1 1.0 APPLICATION 2017/0/12 1/ This specification describes the minimum requirements for piping systems for the following service: Process Water or Underground Dewatering Service piping systems at pressures up to. Design Conditions F Operating ambient temperature Design, Fabrication, Assembly, Erection and Approval Requirements Piping Classification and Identification SPEC Identify and paint the piping system according to the requirements indicated on the project drawings or the scope of work. SPEC Piping General Requirements SPEC SPEC CSA B51 ASME B31.1 System Approvals Leak Testing Requirements Pressure Piping and Vessels - Quality Requirements Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Pressure Piping Code Power Piping Piping systems are subject to the approval of TSSA, Boilers and Pressure Vessels Safety Division. Note: Due to the ph of some mine water, this carbon steel material specification may not be suitable. 2.0 MATERIALS Pipe Fittings 3/4 and smaller Sch 80 per ASME B3.10, carbon steel ASTM A10 Gr. B, seamless, plain ends. Use Sch 10 where threaded connections are absolutely necessary and cannot be avoided. 1 to 14 Sch 80 per ASME B3.10, carbon steel ASTM A10 Gr. B, seamless, beveled ends. 3/4 and smaller Class 3000 per ASME B1.11, forged carbon steel ASTM A105, socket welded. 1 to 14 Sch 80 per ASME B1.9, carbon steel ASTM A234 Gr. WPB, seamless, butt

2 2017/0/12 2/ weld. Butt weld elbows to be long radius R = 1 1/2 x dia. unless otherwise noted. Use: Threadolet and sockolet, Class 3000 per ASME B1.11 and MSS SP-97, forged carbon steel ASTM A105 Branch Connections Weldolet, Extra strong per ASME B1.11 and MSS SP-97, forged carbon steel ASTM A105 For header sizes 12 and 14 Use Class 000 or Sch 10 for sockolets, threadolets and weldolets. Attachment to run pipe by full penetration welds. For connection type, see Appendix A Branch Connections Flanges Flanged Joint Gaskets Flange Bolting Unions Valves 3/4 and smaller Class 00 per ASME B1.5, forged carbon steel ASTM A105, socket welded, raised face. 1 to 14 Class 00 per ASME B1.5, forged steel ASTM A105, welding neck type, raised face. Bore of welding neck flanges to suit pipe ID. 1/1" - thick ring type - inside bolts, non-asbestos synthetic fibre, nitrile bonding, expanded metal reinforced. Dimensions to ASME B1.21. Gasket dope is not permitted. Klinger C-4409 or approved equal. Manufacturer's gasket material recommendation subject to Vale approval. Alloy steel stud bolts ASTM A193 Gr. B7, threaded full length, with semifinished heavy hex nuts ASTM A194 Gr. 2H with Class 2A fit on bolts and 2B fit on nuts. Dimensions to ASME B and ASME B Not suitable for this specification. Selection by the Engineering. Valves to be lockable. 3.0 EXAMINATION AND INSPECTION Examination and inspection must meet the requirements of ASME B31.1 and specific instructions in the scope of work. 100% visual examination for all sizes and thicknesses is required.

4 2017/0/12 4/ 5.0 REVISION AND TRANSITION NOTES Revision notes describe: what was changed, and if applicable, why it was changed, and the plan to implement the change, including whether changes are retroactive. Note: The revision notes are a summary of the changes and may not necessarily be a complete list. A risk code is entered for each revision and if applicable, the revision notes will describe how risk was addressed for the revision. Risk Code A Risk Category This revision is a minor change and/or introduces no risk. B C Risk has been addressed for this revision by the reviewer and approver. Low risk or no new hazards identified. For this revision, a PHR or other risk management tool has been used to address risk and minimize hazards. This risk assessment has been documented and is available through Central Engineering. Rev Revision Notes Document format and number changed due to Vale Engineering Document Program changes in Previous Standard number Rev 2. Specification updated. Approved for use in Thompson. Piping system approval requirements updated for Manitoba. Reference to SPEC corrected in Reference document section. No technical changes Risk Code Approved by Reviewed by Issue Date YYYY/MM/DD --- BML BML 2012/04/2 --- BML BML 2012/10/ AD BML 20152/11/23 4 See Rev 4 notes below --- MDF MDF 2015/05/ Review Reformatted Regional approvals removed - minor technical changes. Added SPEC and removed Sec 3 Testing, Changed Section 1 Table title to include Assembly and Erection per Code, removed SPEC as welding will be per Code, corrected bolting ASME specification to B , removed use of slip on flanges (not per Code at design pressure). Removed instrument isolation valves A M Fogarty A.Delost 201/11/08 A M. Fogarty B. Morris 2017//22

5 2017/0/12 5/ Rev 4 Notes Added ph comment. Added some reference codes. Changed Pressure Rating to Design Conditions, added temperature range to design and operating conditions. Added ASME B3.10 references to the Pipe Section. The lb. was removed from Class designations per ASME definition. ANSI was removed from ANSI/ASME designations. Added ASME B1.11 and MSS SP-97 reference to Branch Connection section. In Branch Connections, added Class 000 / S10 for weldolets/sockolets. Removed taper bore comment as it does not apply because all components are sch80. Revised the 10 and 12 extra strong fittings to 12 and 14 per the Table to extra strong fittings. Added SPEC and PROC-8300 reference. Removed content that is in the SPEC or PROC for clarity. Added inspection criteria per code. Clarified examination requirements. Rev 4 changes are applicable to any new installations and/or modifications to existing systems from this date forward.
