3 Materials & Workmanship Warranty This warranty covers the panels against manufacturing defects. Examples would be gas blisters, delaminating, or shrinkage. The two-year warranty starts at the date of substantial completion or within 90 days of final shipment and offered at no additional cost. The warranty does not cover errors in design or installation and is not transferable. The warranty will pay the cost to repair or replace panels found to be defective. Extended Materials & Workmanship warranties are available at an additional cost. Not all projects will qualify for extended Materials & Workmanship warranties and must be reviewed and approved by Metl-Span. Corrosion Warranty Corrosion warranty is only available for Galvalume coated steel. The warranty is for 6 months from date of shipment and covers perforation due to corrosion. Depending on the environment, minor edge creep corrosion is possible and is not a product failure. Galvalume may exhibit excessive edge creep corrosion if exposed to salt, sodium hypochlorite, bases or acids. If the panels could be exposed these chemicals additional steps should be taken to protect the cut edge. For some applications, G90 Galvanized may be a better substrate. 3

Finish Warranty Metl-Span offers high performance coatings for a variety of aesthetic and environmental considerations. Our standard coating systems are suitable for most industrial and architectural applications. However, some applications or locations may require a higher level of performance. For these applications, Metl-Span offers coatings with clear coats and special or thick primers. Some applications such as food processing or stainless steel may be the best solution. The standard finishes warranty covers color retention and paint film integrity in normal environmental conditions. These warranties exclude marine or aggressive environments. Metl-Span offers a warrantable coating for severe marine environments. 1. Reds, Blues, and Metallics will have limited warranties due to the pigments.. For bright or vibrant custom colors, it may require organic pigments to achieve the desired color. Organic pigments are unstable and fade quicker than inorganic pigments. In these cases, a special limited warranty will be issued, the limitation will be based on the color selected and could be as short as 5 years. Remedy: Repaint or refinish area determined to have failed. 5 Weathertightness Warranties Metl-Span believes if a building owner has to file a claim against the roof manufacture s Weathertightness Warranty, then someone has not done their job correctly. Metl-Span s goal is to be an active partner to ensure: The roof is properly detailed before installation begins. The roof is properly installed before the warranty is issued. The building owner is satisfied with his Metl-Span roof or wall system. A weather tightness warranty is no substitute for good design or competent qualified installer. A successful project is ultimately the responsibility of the designer and installer. Metl-Span will work closely with the designer on product application and details. Metl-Span offers installer training and certifications along with field inspections. 6 Requirements for weather-tightness warranties Approval Metl-Span must review and approve the project prior to bidding. If the project has not been reviewed prior to the acceptance of the order approval is not guaranteed. Installation Drawings All projects with weather-tightness warranties must have installation drawings. Metl-Span must provide or review contactor installation drawings. Customer supplied installation drawings must have enough detail to erect the panels. It must clearly show sealant and fastener locations and types, elevation layouts and all details. The details must specific for the project and referenced to the elevations. Accessories Metl-Span must supply all sealants, fasteners and trims. The contractor may elect to fabricate their own trims, but Metl-Span must supply the flat sheets and the trims must be in accordance to Metl-Span standard details. Inspections All Standard II & III warranties will have a startup and final inspections. Additional inspections could be required depending on the scope and complexity of the project. Exclusions non-specified or materials not supplied by Metl-Span, roof curbs, penetration flashing, framing, windows and doors. Roof Curbs Metl-Span will warrant the connection between the curb and roof if specific conditions are met. The roof curbs must be purchased from an approved vendor, fabricated from welded.080 aluminum, installed according to MetlSpan standard details, and the sealants and fasteners are supplied by Metl-Span. 6

7 CFR Limitations and Considerations for Very Low Slopes (½ to ¼ in 1 ). 1) General Approval a) Single and multi-course panels runs in MBMA snow load zones of 30 PSF or less. Panel runs are defined as the distance from the eave to the ridge or high eave. b) Maximum panel runs of 150. c) Maximum purlin spacing 5-0. d) Light colors or Galvalume exterior finish. ) Conditional Approval (must be approved by Metl-Span) a) Weather-tightness warranty must be approved before biding b) Single and multi-course panel runs in MBMA snow load zones of 30 PSF or greater. Panel runs are defined as the distance from the eave to the ridge or high eave. c) Panel runs greater than 150. d) Purlin spacing greater than 5-0. e) Dark exterior colors. 3) Not Approved: a) Hips or Valleys. b) Internal or gutters located inside of the exterior walls. c) Parapets at the low eave of the building. d) Large roof curbs. e) High profile gutters in MBMA snow load zones of 0 PFS or greater. f) Any condition that causes ice damming or water ponding is not acceptable 4) Penetrations a) Roof Curbs: the connection of the roof curbs will be included if the curbs are purchased from an approved supplier and the sealants and fasteners are purchased from Metl-Span. The curbs must be insulated and be welded aluminum. See the list of approved curbs suppliers b) Pipe penetrations. 5) General Notes: a) The building s designer is responsible to assure that the specified roof configuration and roof drainage design is suitable for the building s specific climatic and operation conditions. b) Roof curbs are excluded unless purchased from approved suppliers. Design and performance are the responsibility of others. the contractor or designer. Roof penetrations should be minimized. c) An experienced, well-qualified erector must be utilized in the installation of roof systems with slopes less than ½ in 1 roof slopes. d) At all times the roof must maintain positive drainage. Any condition that creates areas of ice damming or water ponding is unacceptable. e) Maximum in-plane steel tolerances must be enforced. Any condition of framing misalignment or frame deflection resulting in more than 3/8 panel deflection between adjacent supports may be a cause of ponding and is not acceptable. This may require tighter tolerances than is allowed by MBMA, SJI, AISC, etc. Refer to the CFR Architectural Design Guide and Installation Guide f) Run off from upper roofs on to lower roofs must be controlled. Downspouts must discharge a minimum of 3 from pitch break detail. Additional downspouts may be required to evenly distribute the water discharge. g) If gutters are used, the low profile gutter should be utilized. Refer to the low profile gutter technical bulletin. 7
