2 Surface Preparation Concrete Surface: Must be free of laitance, dirt, dust, grease, oil, paint and any other contaminates. Prepare substrate in accordance with SSPC SP-13, Shotblasting or Diamond Grinding are the preferred method of preparation. Ultra High Pressure Power wash with mechanical scarifying are other methods that can be used (Consult Dex-O-Tex Concrete Surface Preparation Spec S-2). Other Surfaces Consult Crossfield Products Corp. Keyway s keyway s are recommended to be cut into the substrate to improve long term adhesion to the substrate. Keyway s should be a minimum ¼ X ¼ (nominal 6 x 6 mm) and cut in at all perimeters, around drains, protrusions, cold joints, pour joints, transitions and terminations. Job Site Survey A. Perform moisture testing in accordance with ASTM F1869 or ASTM F2170. Verify and document result in accordance with the specification. If the MVER exceeds 22 lbs (nominal 9.97kg) or the relative humidity (RH) of the substrate is greater than 99%, consult with CPC before proceeding. B. Inspect Substrate to verify proper preparation before applying any materials. C. Measure and record ambient temperature and humidity, surface temperature and the temperature of the material being used Do not proceed with the application if the conditions are outside the recommended parameters Inspect materials to be used. Verify material is the proper material and all components and sizes are correct. Inspect all containers and verify a proper factory seal with no signs of damage or leakage. Premix Liquid materials into a smooth homogenous blend before uses. Environmental Conditions All materials are mixed, applied and cured at the job site. Minimum environmental conditions are required to facilitate proper curing and Performance of the Products. Ensure conditions are in accordance with the following requirements. Ambient Min Max Temperature 45 O F 100 O F Relative Humidity 20% rh 85% rh Wind NA 20 mph Substrate Temperature 55 O F 85 O F Relative Humidity NA 99% MVER NA 22 lbs* Materials Temperature 60 O F 85 O F *22lbs/24hrs/1000SF per ASTM F1869 Materials should be delivered in original packages and containers with seals unbroken and bearing manufacturer's labels containing brand name and directions for storage and mixing with other components. Check materials immediately upon receipt, verify all the correct materials in the correct packaging are accounted for in good condition. Sort the materials and store them in a tempered storage area. OPTIONAL - Priming the Substrate if the concrete surface is old and porous, it is recommended to use VL Primer on the surface in order to seal the porosity of the substrate and reduce the out gassing during application of the Tek-Crete SL Basecoat. VL Primer Mix Ratio: 1A:3B Cure Time: NA Coverage: 350 SF Pot Life: 2 Hrs Recoat Time: Into tacky DFT: 2-3 mils microns Dex-O-Tex Application Specification Page 2 of 5 Tek-Crete SL-B

3 A. Mix together the following materials: VL Primer Comp A... (1 Parts by Volume) VL Primer Comp B... (3 Part by Volume) Measure out the required amount of Component A and Component B and pour into a clean mixing container, scraping the sides and bottom of cans to insure all materials are used. Mix with a low speed electrical mixer for approximately three minutes to a homogenous blend. B. Apply a thin coat of VL Primer using a trowel, squeegee, or roller over the area to be coated. Do not allow primer to puddle or be applied too thick. A Four gallon (1 gal A: 3 gal B) mixture should cover approximately 1400 square feet (350 sq. ft. / mixed gallon, sm per mixed liter) over smooth surface. Allow to take an initial set (VL Primer will start to turn clear) Proceed immediately with application of Tek- Crete SL Basecoat into tacky primer. STEP ONE Application of Basecoat SINGLE UNITS Tek-Crete SL Basecoat Mix Ratio: 1A:0.8B: 1C* Pot Life: 20 mins Cure Time: 6 hrs Recoat Time: 6-48 hrs Coverage: SF DFT: mils micron OR *C- 47 lbs. Tek-Crete SL Powder DOUBLE UNITS Tek-Crete SL Basecoat Mix Ratio: 2A:1.6B: 2C* Pot Life: 20 mins Cure Time: 6 hrs Recoat Time: 6-48 hrs Coverage: SF DFT: mils m micron *C- 47 lbs. Tek-Crete SL Powder of each container should be mixed at the time of application. A. Pour the contents of Tek-Crete SL Liquid Component B (0.8 Single or 1.6 gal. Double) into Component A (1 gal single or 2 gal Double ) and blend thoroughly with a small Jiffy Blade powered by a hand drill for approx. two minutes until completely homogenous. B. Pour the blended A & B Components into the Koal mixer bucket and while blending gradually add one bag per single unit or two bags for a double unit of Tek-Crete SL Aggregate (47 lbs.) and mix thoroughly (about 2 minute) until the particles are well wetted out and the matrix has a creamy appearance. Lower temperatures require longer mixing times. If Mixing with Drill Motor and Paddle, pour the blended A & B Components into a large mixing vessel and while blending with a large blade gradually add one bag per single unit or two bags for a double unit of Tek-Crete SL Aggregate (47 lbs.) and mix thoroughly (about 2 minute) until the particles are well wetted out and the matrix has a creamy appearance. C. Pour the material in long thin ribbons on the floor. Screed the material into place using a gauge rake, notch trowel, squeegee, or trowel. Place the Tek-Crete SL mixed material at a rate of approximately 40 square feet ( ) per single unit or 80 square feet (7.432 m 2 ) per double unit. D. Place material so that you can also work back into a wet edge. E. Immediately work out all gauge rake lines and ridges with using a looped roller or smoother. Work back and forth slowly to even out material. Be careful not to work air into the Tek-Crete matrix. NOTE: Tek-Crete Resins are packaged in factory premeasured units at the proper ratios. All the content F. After approximately 3-5 minutes, use a spike roller and roll over the entire floor surface to allow for air release from the Tek-Crete matrix Dex-O-Tex Application Specification Page 3 of 5 Tek-Crete SL-B

4 and reduce surface tension to allow for better flowability. CAUTION: Do not try and work the material once it starts to set. You can see when the material is beginning to set when it starts to turn from a glossy surface to a satin type of appearance. Once the material reaches this state it will no longer flow and cannot be troweled. CAUTION: Pot life of this mixture is approximately 20 minutes. It is important that the procedure be coordinated so that the mixing and application processes proceed in an efficient manner so that the material is poured immediately after mixing so that the material will self-level. STEP TWO Broadcasting Aggregate Silica Sand Aggregate OPTION: Aluminim Oxide Aggregate Coverage: 2.3 lbs per sq.ft. 100 lbs. bag 42 sq.ft. A. Immediately after the Tek-Crete SL mortar material has been applied back rolled and flows out, the mineral aggregate is broadcast into the wet mortar to the point of rejection of the broadcast aggregate. Broadcasting the aggregate may be accomplished by hand or by mechanical Blower Assembly (consult Crossfield Products Corp.). Always loft the aggregate up in the air so that it drops down vertically onto the surface and does not roll. Continue to broadcast aggregate until covered surface looks dry and does not have a wet appearance. This may require broadcasting additional mineral aggregate to some areas as the aggregate settles into the basecoat. C. Care must be taken to thoroughly cover the Tek- Crete SL mortar with the mineral aggregate while it is still wet. Make sure the entire area is broadcast to rejection, and all wet spots receive additional aggregate. NOTE: If walking in the Tek-Crete Mortar while broadcasting the aggregate, spiked shoes should be used, and care must be taken not to leave any marks. Never walk on any portion of the floor that has received the broadcast aggregate. D. One bag (100lbs) of silica sand aggregates will be required to initially cover approximately 42 sq. ft. (3.9 m 2 ). Approximately 10% of the blended aggregate can be retrieved for later reuse. CAUTION: In the case of a small installation which is all to be done at one time, or in only two or three pours of Tek-Crete SL Mortar, additional quantities of aggregate (approximately 2-3 times that shown on page 1 of this specification) must be on hand as aggregate cannot be recovered for re-use. Allow to cure for approximately 6 hours at 70ºF/ 50% RH before proceeding. STEP THREE Removal and Recovery of Excess Aggregate A. After at least a six hour drying period at approximately 73ºF. (21ºC.), the excess or unadhered aggregates are removed. The surface is then lightly scraped and thoroughly vacuumed to remove all loose or excessively protruding particles. B. When broadcasting the aggregate, leave a 6 18 (15-45 cm) border of wet mortar at the edge of continuing work into which aggregate has not been broadcast. Apply succeeding application of Tek-Crete SL mortar up to this wet edge border while it is still wet. Continue to work new material into the wet edge and broadcast aggregate in the same manner. B. The swept-up or vacuumed up aggregates can be re-used. Use only a vacuum with a plastic gasket at bottom of vacuum head to prevent metallic discoloration. Sieve the recovered aggregates threw a fine screen to remove contamination and clumps of aggregates. CAUTION: Insure that the final surface of the aggregate is kept clean prior to finish applications of Quik-Glaze Resin and finish Dex-O-Tex Application Specification Page 4 of 5 Tek-Crete SL-B

5 sealer. Contamination can cause delamination. Pay particular attention to cleanliness of footwear and knee pads when sealing the floor. STEP FOUR - Sealer Quik-Glaze Mix Ratio: 2A:1B Cure Time: 3 hrs Coverage: sq ft Pot Life: 20 min Recoat Time: 3-8 hrs. DFT: 7 18 mils A. Mix together the following materials: Quik-Glaze Comp A... (2 Part by Volume) Quik-Glaze Comp B... (1 Part by Volume) Cautions 1. Read and follow Crossfield Products Corp. Specification S Obtain, read and observe MSDS for these materials. 3. The components are accurately measured for proper proportion. Small mixes should only be made for the Primer/Sealer. 4. For proper workability it is very desirable that the Dex-O- Tex Tek-Crete materials when mixed be at a temperature of 60 F. to 80 F. (15 C to 26 C). This may require several days conditioning of materials at such temperature prior to mixing. 5. Surface temperature and all materials to be used should be no colder than 50 F. or warmer than 80 F. preferably at a temperature of approximately 70 F. Use surface reading thermometer to measure floor temperature. Measure out the required amount of Component A and Component B and pour into a clean mixing container, scraping the sides and bottom of cans to insure all materials are used. Mix with a low speed electrical mixer for approximately two minutes to a homogenous blend. B. Apply the Quik-Glaze by squeegee, or roller over the area to be coated. Do not allow to puddle or be applied too thick. A one and 1/2 gallon (1 gal A: 1/2 gal B) mixture should cover approximately from 135 square feet (12.54 m 2 ) to 338 square feet(31.40 m 2 )at a coverage rate of 90 square feet (8.36 m 2 ) to 250 square feet (23.22 m 2 ) per mixed gallon. Always work into a wet edge. CAUTION: Quik-Glaze is a fast setting material and requires rapid mixing and placement. Take care to apply the material before it starts to set. This may require additional personnel to facilitate the fast cure and short pot life of the material. OPTION: An optional second coat of Quik- Glaze can be applied to a smoother surface profile. Apply in the same manner as described above. Must be applied before 24 hours after application of the first coat. DEX-O-TEX PRODUCT LINE Crossfield Products Corp.
