Woodman Brothers recently supported an employee to gain the NEBOSH qualification. This enables a level of in-house expertise and advice throughout the business. Lightweight, galvanized steel structural framing systems have become a very popular form of fast, cost-effective construction, providing greater design flexibility with a totally dry installation process. The product is a lightweight cold-rolled galvanised steel framing system. This is available as an infill system, typically fixed between a hot rolled or concrete frame, or an oversail system which is fitted outside the structural frame. These frames then work as carriers for interior wallboards and a variety of exterior cladding options such as insulated render, rainscreen cladding, timber cladding or natural stone. Woodman Brothers provide high-quality framing systems that are suitable for a wide range of applications in most sectors of construction. 4 EWI SYSTEMS Modern, thermally efficient External Wall Insulation systems that totally encapsulate the external building structure, wrapping the building in a breathable envelope and maintaining comfortable inside temperatures all year round. EWI Systems are the most effective way of insulating a building, with the least risk of cold bridging and internal condensation. They also provide considerably improved energy efficiency, weather protection and visually transformed building aesthetics. The Systems comprise of rigid insulation boards fixed to the outside walls, then middle layers combining basecoats and mesh which give the system strength and impact resistance. This creates a thermal jacket, which is then coated with a weather protective, breathable, durable, attractive render finish. Our EWI systems are fully warranted with a range of design and specification options available across many building types. They are Energy Saving Trust Recommended and BBA approved, providing a high degree of thermal efficiency and vapor permeability. Each system can also be finished in a wide range of renders and architectural elements. EXTERNAL RENDER-ONLY Our range of renders is one of the most comprehensive in the UK and have been extensively developed and tested to perform specific tasks. Silicone and acrylic based materials that repel water, keeping the building dry and keeping the outside clean. Our renders are flexible, crack resistant and manufactured in hundreds of colours to your custom specification, providing the customer and designer with choices to create a facade of real appeal. 5 SCRAPE RENDER TIMBER CLADDING Commonly preferred by major housebuilders such as Persimmon and Barratt Homes, scrape render is a relatively new process that became popular across Europe about ten years ago as a result of it s faster application, low maintenance and hard-wearing finish. The throughcoloured cement-based render has a finish that looks similar to weathered stone. When applied to a building s external surfaces, they are made to look plaster flat by being scraped with a nail float to create a decorative, superiorquality finish. One of the major advantages of a scrape render is that the finished surface is very hard-wearing, so that the colour doesn t fade and can be power-washed to looking as good as new after many years of exposure. Scrape renders also have significantly higher insulation and waterproof properties than you will find in traditional renders, whilst still allowing the structure to breathe. Another advantage is that the one-coat requirement means faster application with shorter programme periods, thereby reducing associated scaffolding and site costs and allowing the completion of ground works at an earlier stage. Scrape render has been designed for spray application and can be applied up to 28mm thick in two passes. Manual application is also possible. Woodman Brothers use a variety of scrape renders from Weber, Parex and K Rend. Specifiers should consult the Colour Chart and, whenever possible, obtain samples prior to specification. We also have experienced advisors to provide on-site advice both at the specification stage and during application. Detailed specifications can be provided for specific projects or more general works. Site visits and on-site demonstrations can be arranged on request.
