Kolbe Windquest Series vinyl products are designed, built and tested to meet and exceed today s stricter codes and to offer optimal design pressure ratings. These are high performing vinyl windows and sliding patio doors that offer many great features and options, plus protection from the harshest environmental conditions. To meet the most stringent Florida building codes, Windquest products are glazed as standard with dualpane impact laminated glass.* Designed to stay intact if the glass is broken by strong winds or flying debris, this insulating glass also helps to prevent forced entry and reduces the levels of sound transmission. For optimal energy performance, choose from one of our LoE glass options. Windquest windows and doors with their standard glazing are part of Kolbe s extensive offering of K-Force impact certified products. Built with durability in mind from upvc extrusions, both the sash and frame of Windquest windows have fusion-welded corners, that create strong corner seals. Available in white or beige, these vinyl windows and patio doors will complement any design scheme while offering the added benefit of requiring very little maintenance. The innovative design of Windquest Series windows and patio doors creates a reliable, high performing product that is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. Offering easy operation and a low profi le, the sash lock features automatic locking action, and has been impact certified for hung and slider window applications. The end of the tilt latch is shaped like a T and locks into the jamb to prevent the sash from opening during high velocity winds. 7 G LASS AND DIVIDED LITES IMPACT LAMINATED GLASS ** All Windquest Series vinyl products use impact laminated glass as standard, providing a greater level of safety and security from flying debris and intruders. This dual glazing system also provides better sound transmittance levels. To achieve greater energy efficiency, choose impact laminated glass with H K LoE glass and argon gas* or another H K LoE option. NON-IMPACT INSULATING GLASS ** Kolbe offers the option of non-impact insulating glass for applications where impact certification is not of primary concern, but a high design pressure rating is desired. H K LOE GLASS Kolbe s H K LoE glass option has a smart coating that reduces energy transfer through the insulating glass unit, and is designed to reflect room side heat back into the room during winter months. In summer, visible sunlight is allowed in while blocking 96% of the sun s infrared heat energy. The result is significant savings on heating and cooling costs throughout the year. H K glass is complemented by a warm-edge, stainless steel spacer bar system called Thermo-Edge. H K LOE GLASS Specify H K LoE glass for warm climates where solar control is necessary. H K LoE achieves solar control over a wider range of the spectrum than other types of glass. When tinted glass is desired to help reduce glare, Kolbe recommends using H K LoE H K LOE GLASS Recommended for all climates and the ideal choice for northern regions, H K LoE glass is the best performing of all low-emissivity glass products and provides maximum protection against heat loss and damage to furnishings from the sun s ultraviolet rays. TEMPERED GLASS Windquest sliding patio doors are glazed with impact laminated tempered glass as standard to address any safety concerns. Tempered glass is also available for our window units to meet specific building codes. PRESERVE FILM FOR GLASS A protective film called Preserve may be applied to both the interior and exterior glass surfaces of Windquest windows and patio doors. This film not only protects the glass from scratches during transit and construction, but also reduces the time involved in job site clean-up. GRILLES-IN-THE-AIRSPACE Allowing for easy cleaning, 3/4" contoured grilles may be installed inside the insulating glass unit. Grilles will be white or beige to match the vinyl color and are available in rectangular and marginal (Prairie-style) patterns or we can create custom patterns. 5/8" flat grilles and narrow brass pencil bars are also available. 8 KOLBE I MPACT PRODUCT DETAILS Dual-glazed Insulating Unit K-Force impact products are specially designed to meet the strict performance standards necessary to achieve impact certification. The durability of the impact laminated glass utilized in our K-Force products contributes greatly to meeting this criteria. Specially designed with a plastic vinyl layer between the two laminated panes of glass, the interlayer holds the glass in place if the glass breaks. Windquest Series products use dual-glazed insulating impact glass as standard, and have been certified to meet large missile impact level D, and wind zone 4 testing standards. Not only does this glass provide a greater level of safety and security from flying debris and intruders, it also helps to reduce sound transmittance levels. Design pressures in this zone often exceed 65 psf and can approach 110 psf. Windquest products with their standard glazing have been tested to meet the wind zone criteria for all the regions shown in the above map, including the area in red.

Energy Performance Data Notes: U-Factor Total The term U-factor refers to a measure of heat transfer through the window or door unit. The U Total values are for the entire window or door. A lower U-factor means less heat escapes during winter weather, thus reducing heating costs in cold climates. SHGC Total The Solar Heat Gain Coeffi cient is a measure of how much solar energy is passing through the unit s glass. The lower a window or door unit s SHGC, the less solar heat is transmitted into a room, thus allowing for lower cooling bills in hot climates. Vt Total Visible Transmittance is a measure of the portion of visible light that passes through a window or door. The higher a window or door unit s Vt Total, the more visible light is transmitted into a room. This value is infl uenced by both the glass selection and by the ratio of glazing and frame area. 9
