The aim of this booklet is to explain a little about the Company, its place within the Yuanda Group structure, and its intentions and aspirations within the European cladding market. We hope that you will find this introduction to Yuanda Europe to be both interesting and informative.

3 The changing face of the European Façade Market A little over ten years ago there existed more than ten major façade contractors operating in Europe who were capable of executing large and complex façade projects in the European marketplace. But the past five years or so have seen the gradual domination of a single Group of companies following the demise of the last of their major competitors two years ago, which has left Clients and Developers with reduced technical and commercial competition, lower market capacity and significantly less choice. In effect, many Clients of recent large and complex schemes have been left with little option but to follow a single company procurement route, often with the risks and issues that this brings in times of high demand. It is questionable whether such a situation is in the best interests of the market in the long term, and so an opportunity exists for a new player to enter the arena of major European construction projects; the purpose of this pamphlet is to inform the market that Yuanda intends to become that player.

4 So who are Yuanda? The Yuanda Group is a large-scale international manufacturer and installer of primarily constructionrelated products whose 2007 annual revenue was 930 million, making it easily one of the top two global façade contracting groups. The company is perhaps the fastest growing façade manufacturer in the world and has now built more than 20 subsidiary companies employing more than 13,000 staff since its inception in The Group has supplied facades to a variety of world markets, including the USA, Canada, Europe, Russia, SE Asia and Australia and since 1999 has been consistently the largest façade manufacturer in its home market of China.

5 Yuanda have four manufacturing plants in China located in Shenyang, Shanghai, Chengdu and Foshan which are equipped with the latest European manufacturing equipment. The Shenyang plant also the Group s Headquarters includes dedicated facilities for European market projects as part of its ultra-modern 1.7km2 Industrial Park development. The Group has a total manufacturing capacity of 12 million square metres of curtain wall per year. Such continuous and significant growth has been made possible only by a heavy investment in people and equipment in recent years, of a scale simply not seen in the construction manufacturing industry in Europe. The Company has extensive design, engineering, testing, manufacture and assembly facilities, and carries out sheet metal fabrication, natural stone processing, PPC and PVDF finishing and gasket manufacture all in-house. In early 2009 the Company will open a new Façade Test Centre capable of carrying out large scale performance tests of curtain walls to US, European and UK Standards.

The Yuanda Group already has established and successful companies in the UK and German markets, but the Group is seeking to strengthen its presence in Europe and has recently acquired the services of a substantial team of experienced professionals with extensive knowledge of the key European markets, and in particular the design, engineering, management and execution of large and complex commercial and residential projects. Based in Basel, Switzerland, this team known as Yuanda Europe will function as a management and development team who will both support and strengthen Yuanda s existing market structures, and develop new markets within Western and Eastern Europe. Yuanda Europe will provide design and engineering resources to develop the principle façade solutions for European projects, as well as leading in the front-end support and acquisition activities and subsequent project management, quality assurance and installation phases. 8 What do Yuanda Europe offer? The Yuanda Europe team comprises senior façade specialists who are experienced in the acquisition, design, engineering, and management of large and complex curtain wall facades in the European market. This unique blend of technical ability, project experience and Client focus combined with perhaps the world s largest and most modern yet low cost base manufacturing facility has the potential to provide exciting new and cost-effective opportunities to the European markets, and to give Clients, Contractors and Architects greater possibilities to design complex and challenging facades which can be built at an affordable cost. Reference to the Group s website provides numerous examples of such projects already being carried out by Yuanda Group companies in the US, Middle Eastern and Asian markets; the aim of Yuanda Europe is to bring this capability into the challenging European market. Of equal importance to this blend of abilities, particularly in the current uncertain climate, is the financial security that comes with the full backing and support of the parent Yuanda Group.

9 Working with Yuanda Yuanda welcome involvement in a project from the earliest concept design stages, and can provide the full range of pre-award technical, logistical and commercial advice to a Client team that is expected of a leading façade contractor. The team are experienced in single and two-stage competitive tenders, and in negotiations and precontract service agreements. Following an award, the key facade details, submissions and material specifications are progressed to Approval by the Yuanda Europe team, and the major logistics and methodology are agreed with the Client s contracting team. Workshop drawings and the generation of production information takes place in Shenyang, next to the procurement and production facilities. In addition to Shenyang staff being placed within the Yuanda Europe team, there is also representation in China by European team members, so as to ensure effective communications between the European Design Office and the Chinese factories. In terms of available materials and products, there is a comprehensive range of finishes and infill materials such as coated glasses, terracotta and stone panels and aluminium and stainless steel sheet, PTFE and photovoltaic systems. Steel and glass facades in particular, point-fixed and structural glass systems are also engineered and produced in-house. A full-time, European-based procurement specialist is part of the team in order to handle issues of specification, quality and compliance. In-house testing of façade prototypes and production samples is carried out to AAMA, ASTM, BS or CWCT Standards as specified; the Test Centre can undertake static air & water infiltration testing, wind resistance and impact tests, dynamic tests, building movement simulation tests and thermal cycling sequences. Acoustic testing of façade samples can also be carried out in-house. Manufacturing and assembly for the European market takes place in dedicated factories which produce predominantly unitised facades for these markets, in order to ensure that the appropriate levels of specification and quality are achieved. Yuanda Europe employ a full-time production co-ordinator to assist communication, call-offs to site and ensure compliance. Transportation of completed panels from Shenyang to the jobsite is by sea-container, and takes some 5-6 weeks; this is usually well within the programme constraints of most major projects. The management and supervision of the installation process is undertaken by directly employed Yuanda staff, who work with experienced local (national) subcontract installation teams. Site set-up, installation systems and method statements are developed between Yuanda Europe specialists and the local project management teams.

10 Materials and Products Whilst Yuanda offer a full range of façade systems, their primary strength lies in the series production of unitised curtain walls generally of a module size of no greater than 3.0m wide x storey-height. Façade panels can incorporate the usual range of infill materials commonly used in Europe, such as: Performance glass, of either European or Chinese origin, incorporating Low E and high- performance solar control coatings. Aluminium sheet, stainless steel sheet or composite flat panels. Natural stone panels, ceramics and terracotta tiles. Photovoltaic systems Yuanda also has considerable experience in sticksystem facades (Ground Floor systems), steel and glass facades, point-fixed facades and cable structures, and Atria walls and rooflights, so that a full envelope package can be offered. A comprehensive range of finishes to aluminium is available to the Specifications required in Europe, including anodising, powder coating and PVDF systems. Independent acceptance testing by European Consultants will be carried out where required. Project examples of the above systems and products are of course available upon request.
