3 PRODUCT CATALOGUE SEMKO Concrete structure pioneers The weather conditions prevailing in Finland have resulted in development of prefabricated element manufacture (walls and other building components) under indoor (factory) conditions. The concrete industry is at the forefront of this development, and Semko Oy is at its core. Semko Oy was established in Seinäjoki in 1975 under the name of Semtu Oy / Seinäjoen tehdas. Following a merger in 1995, the company was renamed SEMKO OY Semtun konepaja. In 003, the name was changed to Semko Oy. Semko Oy operates in the construction components industry. The main products include cast-in components and fixings, concrete handling equipment and lightweight steel structures. We mainly specialise in manufacture of standardised components complying with Finnish construction standards and Eurocode and approved by the Finnish Concrete Association. Operation of the factory (also referred to as welding workshop ) is arranged in accordance with EN :009 + A1:011. The manufacturing process and products are monitored by Inspecta Oy and Nordcert AB. The quality system is based on requirements of the standard SFS-EN ISO Special products tailored to the customer s needs constitute a significant share of Semko Oy production. Semko Oy also engages in serial production for example, carries out welding works subcontracting for various industries. Our qualified personnel is capable of excellent service and product manufacture in accordance with modern requirements. Our own resources and an extensive network of subcontractors allow us to offer the customers versatile solutions and short delivery terms. 3

22 SEMKO PRODUCT CATALOGUE GLUE GUNS In the field of concrete element production, ties, sockets, allowances, lifting means, corner mouldings and the like can be attached to steel, plywood or other formwork by hot glue without damage to the mould surface. Form oil possibly present in the formwork has no effect on glue adhesion. Hot glue guns intended for professional use are available with manual or compressed air supply. Three grades of glue are available, with adhesion time of 1, 3, or 6 minutes (longer adhesion time = stronger joint). Gluing replaces any fastening techniques damaging or staining the formwork surface and dramatically extends formwork service life. Formwork at element aperture locations can be assembled without nails, which makes dismantling easier and significantly reduces board material losses. In particular, gluing facilitates formwork assembly related to long or complicated channels on the element surface. Gluing is also much more flexible and user-friendly as compared to other procedures.
