1 Introduction The Gallery Wall Rough-In Assembly (see figure 1 on page 1) is designed to support and make the installation of the Gallery Wall Finished Assembly easier. The finished assembly is a medical gas and electrical services assembly that installs in a wall in a patient s room where the aesthetics of the delivery of such services are important. The rough-in assembly allows the finished assembly to easily integrate into the facility s current medical gas system and is available to serve one patient. Figure 1. Gallery Wall Rough-In Assembly Gallery Wall Rough-In Assembly P6918 All tubes and fittings, supplied by others, shall be cleaned for oxygen use in accordance with the latest edition of National Fire Protection Association 1 (NFPA) 99. All joints are made with a silver brazing alloy with a melting point of at least 1000 F (538 C). Tube ends must be firmly capped and correctly identified. To help prevent galvanic corrosion, all copper tubes must be protected from contact with other metals. Rough-In Assembly The rough-in assembly is a paneled metal box that is easily installed in the stud work of the wall. The rough-in assembly provides support for the installation of the finished assembly. Medical gas tubes for each gas extend from the unit for connection to the facility-supplied services and have Diameter Index Safety System (DISS) connection points for connection with the finished assembly. The rough-in assembly fits into a standard 3 5/8" (9.21 cm) studded wall. Back-to-back units require individual 3" (8 cm) studs and 5/8" (15.88 mm) thick drywall minimum. Features Medical Gas Piping Medical gases are delivered to the top of the rough-in assembly gas kits and use one service connection for each service. Gallery Wall Finished Assembly The Gallery Wall Finished Assembly is installed in the rough-in assembly. The finished assembly includes the following: Connection hose between the unit and the rough-in assembly piping Connection point for electrical power Connection points for the swivel assembly Slide mechanism, as applicable The complete supplied unit, including the roughin assembly, finished assembly, medical gas outlets, and accessories, can weigh up to 100 lb (45.4 kg), depending upon the configuration. For complete finished assembly installation instructions, refer to the Gallery Wall Finished Assembly Installation Instructions (148003). 1.
