TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION Profiles : Profiles : All frames and other profiles to be extruded in aluminium alloy to EN 755-9: 2001, Specification 6060 T6; tolerances in accordance with EN12020 except wall thickness (+/- 0,15 mm) and profile dimension (+/- 0,15 mm to +/- 0,6 mm). The thermally broken profiles consist of two aluminium halfscales that are assembled mechanically by the system supplier into two chamber profiles by means of two connecting insulation strips. Different colours externally and internally are possible. The profile system is supplied with the following quality certificates: - CE Marking in conformity with the Construction Products Directive for windows and doors. Initial type tests and calculations related to the performances for purpose of declaration, have to be procured by the system supplier after approval by a notified body. The fabrication and manufacturing control is of the responsibility of the contractor, possibly certified by a third party. - a certificate related to the functional performance of the system (including air-, water- and windtightness) - a certificate on the connection between profiles and insulation stripsonly the full set of 3 certificates gives a complete guarantee and is allowed. - A system guarantee consisting of: A 10 year guarantee on the aluminium (alloy), coating, insulation and functionality. A 5 year guarantee on the moving parts. Copies of these certificates and test reports must besubmitted, at the sole request of the architect. The thermally broken aluminium profiles have a frame depth 160 mm minimum for the outerframe duorail and of 70 mm for the vent. The primary profile walls have a nominal thickness between 1,6 and 1,8 mm. The glazing rebate height of the profiles is 22 mm. The glazing beads clip or hook onto the vent profiles in a continuous way without connection pieces; they are located in the same plane as the frame and can be located in the same plane as the vent. The sliding windows consist of two active vents (duo-rail, double side sliding) The sliding vents are positioned at both inner and outer side and the glass edges are positioned in one line. - or active and passive (fixed) vents (duo-rail, single side sliding) The sliding vent is positioned at the inner or outer side and the glass edges are aligned. The system allows for a concealed threshold, integrated in the floor.

Surface treatment : Available finishes include anodising and polyester powder coating or a combination of both. Application is carried out through a Qualicoat /Qualanod certified applicator. Colours : - anodised 20 microns - either standard (code) - or black ( code) - or bronze (code) - or gold (code) -Polyester powder in RAL-colour:... with finish of - either matt (30% under 60 angle) - or satin (70% under 60 angle ) - or gloss (90% under 60 angle) Thermal insulation : Thermal gasket : Bi chambered EPDM external glazing gaskets with extended tail, EPDM internal gaskets with extended tail. Gaskets postion the insulated glass unit in line with thermal break for optimal thermal performance. Thermal break : The thermal insulation is achieved through multi-chambered insulation strips made out of polyamide 6.6, with 25% minimum glassfibre reinforcement and PE adhesive strips. The width of the insulation strips is 30 mm (vent) 40 mm ( frame). In no case are other products allowed. The assembly of thermal profiles is carried out exclusively by the systemsupplier and never in the workshop of the fabricator. Infil foams : Polyethylene Foampower inserts postioned between the polyamide thermal break profiles in vent and outer frames. Thermal liner : Tubular multi-chamber PVC liner positioned in the centre of the outer frame. U-shaped finned PVC liner clipped centrally into the vent profile. Interlock assembly : Thermally broken interlock section comprising two multi-chamber PVC isolation profiles, two brushes, two EPDM gaskets and aluminium hook profiles, ensuring durable airtight connection.

Connections : The cornerconnections between the mitred profiles are realised by: - either crimping - or notching - or by means of conical pegs Each corner connection comprises a minimum of one aluminium corner cleat and one stainless steel levelling corner chevron. Each T connection comprises one aluminium T connector and two stainless steel supports. Crimping / notching of the mitres and connections is possible through extruded aluminium corners cleats inserted into the profile chambers. After cutting and milling of the profiles, the cutting edges are deburred and degreased. The cutting edges and punched holes are treated with a corrosion protective product. Before inserting the corners, a polyurethane adhesive is injected into the profile chambers. Weather seals : The sliding systems are equipped with: - 2 EPDM fin seals between frame and vent - 2 brushes and 2 EPDM sealing gaskets between the vents - 2 central filling plugs bedded in a ph neutral sealant and equipped with brush sealings with fin seal. The sealing gaskets in EPDM are in accordance with EN Drainage and airflow : A two level centrally drianded The drainage openings of the vent and outer frame are staggered with a minimum distance of 50 mm. Minimum dimensions of the drainage holes: 50 mm² opening minimum, ie diameter 8 mm either 4 x 20 mm slotted holes. Minimum number of drainageholes : 2 minimum for a window width of 1000 mm en 1 additional per additional 500 mm width. Advised distance from mitre is 50 mm. The vent profiles are ventilated by at least 1 opening with 5 mm diameter at the top, located at the ventframe junction. Filling plugs on the vertical vent profiles and draught flaps under the outside vent are required to ensure enhanced air tightness. Hardware: Rollers ZB0022 The sliding vents are carried by tandem rollers running on an AISI 304 stainless steel rail. The rail is seated in a polyamide housing and inserted into the groove of the frame profile. The wheels are mounted into a galvanised steel carriage by means of dust free needle bearings ; the movement of the carriage around a horizontal pivot guarantees a smooth distribution of the load of the sliding vent onto the rail. The tandem rollers incorporate the following features:

- the rollers allow for a weight up to 300 kg per vent - brushes ensure a continuous cleaning of the track - nylon wheels reduce noise and avoid corrosion - support blocks take the weight of the vents in locked position and extend the lifetime of the wheels - for ventilation purposes the vent can be parked in any open position The sliding vents are equipped with concealed buffers in EPDM to reduce noise; built on buffer for safety reasons. Handles The vents are lifted and slid from the inside through a single C shaped handle (ZB0024, ZB0026 with cylinder), that can be operated single handedly.the outside can be equipped either with a C shaped handle with cylinder (ZB0027) or a recessed grip (ZB0028). The handles are made of either die cast aluminium Locking mechanism A 4 point stainless steel locking mechanism integrated in the vent, hooks onto four locking points die cast alumium on the frame when the handle lowers the vent in its rest position. The cylinder blocks the movement of the handle. This system provides a high security level. The lift mechanism allows the handle to be operated with a minimal linear force which prevents a kickback when lowering the vent. The locking mechanism allows a night locked ventilation opening. Security Anti-lift blocks are fixed from the inside to prevent sliding vents from being lifted out. The sliding doors can be equipped with a security cylinder. All screws are stainless steel. Glazing : The system accommodates glazing widths of mm. Glass is retained by means of continuous EPDM glazing gaskets and aluminium glazing beads. At the mitres, the EPDM gaskets are continuous in order to achieve optimum watertightness. Glazing beads are clipped from the inside and flush with the profile plane. Alternative bead shapes are available. To achieve perpendicular frames the appropriate ABS glass support wedges from the system supplier must be used in combination with the infills.

Installation and fixing : The doors and windows are aligned perpendicular and square with the building structure during installation. The connection of the aluminium frames to the structure is carried out so that movements of the building are not transferred to the door. Appropriate fixing brackets in aluminium or galvanized steel are used. In order to avoid a thermal bridge, brackets must be fixed to the inner wall inboard of the insulation or in the case of fixing to the outer wall, they must be insulated. Tightness between the structure and the aluminium construction is achieved by use of a sealing membrane and an elastic joint with ph neutral sealant.sealant Direct contact between the aluminium and other metals must be avoided through an insulated layer (such as EPDM-sealing tape). In case of thresholds in marble, care has to be taken to avoid a thermal bridge (by means of EPDM gasket or PVC profile). The required number of anchors should be calculated and their installation has to be carried out in order to transfer the loads on the windows to the load bearing structure. The installation has to include the following: A minimum of two anchors both in height and width at both sides of the window with a minimum distance of 200 mm to the corner and the transom. The distance between anchors is 700 mm maximum. At the location of the lock an additional anchor is mounted to avoid possible deformation when closing the window. The thermal break in the aluminium joinery has to be connected to the thermal insulation in the construction in a continuous and perfectly tight way. 1. Connection to be achieved by means of rockwool or PUR non expanding foam 2. Connection to be designed by the installer of the aluminium frames Tightness between joinery and structure : - either appropriate pre-compressed PE tape - or joint with foam tape as filling The colour is defined by the architect. The width of the sealing tape (= depth of the joint filling) is 20 mm minimum.
