1 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is an indoor, durable, slip resistant film layer. When cured, the film can be easily peeled away without residue. Product Use 1. How long will the film last on my floor? The durability of the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is dependent on wear, exposure to water and chemicals. Film may need to be removed and re-applied as and when required to ensure performance. 2. What floor surfaces and grouts are recommended for 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating? The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is recommended on flat sealed floors (nonporous). E.g. ceramic tiles, vinyl, marble, granite, and polished concrete. Ideal for Bathrooms, Kitchens, Entrance ways, Laundries or other slip hazard areas. For Indoor use only. The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is not recommended for inside showers or bathtubs or on soft, highly porous, uneven or textured surfaces such as unsealed natural stones, timber floors and unpolished concrete floors. The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is suitable for floors with narrow grout widths and/ or shallow grouts. This product is not ideal for deep and/ or large grout widths, or floor surfaces that have a large proportion of grout compared to tiles, such as mosaics and small tiled floors. Floors with fragile grouts and tiles are not suitable floors to use this product, as further damage can be made on these grouts. Please refer to the User Guide for further detailed information. 2 3. Are there any floor surfaces that we know are problematic for adhesion of the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating? The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is not recommended for inside showers or bathtubs or on soft, highly porous, uneven or textured surfaces such as unsealed natural stones, timber floors and unpolished concrete floors. For Indoor use only. 4. Can I use this coating in the shower or in the bathtub? No. The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is not recommended for use in the shower or in the bathtub. The coating is not suitable to submerge under water or have water pooling on the film for a long period of time. 5. Can the product be used outdoors? No. The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is not UV resistant and is for indoor use only. 6. Can I trim the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating once it has dried? Yes. The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating can be trimmed using a stainless steel sharp blade, guided by a metal ruler. Please be careful when using sharp objects. Perform a scratch test to ensure cutter does not scratch floor surface. Please refer to the Application Video. 7. What do you mean when you say the product is removable? The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating forms adhesion to the floor surface from wet to dry. Once the coating is removed, it does not adhere to the surface again as there are no adhesive layers between the coating and floor surface. 8. What do you mean when you say the product has slip resistant feature? The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is designed to have fine inorganic particles in the product that creates a textured floor that isn t abrasive due to the round edge particles. The slip resistant feature (at the time of application) meets the wet slip resistance of +35 British Pendulum Number (BPN) (Australian Standard AS ), to reduce slip risks on wet floors. 9. What is the advantage of using a removable coating compared to permanent coatings that other competitors offer? The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is a product that allows you to quickly restore the floor back to its original condition on demand, when you no longer need the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating or when the film needs to be refreshed. It is a fuss free removable process, without the need of chemical or mechanical stripping, unlike permanent coatings. 10. What are the floating particles in the product when the product has settled over time? The floating particles are the fine inorganic particles that form the slip resistant feature in the product. These particles rise to the top over time. Mix the product thoroughly before use by inverting the bottle several times. Do not shake vigorously, as this can form bubbles and affect the final appearance of your coating. Page 2

3 Application 11. Is surface preparation required before I use my 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating? The floor should be vacuumed and mopped with gentle floor cleaner before application. Use warm soapy water to clean the floor. Do not use strong cleaning agents such as bleach. 12. What roller types should be used? Short mohair rollers (5-6 mm nap) are recommended to achieve a high gloss finish. 13. What is the best condition for application? The best time to coat your floor with 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is in a well ventilated area to reduce the drying time. Do not coat at temperatures below 10 o C. A fan can be used to accelerate the drying process. 14. How thick should I apply the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating? Follow the coating guide below on the estimated volume required for your floor area. When applying for floors with wide and deep grout lines, allow an additional 10-15% extra for the first coat. Area First Coat Volume** Re-coat Re-coat Volume 1 m 2 350mL 300ml 2 m 2 650mL >2 hours 600ml 3 m 2 1L 900ml **Approximately 25cm diameter circle per square meter. **The volumes for the first coat includes approximately 100mL for roller adsorption (6mm mohair roller, 230mm in length). TIP: After the first coat, place wet roller in clean plastic bag to prevent the roller from drying between coats. Ensure correct amount of product is used to achieve the correct dry film thickness. If dry film thickness is not achieved, peelablility will be affected. Grouts are generally porous and the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating will have a higher adhesion and may cause the film to tear along the grout line and not peel in one large sheet. This becomes more evident when not enough product is placed on the floor. 15. How many coats of the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating should I apply? A minimum of two coats is required, but three coats is recommended for more consistent film thickness. Three coats is also recommended when applying on high traffic areas. Page 3

4 16. How do you coat the whole floor? Whole floor application works best to create a consistent finish on your floor. Coating can be applied from wall to wall. Ensure to mask areas with masking tape to prevent overspill such as edges, drains or other surfaces that is not suitable (painted plasterboard). Please follow the User Guide to check the floor types that the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is compatible with. 17. How do you coat a small section of your floor? Small areas can be coated by masking the area to be coated with masking tape. This could be a mat shape outside a shower, entrance way, along the main walk path in the laundry etc. Ensure to apply firm pressure along the tape and into the grout area to ensure sufficient adhesion. Please follow the instructions below on how to remove the masking tape (Q20). Please refer to the Application Video. 18. How to coat a large area? Coat large areas in sections based on the length you can reach with your roller. Use a roller handle or extender to help you with this task. Start to coat from the corner of the room and work towards the exit. 19. How do you mask off a drain to prevent product spillage? Use masking tape to mask off drains to prevent products spilling into your waterways. Remove the masking when coating is complete and dried by following the instructions for removing masking tape. 20. How do you create a straight-edge finish and remove masking tape? A straight-edge finish can be achieved by masking the edges with masking tape. Once coated and coating is dried, use a stainless steel blade cutter to cut along the tape, guided by a metal ruler. Perform a scratch test to ensure cutter does not scratch floor surface. Carefully remove masking tape. Peel tape slowly. Please refer to the Application Video. 21. Should I wear any protective gear when applying the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating? Protective eyewear and gloves are recommended during application. Use in a well ventilated area. Clean up 22. How do you wash the rollers? Squeeze out excess solution from roller into disposable container. When dry, dispose in general waste. Wash off remaining solution with water if roller is to be reused. Page 4

5 23. How do you clean up overspill? Wipe away overspill with a damp paper towel. Alternately, allow the overspill to dry and trim away the overspill using the same method as the masking tape removal process (see Q20). Maintenance 24. Can you use cleaning products on the coating? Clean the coating with warm soapy water. Do not use boiling hot water or strong cleaning agents such as bleach as this can damage the coating. 25. How do you clean the coating? Sweep coating with clean dust pan and brush. Mop area with warm soapy water if required. DO NOT use strong cleaning agents such as bleach. For tough stains, consider using a bristle scrubber. 26. How do you repair the coating, if part of the film is damaged? Any damages on the film surface can be repaired by applying a top coat or cut out the area with a sharp blade and re-apply. Please be careful when using sharp objects. Removal 27. How do you remove the film coating? Lift edge of film from corner using a scraper. Please be careful when using sharp objects. Peel coating slowly at a 90 degree angle. Coating may tear in sections if tile edges are sharp. Find another corner and repeat the removal steps. Dispose via general waste. 28. What do I do if the coating doesn t come off my floor? If the 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating is difficult to remove, use a scraper to assist with the film removal. If the coating is too thin and the film tears when removed, a solution is to apply more product to achieve a thicker film thickness. Once dried, remove the coating following removal instructions. 29. Can the product be repositioned once it has been removed? The 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating adheres to your floor surface when it s wet. There is no adhesive layer between the dried 3M TM Slip Resistant Removable Coating and your floor, so once the film is removed, it cannot be repositioned and adhered back onto the floor. Disposal 30. How do you dispose the removed film? Dispose dry film in general waste stream. Large sheets of film can be cut up in to manageable size pieces before disposal. Page 5
