2 Awards and Achievements ISMEP, being the only project that received a full note in the Council of Europe Development Bank s 2013 technical evaluation, ISMEP is at CNN International s Documentary on Biggest Investments In 2010, CNN International s documentry called Biggest Investments documented İSMEP as one of the world s greatest earthquake preparedness projects. Thanks to ISMEP s Pilot Project for Better Building Code Enforcement, Bağcılar and Pendik Municipalities received ISO certification, which indicates that their systems meet international information management and data security standards. Bağcılar Municipality was awarded first prize in the Golden Ant Municipality Awards with ISO Security Certificate Project. has been identified by international funding institutions as one of the best practices of disaster preparedness in the world. 3 Awards and Achievements IPCU is selected as one of Turkey s resource centers 2016 in disaster and emergency management sector in the report Leader Country in Safe School Program: Turkey With the retrofitting/reconstruction works and disaster emergency plans carried out within ISMEP; Turkey became the Leader Country in the Safe School Program conducted by the United Nations in 2014 and began to share its experiences with other countries. 9th Arkitera Employer Awards IPCU was awarded the employer prize at the 9th Arkitera Employer Awards held in 2015, public category with creative architectural design in 44 schools that were reconstructed. In 2016, ISMEP was evaluated as a successful model in the European Union Peer Reviews Model. Thus, it became the first and only team in our country, which is considered to have international standards for heavy search and rescue.

11 In 2012, Cultural Heritage Protection In Times Of Risk: Challenges And Opportunities Symposium was hosted by Yildiz Technical University, International Monuments Sites Council Risk Preparedness Committee (ICOMOS ICORP) and IPCU. 75 experts from 36 countries attended to the symposium. Legislative Practices for the Protection of Historical Buildings The first workshop was held on September 1st, 2016 as part of the Project for Preparation of Guidance for Management of Earthquake Risks for Historical Buildings. With the project initiated in 2012, the first Protection Regulation, which contains the basic principles for the protection of cultural and historical heritage in Turkey, was prepared. For the projects built in the historic districts of Istanbul, especially in the historical peninsula, particular attention is paid to creating designs that are suitable to cultural texture In 2014, Protection of Cultural Assets: Restoration Practices from Turkey and Italy Symposium was organized in partnership with IPCU, General Directorate of Foundations, Assorestauro and Italian Trade Center. With the protocol signed between IPCU and the General Directorate of Foundations on April 26th, 2016, actions were taken to prepare the first Guide for Management of Earthquake Risks for Historical Buildings for Turkey. Üsküdar Mustafa Noyan Primary School, built by Mimar Sinan in 1583 and the Valide-i Atik Mosque and its social complexes, located in the same street, were physically designed to conform to today s conditions and appearance in accordance with the historical texture, reconstructed against earthquakes.
