularities of the support. Aquabit, thanks to its high elasticity, can support potential movements of the substrate and it is applicable in one coat, even on irregular supports such as foundations, roofs, terraces, balconies and flower boxes. BENEFITS Tiles can be directly glued on Aquabit with a good adhesive for outdoor. It can be applied in just one coat. It does not need a reinforcement mesh. Excellent filling properties of cracks and irregularities of the support. High elasticity. It resists up to 5 atm in positive pressure. Easy and quick application. Seamless. Totally cold application. It can be applied on cement without primer. It can be applied on existing tiled floorings in combination with Grip Primer (see technical data sheet). LEED accredited. YIELD.0 l/m for about.5 mm of thickness. APPLICATION FIELDS Product designed to waterproof terraces, balconies, foundations and flower boxes. Thanks to the high versatility and the thixotropy, the product is suitable for all areas, horizontal or vertical, where the waterproofing is more difficult. Aquabit can be applied on tiled surfaces in combination with Grip Primer (see technical data sheet). Product suitable for indoor and outdoor. PACKAGING 10 l and 5 l plastic bucket. Pallet: - n 60 buckets, 10 l each (total 600 l); - n 40 buckets, 5 l each (total 1000 l ). 4 PREPARATION OF SUPPORT The support must be completely hardened and resistant enough. Otherwise restore it with suitable cement mortar. The surface must be completely clean, dry, well consolidated, without debris or detaching parts. Do not apply over much damaged surfaces. Before the application of the product, it is recommended to cover each element that will not be coated. If applied on terraces or balconies, the support must have appropriate slopes for the down flow of the rainwater. Concrete In case of damaged or crumbly concrete, restore it with Rebuild CLS (see technical data sheet). To obtain a better adhesion on smooth concrete, on not moist supports, it is possible to Grip Primer (see technical data sheet). If the support is moist or affected by rising damp, it is strictly necessary the use of WATstop as vapour barrier (see technical data sheet). Smooth or tiled surfaces Old floorings must be well bonded to the support (otherwise remove them and fill with cement mortar) and do not show traces of detaching substances like greases, oils, chemical products etc. on the surfaces. According to the wide range of tiles on the market, it is recommended to perform a test to verify the correct product adhesion. Tiled flooring must be treated with Grip Primer (see technical data sheet) before the application of the waterproofing Aquabit. Wood Aquabit can be directly applied on not treated wood surfaces or on OSB panels, without the primer. Steel Aquabit can directly be applied on not treated steel surfaces, without primer. For supports not mentioned in technical data sheet, please contact Diasen technical department. Treatment of expansion joints Joints must be sealed with the polyurethane sealant Diaseal Strong (see technical data sheet) before the application of Aquabit. MIXING Aquabit is a one-component and ready to use product. Mix the product until obtaining a homogeneous mixture, without clumps. Do not dilute and never add other substances to the product. APPLICATION Waterproofing of vertical surfaces Apply Aquabit in one coat by spatula, creating a thickness of about mm. Right after the application, smooth the surface of Aquabit by spatula. Perform the application with a constant thickness, in order to create a continuous coat, well bonded to the support. Do not interrupt the work on horizontal and vertical joints or on angles. Waterproofing of terraces and balconies 1. Waterproof vertical joints with Safety Joint Top (see technical data sheet).. Apply Aquabit in one coat by spatula, realizing a thickness of about mm. 3. Once the product is dry, apply the tiles with a good water-based glue for outdoor. Aquabit can also be applied by DS-1500 Texture Sprayer peristaltic pumps (Diasen product), 6 mm nozzle diameter, 7.5 m hose and 5 mm diameter. Polystyrene panels Aquabit can directly be applied on closed cells polystyrene panels, if their surfaces are not treated. The product does not need primer. 4/5

5 DRYING TIME At a temperature of 0 C-68 F and 40% relative humidity, the product dries completely in about 6 hours. If applied in higher thickness, the product may dry on the surface, but it will take more time to dry in depth. Protect the product from water contact until it is completely dry. Drying time is influenced by environmental relative humidity and by temperature and may significantly change. In case of application in direct contact with the soil, at the end of the drying time and before the embankment, protect Aquabit with PVC sheets or membranes, to prevent potential damages caused by roots or stones. If applied with a higher yield than the expected one, drying time may significantly increase. During summer season, apply the product in the cooler hours of the day, away from sunlight. Do not apply with imminent threat of rain or frost, in conditions of strong fog or with relative humidity higher than 70%. Apply the product on completely dry surfaces. It is very important to make regular expansion joints on the screed to avoid possible water infiltration. CLEANING Wash tools with water before the product hardens. SAFETY While handling, always use personal protective equipments and respect the instructions described in product safety data sheet. SUGGESTIONS Do not apply at environmental temperatures or at support temperatures lower than +5 C (41 F) and higher than +30 C (86 F). Waterproofing paste DIASEN Srl - Z.I.
