2 Refinishing of Park Shade Structures Scope of Work General Scope of Work Please see each specific shade structure for the sandblasting requirements, coating requirements and sheet metal removal, reinstatement and refinishing as required. Each shade structure has a specified date range that the structure is to be cleaned and recoated in. If weather is not permitting a mutually agreed upon alternative time can be arranged between the City and the contractor. When sandblasting and recoating please give the City hours notice to arrange for an engineer s inspection after sandblasting but before recoating to ensure no section loss has occurred. Also please note all paint is to be assumed to be lead containing. Contractor is to store lead containing materials appropriately and is responsible for debris testing prior to disposal to ensure the proper disposal of all material. All site protection is the responsibility of the contractor. Take precautionary measures to ensure that overspray is contained within the work area. It is the responsibility of the contractor to provide temporary power, water or facilities as required. The contractor is responsible for the safe storage of temporarily removed roofing material. A building at Riverside Storage Yard can be used by the contractor but transportation of any material required to be stored will be the responsibility of the contractor. Page 1 of 6

3 Eramosa River Park Shade Structure Florence Lane, Guelph, ON Scope of Work Schedule: To be completed between April th Welding: Fully weld the beams to the bearing plates to eliminate the future accumulation of water and dirt adjacent to the beams. All welding to be completed by a certified welder. Roofing Material: To be removed and reinstated to allow for preparation and coating of framing. Roofing sheet metal to be prepared and recoated prior to reinstallation. Roofing material to be sandblasted to SSPC-SP-6. Coating to include one coat of City. Please note sheet metal will be a different colour than the framing). To be applied as per manufacturer s instructions and to Page 2 of 6

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: Q1: The roof at Eramosa is in poor shape, should we still be painting it. A1: We will remove the painting of the roof at Eramosa. It will be the responsibility of the contractor to remove and discard the old roof. The City will reinstate a new roof after completion Q2: Can ICI Devoe Epoxy Bar Rust 235 Primer and Devoe dethane top coat be used as an approved alternative A2: Yes, provided they are applied according to manufacturer s recommendations.
