Clinical areas demand the upmost in cleanliness and hygiene. Use high performance coatings and pale colours to create a light and sterile environment. Following the introduction of the Hygiene Code, which is part of The Health Act 2006, hospitals are increasingly under pressure to make changes to their infection control practices. Project Overview The operating theatre walls were previously coated in an unknown poly-plastic glossy finish which would mean it would be hard to adhere to. The Johnstone s technical specification team specified Johnstone s Multi Surface Primer and two coatings of Microbarr. The original brief was to paint the hospital s two main operating theatres, but the project was so successful that they are now ready to paint a further five operating theatres, as well as a string of support rooms at the hospital. Following numerous consultation meetings with advisors at the Plymouth Johnstone s Decorating Centre, Westdex Ltd initiated the move to change the original specification of a competitor brand after Johnstone s Acrylic Durable Matt was found to be a more effective choice for use on the internal walls throughout the new hospital.
