The 28mm deep glazing pocket positioned at the front of the framing is designed to accept thick heavy IGUs and allows glass to be installed easily with room to spare (catering for glass manufacturing and installation tolerances). This frame and door can be supplied in dual colours - one colour inside and a completely different colour on the outside. This deep glazing pocket provides a 12mm bite as required by the IGU manufacturers and ensures compliance with glass warranties. Reinforced tall glazing bead at sill tolerates high negative wind loads. Available as externally glazed or internally glazed (bead on the inside) as shown left. True captive glazing wedge allows reglazing from the inside when using internal glazing bead option. This is ideal in elevated installations. The captive wedge also offers increased security. Glazing wedges are recessed into the framing for a clean aesthetic appearance. Wide range of thermally broken sub-frames to cover most installations. Internal and external swing hinged door thresholds are also thermally broken. 50mm thick doors designed to accept wide backset locks. Compatible with other thermally broken frames. 4 COMMERCIAL THERMALHEART OPTIONAL JOCKEY SASH The image on this page shows the jockey sash fitted into ThermalHEART FrontGLAZE framing. Jockey sashes can also be fitted into the 100mm Series 824 FrontGLAZE and the 150mm Series 806 CentreGLAZE framing. Jockey sashes are designed to carry adjustable venetian blinds. Blinds are protected between the glass panes as shown below. The jockey sash will accept glass from 4mm to 14.76mm thick. For more details on the features and how the jockey sash works go to Series 606. Frame and glazing pocket designed to accept 24mm insulating glass units (IGUs) with required 12mm bite plus another 4mm to cater for glass production and installation tolerances. Sill and transoms can be glazed from the inside or outside (glazing beads on the outside) as shown left. Besides the conventional single colour frame and door this product can be supplied in dual colours - one colour inside and a completely different colour on the outside. Limitations: There is a sub-head, sub-jamb and sub-sill treatment to choose from to improve the weather performance. But please note dry glazed shopfront framing is not recommended for extreme exposed locations. Allow for mullion expansion on units that are subject to thermal movement. Door glazed with 24mm IGUs will be heavy and this may limit the overall panel size. Compatibility: We have designed a number of compatible framing suites that can be coupled or used together: Series 804 CentreGLAZE thermally broken double glazed framing (100mm wide). Deep glazing recess to facilitate the installation of the IGU and give the 12mm required bite with 4mm manufacturing/installation tolerance. Heavy duty tubular transom designed to carry heavy glass units. All FrontGLAZE frames come with ThermalHEART technology separating the inner portion of the frame from the outer. Glazing wedges are recessed into the framing for a clean aesthetic appearance. Glazing pocket designed to accept true captive wedge with roll-in wedge on the other side. This pocket will also accept silicone wet top one side with roll-in wedge on the other side. 8 COMMERCIAL THERMALHEART FRAME DESIGN FEATURES 150mm x 60mm Interlocking Mullion We recommend expansion mullions on all frames over 6m wide or any assembly that will be subjected to high temperature variations. For extra strength we can also fit mullion stiffeners inside the expansion mullion as shown far right. The reinforced mullion is approximately 30% stronger than the standard interlocking mullion, 826.FXD.2 Scale: FULL SIZE & NTS 150mm x 60mm Frame The glazing pocket has been designed to be compatible with other thermally broken AWS commercial frames, but more importantly: Pocket has been designed to give us the required 12mm glass bite on Insulating Glass Units (IGUs). The narrow top rail (shown later in this section) is standard on sliding doors and an alternative for hinged doors. The wide bottom rail is standard on all doors. 826.HGE.1 Commercial doors are only as good as the strength of the joinery/spigots. Matching Door Fully beaded 50mm thick heavy duty door stiles and rails (Series 852) designed to accept 24mm IGUs. We also offer a range of snap-on glazing beads to allow us to fit thinner glass down to 4mm thick. Door stiles have been designed to accept large backset (34mm and 38mm) locks. The greater the backset the easier it is to access the key. Double glazed hinged doors will be heavy and for this reason we have designed an adjustable heavy duty hinge. Captive co-extruded glazing wedge option (illustrated) reduces the chance of vandalism. Available as hinged, pivot and sliding panels. Top and bottom rails are secured to stiles with heavy duty spigots fixed to thick backing plates with high tensile bolts. 12 COMMERCIAL THERMALHEART STANDARD DOOR STILES PIVOT WIPER STILES Scale: FULL SIZE & NTS Standard Pivot Meeting Stiles These pivot (wiper) stiles can be used for internal opening or external opening hinged doors or centre pivot doors. The lock stile has been designed to accept extra wide 34mm backset mortice lock. Lock stile will also accept Lever Compression Lock or commercial lever lock. Both are fitted with 316 stainless steel lever furniture, refer following page for illustrations of these lock options. Weatherpile wiper seals. All stiles are fitted with moulded nylon end caps to keep dust and water away from the expensive lock motors, ensuring smooth lock operation for years to come. 50mm thick stiles used in Series 852 are significantly stronger than the thin 44mm stiles used in conventional commercial doors. All Series 852 door rails and stiles come with ThermalHEART technology separating the inner portion of the panel from the outer. Bolt guide/end cap 826.HGE.2 Mortice Lock The wide stile on the Series 852 door has several significant features: Stiles are end capped top and bottom to keep dust and water away from the locks. The one thing that can reduce the life of locks is dust, grit and water. Triple cavity stiles are more thermally efficient. 34mm backset lock allows easy access to the lock cylinder. This feature is particularly relevant on single doors. Stainless steel lock tongue and face plate. Patented lock fixing method ensures that the locks are rigidly secured to stiles suitable for commercial applications. Custom finger operated flush bolt with injection moulded nylon bolt guide/end cap. The lock stile has been designed to accept lever compression locks with extra wide backset (40mm) and the keeper stile has been designed to accept lever operated twinbolt. Both of these are fitted with 316 stainless steel lever furniture, If your doors are in an exposed location we recommend that you specify Lever Compression Locks. Lock stile will also accept extra wide backset (38mm) lever locks with ICON in 316 stainless steel finish. The keeper stile would be fitted with finger operated flush bolts when using these types of locks. Co-extruded Santoprene stile seals. Scale: FULL SIZE Recessed glazing wedges give a significantly smarter finish to the framing. These recessed wedges are carried through doors and adjoining framing. Pressure glazing beads Scale: FULL SIZE Removable snap-in COC cover plate with rigid PVC central isolator strip. The cover is also fitted with double weatherpile strips to reduce air infiltration over the top of the door panel. Multi hollow heavy duty COC transom maintains the frame dimensions 150mm x 60mm. Doors can be security glazed as shown, with captive glazing wedge on the outside. All centre pivot doors are fitted with weatherpile fringe seal. All Series 852 door rails and stiles come with ThermalHEART technology separating the inner portion of the panel from the outer. 826.PVT.3 Pivot stile Jamb Scale: FULL SIZE The pocket filler can be snapped into any of the FrontGLAZE frame sections. The detail above shows the external captive co-extruded Santoprene glazing wedge option. This reduces the chance of vandalism. Stile designed to accept: 34mm backset mortice lock. 38mm backset lever lock. 40mm backset Lever Compression Locks. Wider backsets make it easier to access the lock key on single doors. 20 COMMERCIAL THERMALHEART TYPICAL INSTALLATION USING SUB-HEAD AND SUB-SILL min. Head Sill 22 min FXD.5 Bead Sub-Sill Drainage Sub-sill 171 Custom injection moulded nylon sub-sill end cap ensures that any water that gets into this system is drained back through the front drainage holes. These end caps are sealed into the sub-sill with small joint caulking. Sub-jamb nests into the sub-sill as shown left. Sub-head Pocketed filler Frame Sub-sill has 20 x 6mm drainage 400mm centres under the front and central support legs. Sub-sill incorporates ThermalHEART technology to match the adjoining frame. AWS always recommend sub-sills under FrontGLAZE frames. Sill Sub-Head 50mm deep. Scale: HALF FULL SIZE Double ThermalHEART strips. Sub-head designed to give up to 27mm vertical adjustment to cater for head (structure) settlement. We get this by using the offset pocketed filler and notching mullions and jambs to allow full nesting. Sub-head incorporates ThermalHEART technology to match the adjoining frame. Co-extruded Santoprene bulb seal allows expansion and contraction in main frame. Sub-Sill Sub-sills are basically a flashing tray that guides water that gets into the framing system back to the outside. We never recommend tipping water down into the cavity wall (no sub-sill). 21 Architectural Window Systems Pty Ltd Note: The finer points of the extrusions have been adjusted to protect proprietary information TYPICAL INSTALLATION JAMB DETAILS Non Sub-Jamb Using offset pocketed filler (reversed) as a spacer we can secure the main frame to wall by drilling access hole through the polyamide thermal strip and screwing the pocketed filler to wall. Both the main frame and the pocketed filler have ThermalHEART technology. Seal frame to wall inside and out, 6mm minimum caulking gap. Sub-Jamb 826.FXD.5 Co-extruded Santoprene bulb seal on inner cover to cater for future expansion and contraction. Pressure fit inner cover allows main frames to be fitted at a later date after the wet trades have finished. This keeps aggressive cement render away from the metal as much as possible. The subframes would be protected with tape or similar while waiting for the wet trades to finish. 50mm deep sub-jamb. Double ThermalHEART strips. Sub-jamb incorporates ThermalHEART technology to match the adjoining frame. Always remember the worst enemy of aluminium framing is cement render. Cam Handles Scale: not to scale Cam handles are usually fitted to sashes that are not going to be fitted with flyscreens. ICON cams are only available in 316 stainless steel. Cams come with folding wedgeless keepers. Alternative MIRO cams are available in a large variety of powder coat finishes to match sash colours. Cams come with folding wedgeless keepers. Custom awning sash stop snaps into pocketed frame. The detail left shows the externally beaded sash. We can also fit an internally glazed sash, refer detail lower left.
