Introduction Case Study Specialist Trencher Suppliers WESTQUAY TRADING Based in Warrington the team of 9 staff provide specialist equipment advice for quarrying, civil engineering and utilities. Stocking a range of leading equipment brands, attachments and consumables for a wide variety of applications. Trading are Tesmec s longest trenching distributors worldwide, for 10 years have promoted the Tesmec range both in the UK and worldwide. has developed a reputation for specialist equipment services for civil engineering and quarry management. Rock Hawgs are designed for Specialist Trenching Contractors Here s why; Specialist Trenching: Rock Hawgs are specifically designed to excavate the most difficult hard surfaces challenging any civil engineering, utilities or quarries. Rock Hawgs offer the only viable alternative to blasting: they do not fracture the underlying rock bed, a typical problem when using rock blasting. Haulage roads often feature heavy duty vehicles and underlying fracture damage will eventually lead to major pot holes or break up. Money Saving: Rock Hawgs offer cost effective alternatives. Rock Hawgs provide a one machine application to a series of excavators and hydraulic breaking equipment, crushers and conveyors. Material processing: Where rock is present the site can be levelled with excavated material available to be used elsewhere on site without being put through a crusher. Therefore eliminating the need to import new material at an additional cost. Road Construction: Road grading and formation is possible in rock conditions. Producing Type 1 material directly in one pass with minimal disturbance to the surrounding rock structure. Quarries: This is the new alternative to drilling and blasting. Rock can be excavated quickly, efficiently and in many cases more cost effectively than blasting.

Case Study Scottish Water Chlorination Tank Foundations Introduction Trading provides some of the most advanced trenching equipment to the utilities and construction industries within the U.K. and Ireland. Applications; The Burren County Clare Eire, Dig out 22km across major causeway access, 5 month completion. Restrictions - hard ground conditions, vehicle access, minimum road disruption and keeping re-instatement costs down. Chlorination Works, Crief Scotland Scottish Water required additional chlorination tanks and access routes. No blasting & minimal access. Rock Hawg used to trench and excavate into hillside, completed planned project ahead of schedule, minimum environmental impact. TESMEC Tesmec are a world leading specialist engineering company, with a firmly established reputation for supplying attractive, quality engineering for a wide range of industrial markets - construction, civil engineering, military, mechanical engineering. Tesmec have been experts in trenching technology since Successfully developed a proven range of equipment including; Tractor Tool Carriers Chain Saws Bucket Wheels Rock Hawgs Tesmec 1475 Rock Hawg The Tesmec 1475 Rock Hawg, is a massive 126 tonne rock excavator. It provides one of the most powerful machines for a variety of trenching applications. It is the only viable alternative to traditional blasting methods or for large scale civil engineering projects.

In Application Case Study: LAFARGE Quarry Whitwell Stage 2 Project - to level existing quarry gradient down to haul road IN APPLICATION Rock Hawgs have now achieved a proven cost effective alternative on site. None blasting techniques are proving essential on increasing applications and civil engineering projects. Rock Hawgs have been widely utilised across quarries, tunnelling and in environmentally sensitive areas. Meeting the growing demand for large-scale trench excavation Tesmec has developed the Rock Hawg for the toughest ground and rock conditions and is now successfully operating worldwide. Rock Hawgs are now utilised in a growing number of industries; Quarry Management - quarries and surface mining. Rock Hawgs have successfully challenged rock quarries, cement quarries, bulk rock excavation, rock surface planning and reduction Civils & Construction - bulk excavation of rock for construction Utilities - excavation of big ditches, large diameter pipeline Agricultural - soil reclaiming Rock Hawgs trench, excavate, crush and recycle in a one-machine application. Client Requirements; Main quarry level too high for new haul road constructed earlier in To bring down level of current quarry level and avoid blasting and potential quarry fractures close to the bridge area. Trench Size; 18m wide x 50m +. Project Completion; estimate 6 days Tesmec TRS 1475 with 2 operators. End product; crushed stones and reusable aggregate. Other plant; Dump trucks.

Case Study: LAFARGE Quarry Whitwell In Application Stage 1 Project - New Haul Road Client requirements; Construct a new haul road to provide heavy duty access to new working area of the quarry. Access haul road to underpass bridge and a major road highway. Minimum road disruption to the nearby road network. Limit to rock blasting because of the road bridge and underlying rock damage. Project; Initially very slow progress using traditional excavating diggers and breakers. Identified requirement for specialised trenching services. A Tesmec Rock Hawg Trencher was used to achieve this large scale trench in an optimum working time. Trench Size; 18m wide x 100m +. Project completed in 10 working days. Involved Tesmec TRS 1150 with 2 operators. End product; ready crushed to optimum size, crushed stones, reusable aggregate. The Rock Hawg has proven performance for trench excavation in reinforced concrete or solid rock, in many different rock types and terrain. Rock Hawgs simply trench, excavate and crush in a one machine process. The TRS 1475 can trench up to 3810 mm wide. The end result can be stones, gravel or sand for back fill or hardcore base. The machine is simply configured to suit the rock type being excavated and the crushing is part of the package providing readily available materials on site. The crushed areas are ready made for major civil engineering without hard-rock ground obstruction or the crushed material is discharged and ready for delicate back-fill around major utility pipe work. In mining and quarries the Rock Hawg replaces the need for vertical drills for blasting, rippers, pick hammers, mining trucks and primary crushers. Rock Hawgs certainly prove their cost efficiency with Reduced Machinery, Work Phases and Manpower.

In Production Technical Specification TRS 1475 ROCK HAWG INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY Tesmec Rock Hawgs provide unmatched heavy duty productivity on site. A continuous delivery of trenching, excavating and crushing increases output volumes from a single Rock Hawg source. Rock Hawgs trench and crush in one application and the end result can be stones, gravel, sand or aggregate. MACHINE DIMENSIONS Weight 110 T Height 4470 mm Drum Width 3810 mm Drum diameter with tools 1880 mm OPERATING INFORMATION Cutters (Rotary Carbide Tipped) 38 mm Drum speed RPM PRODUCTIVITY 10 Mpa - fragmented - density 1,3 T/m T/hr OPTIONS Rock Hawg Drum Guard Digging width 3810 mm Max trench depth 600 mm 80 Mpa solid density 2,5 T/m T/hr Digging Depth 760 mm Trench width 3810 mm 140 Mpa - solid - density 2,7 T/m T/hr In civil engineering projects sensitive areas can be trenched quicker with a Rock Hawg with minimal disturbance. Rock Hawgs offer very efficient trenching options in the most sensitive areas. For large scale utilities Rock Hawgs offer fast productivity especially where rock or ground conditions are very tough. REVERSE CUT TECHNOLOGY - For higher than average productivity Transferring the dug-out materials by a belt conveyor consumes a large amount of engine power. Rock Hawg replaces the requirement for conveyor by simply rotating the drum in reverse Reverse cut adds to productivity performance, with typical performance on a TRS1475 up to m³/ hour

Technical Specification In Production INCREASED OUTPUT In quarry and mining the processing of large volumes of rock and crushed materials is vital - the output can be set with a Rock Hawg. Output is determined by the size of Rock Hawg machine and operators can determine output size by the length of time working in one position. Output type can be lower or higher dependent on rock type, hardness, brittleness and configuration of the drum.
