1 Purtop System Roof SPRAY-APPLIED HYBRID POLYUREA WATERPROOFING SYSTEM FOR NON-TRAFFICKED ROOFS PRODUCTS USED FOR THE SYSTEM: Purtop Purtop 400 M - Purtop Primer SN - Triblock P - Mapecoat I 600 W - Primer BI - Primer P3 - Primer EP Rustop - Primer M - Quartz Mapecoat PU15 DESCRIPTION AND AREAS OF USE PURTOP SYSTEM ROOF is a sprayapplied waterproofing system based on PURTOP 600, PURTOP 400 M and PURTOP 1000, two-component, solvent-free, polyurea membranes with a very short reticulation time. Thanks to its excellent crack-bridging capacity and excellent resistance to stresses, the system is extremely versatile and suitable for numerous types of roofs. MAPEI has created a letter and number coding system, based on the type of substrate and type of finish, to identify the various types of roof that can be waterproofed with the PURTOP SYSTEM ROOF. For applications not included in this data sheet, please contact the MAPEI Technical Services Department to find the most appropriate solution. PURTOP SYSTEM ROOF is divided into the following sub-systems: 1. CONCRETE, CEMENTITIOUS SCREEDS, TERRAZZO, PORCELAIN AND KLINKER 2. SMOOTH AND SLATED BITUMEN MEMBRANES 3. METALLIC SUBSTRATES 4. WOOD SUBSTRATES, OSB PANELS in combination with various finishes: A PROTECTIVE FINISHES B INVERTED ROOFS C GARDEN ROOFS (For example, PURTOP SYSTEM ROOF 1A stands for a waterproofing system on a concrete substrate, 1, with a protective finish, A). PERFORMANCE AND ADVANTAGES Due to the capacity of PURTOP membranes to adhere to various types of substrate, it may be used to repair the waterproofing layer on many types of roof. Rapid installation due to the immediate waterproofing and set to foot traffic of PURTOP membranes. Examples of waterproofed roofs with Purtop System Roof

2 Purtop System Roof Due to the high mechanical strength and dynamic crack-bridging capacity of PURTOP membranes, the system may be applied on any type of structure. PURTOP membranes are applied in thin layers (2 mm minimum), so no additional loading. PURTOP membranes have excellent resistance to alkalis, diluted acids and detergents. PURTOP 400 M and PURTOP 1000 are certified resistant to root penetration and are suitable, therefore, for roof gardens. SUBSTRATE 1. CONCRETE, CEMENTITIOUS SCREEDS, TERRAZZO, PORCELAIN AND KLINKER Check the substrate to make sure it is suitable for applying the waterproofing system. Prepare the surface with a sanding machine or by shot-blasting to remove all traces of oil, grease, dirt and any other material which could compromise the adhesion of the waterproofing system. Remove all dust and any loose parts from the substrate to leave a dry, porous, slightly rough surface with no contaminants. Repair any hollows, or cavities and form the slope or camber required using a suitable product from the MAPEGROUT range. If the surface needs to be skimmed, use a product from the PLANITOP range. After preparing the surface as specified, apply a layer of PRIMER SN two-component, fillerized epoxy primer and broadcast the surface with QUARTZ 0.5. If the level of residual humidity in the substrate is higher than 4%, and it is not possible to wait until it drops to a lower value, apply one or two coats of TRIBLOCK P three-component, epoxy-cementitious primer with a trowel or roller, depending on the condition of the substrate. When the primer has cured sufficiently (3-7 days), apply a coat of epoxy primer (such as PRIMER SN or MAPECOAT I 600 W); contact MAPEI Technical Services Department for evaluation. 2. SMOOTH AND SLATED BITUMEN MEMBRANES Clean the bituminous membrane to remove all traces of oil, grease, dirt in general and any other material which could compromise adhesion of the primer, and remove all traces of dust with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air. The membrane must be perfectly dry before inspecting the surface, and any damage in the membrane, such as blistering, tears or detached areas, must be repaired before applying the primer. A PROTECTIVE FINISH Mapecoat PU 15 Purtop 600 / Purtop 400 M / Purtop 1000 Primer SN dusted with Quartz 0.5 Concrete substrate

3 Apply a coat of PRIMER BI or PRIMER P3 solvent based polyurethane primer on all the horizontal surfaces and vertical upstands, with a brush, roller or airless spray. 3. METALLIC SUBSTRATES Check the state of the substrate and dry sand-blast the surface to grade SA 2½ according to Swedish Standards or prepare the surface using an alternative method, such as with a scrubbingaction or percussion-action cleaning machine. After treating the metallic surfaces, apply a coat of PRIMER EP RUSTOP two-component, epoxy primer with a brush, roller or airless spray. 4. WOOD AND OSB PANELS Clean the surface to remove all traces of dust, dirt and other materials and substances. Check the size and layout of the joints between the panels to select the most suitable product for the gaps. Apply PRIMER SN on the clean, dry substrate and broadcast the surface while still wet with QUARTZ 0.5. MEMBRANES PURTOP 600, PURTOP 400 M and PURTOP 1000 Apply PURTOP membranes at a temperature of between +5 C and +40 C. Before applying a PURTOP membrane, remove all traces of dust from the surface with an industrial vacuum cleaner. The temperature of the substrate must be at least +3 C higher than the dew-point temperature and the level of relative humidity must be no higher than 4%. To apply PURTOP membranes, use a high-pressure, bi-mixer industrial pump, with flow and temperature control, preferably fitted with a self-cleaning spray gun. For further information on application temperatures and pressures refer to the Application Data Table. Apply PURTOP membranes in a continuous coat over all the horizontal surfaces and vertical overlaps, and on the inside of drains positioned in the roof. If application of PURTOP is interrupted and then taken up again after the maximum covering time (2 hours), apply a coat of PRIMER M and form an overlap at least 30 cm wide. FINISHING A PROTECTIVE FINISH PURTOP membranes gradually turn yellow if exposed to UV rays. To guarantee the durability of the membrane, apply MAPECOAT PU 15 B INVERTED ROOF Layer of gravel ballast TNT (> 300 g/m²) Thermal insulation TNT (> 400 g/m²) + PE sheet (min. thickness 0.8 mm) Purtop 600 / Purtop 400 M / Purtop 1000 Primer SN dusted with Quartz 0.5 Concrete substrate

4 polyurethane aliphatic finish pigmented with 10% by weight of MAPECOLOR PASTE in the RAL colour selected. Apply the finish with a roller or spray within 24 hours of applying PURTOP. Broadcast the first coat of MAPECOAT PU 15 while still wet with QUARTZ 0.5 to form a non-slip finish. B INVERTED ROOFS (See Picture). C GARDEN ROOFS (See Picture). NOTES For further information on the products which make up the system, please refer to the relative Technical Data Sheet for each product. Recommendations regarding safe use and handling of the products are contained in the Safety Data Sheet for each single material in the cycle. Application of Mapecoat PU 15 If the system is applied on different surfaces to those mentioned above, or in climatic conditions and/or for final uses not mentioned in the Technical Data Sheet for the system, please contact the MAPEI Technical Services Department.
