3 Wood Fence materials of wood shall conform to OPSS 1601 except as outlined under and Board or Split Rail Fence Rails shall be split cedar in good condition and of adequate lengths to build either a straight or snake fence. Posts and boards shall be the same size and type as used in the original fence Wood Braces for Wire Fence Diagonal wood braces shall conform to OPSS Chain Link Fence Chain link fence materials shall conform to OPSS Highway Fence Highway fence materials shall conform to OPSS Steel Posts Steel posts shall be T-rail fabricated from steel conforming to CSA G30.12 and shall be 2.5 m long Gates Gates shall be fabricated from galvanized wire or bars to suit the original. The frame shall be galvanized steel conforming to ASTM A 120 standard weight with a 25 mm O.D. Gate size shall conform to the dimensions of the existing gate unless otherwise specified CONSTRUCTION General All disturbed areas shall be restored to an equivalent or better condition than existed prior to the commencement of construction Grading Rough grading shall be performed to the levels, grades and contours allowing for the placement of surface materials as specified. Soil shall not be disturbed within the drip line of trees and shrubs during grading. Final grading shall be performed to the lines and elevations as specified in the contract. The final grade shall conform to OPSS Roadway Restoration The restoration of the roadway shall be scheduled to follow closely behind trench backfilling. The roadway shall be made and maintained safe for the passage of traffic after completion of backfilling and until permanent restoration takes place. Page 3 Rev. Date: 07/1991 OPSS 507

4 Granular subbase and base courses of the type specified shall be placed on the prepared subgrade to the dimensions specified in the contract and shall conform to OPSS 314. The surface course of the type specified shall be placed on the prepared base course to the dimensions specified. Asphalt pavement shall conform to OPSS 310. Concrete paving shall be not less than 150 mm in thickness and shall conform to OPSS 350. Gravel surface courses shall conform to OPSS 314. Surface treatment shall conform to OPSS Fences and Guide Rails Fences and guide rails shall be restored with the same type of fence or guide rail that existed prior to construction along lines and levels as specified in the contract. Fences shall be erected following the ground contour without stepping. A maximum clearance of 150 mm from ground level shall be maintained at any point along the fence line. The erection of highway fence shall conform to OPSS 540. The erection of chain link fence shall conform to OPSS 541. Posts for board, split rail, barbed wire and electric fence wire shall be placed at a spacing not greater than the existing fence and not greater than 3 m. Line posts shall be installed to a minimum depth of 1 m. Terminal posts shall be installed to a minimum depth of 1.2 m. Straining posts shall be placed at equal intervals not exceeding 150 m, if the distance between end or corner posts is greater than 150 m. Additional straining posts shall be installed at abrupt changes in vertical alignment. For barbed wire fences four wires shall be installed to a minimum height of 1.4 m. For electric fence wire a minimum of three wires shall be installed to a height of 1.4 m. Only one wire shall be charged. Gates shall be erected in locations as specified in the contract or as directed by the Engineer. Gates shall be secured with fittings to match the fence complete with latches, hinges, stops, hold openers and all necessary fittings. Fences shall be painted to a colour required to match the existing colour scheme. Two coats of enamel paint shall be applied. The construction of guide rails and guide posts and guide rail and guide post materials shall conform to OPSS Topsoil Topsoil shall be placed after final grading operations have been completed and immediately prior to seeding or sodding operations. Topsoil shall be obtained from stockpiles prepared to conform to OPSS 503 or, if the required quantity is not obtainable from stockpiles, the Contractor shall import the required topsoil. The quality of the topsoil and the construction methods for placing topsoil shall conform to OPSS 570. Stockpile sites within or adjacent to the contract limits shall be restored to a condition acceptable to the Engineer Shrub and Tree Replanting Shrubs and trees shall be replanted as specified in the contract. 5 Sodding and Seeding Lawns and grassed areas shall be sodded or seeded and mulched as specified. Sodding shall conform to OPSS 571. Seeding and mulching shall conform to OPSS Concrete Curb and Gutter Systems and Sidewalk Concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk shall be replaced to conform to the dimensions of the existing curb, gutter, and sidewalk. Sections of curb, gutter, and curb and gutter damaged by the Contractor shall be removed to the nearest joint or neatly saw cut. The entire section of any sidewalk slab damaged by the Contractor shall be removed. Placement of granular 'A' shall conform to OPSS 314 with a minimum depth of 100 mm as a base for the curb and gutter sidewalk BASIS OF PAYMENT Payment at the contract price for the appropriate items for the installation of sanitary sewers, forcemains, watermains, storm sewers, other underground utilities and their associated appurtenances shall include full compensation for all labour, equipment and materials required to do the work for restoration.
