2 THE STORY BEHIND GLOWWAY Glowway is a manufacturer of photoluminescent pathway markings and signs, founded by a Finnish glass artist Jorma Parkkari in The story of Glowway Oy Ltd begun when Mr. Parkkari was asked to design floor indicators that combine safety and aesthetics in a new and innovative way. While working with architects and fire officials, he noticed that there was a clear gap between the safety features and aesthetical design in the safety products that were already in the market. He also noticed a lack of low level exit path markings which raises a serious safety concern in e.g. smoke filled areas. The key elements of Glowway products are: Safety Accessibility Design Environment Soon after this, Glowway was born and combining safety with design became our mission. After years of product development in cooperation with fire officials and research institutions, Glowway has been able to build and patent a product line that has been internationally recognized for its innovativeness and elegance as well as the safety enhancing features. 3 We do not think that there has to be a compromise between safety and great design. This is why all the Glowway glass tiles are small artworks by themselves. A conceptual design of spiral stairs equipped with Glowway stair nosings.

4 According to studies, photoluminescent way guidance systems have advantage over powered lighting systems in terms of visibility in smoke, reliability, simplicity in installation and maintenance, long operational hours and cost-effectiveness. Especially Low Location Lighting (lll) was found to be effective in providing consistent information throughout the complete escape route. 5 We design our products in close co-operation with safety authorities and research institutions. Our company s operation is based on an internationally patented innovation. Glowway products have been tested in accredited laboratories and fulfil with flying colors the ISO, DIN and ASTM standards for photoluminescent exit path markings as well as the EN ISO 10545:2012 tests for breaking strength, chemical resistance, resistance to stains and slip-resistance. The fire rating of the Glowway glass products is A1. A conceptual design of a new state-of-the-art Aviapolis Train Station in Vantaa, Finland. The station will be opened for public in 2015.

6 We also focus heavily on accessibility. The Glowway Multi-Sensory product line combines two very important features; the products can be followed in emergency situations by using the brightly glowing contrast color and they also have a raised pattern that the visually impaired can feel with foot or white cane. Helsinki Music Centre implemented the Glowway Multi-Sensory Guiding System in 2011.

7 Glowway Multi-Sensory Guiding System is endorsed by the Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired (FFVI). Glowway Multi-Sensory Guiding System was installed in Siilitie metro station, Helsinki, Finland in 2014.

8 A conceptual design of a bathroom equipped with Glowway tiles. ENVIRONMENT Glowway products are long-lasting, and once installed, do not require maintenance as traditional led-powered safety signs. The glow-in-the-dark pigment is also non-toxic and extremely longlasting and the products do not require any outside power. Our products are truly eco-friendly safety products.

9 Pirkkala Main Library, Nokia, Finland, Glowway products have been installed in many public buildings and spaces from hospitals to army venues and also residential buildings locally and internationally. In general, Glowway products can be used in all spaces from where people need to be able to exit efficiently e.g. in emergency situations and/or electrical outages.

10 Glowway tiles are easy to install and can be installed the same way as normal ceramic tiles. Glowway tiles can be used with ordinary ceramic tiles or other stone floor materials. The tiles can be installed either during construction or afterwards. Retrofitting is possible on all kinds of concrete and stone floors. The round tiles have been designed for drilling installation. Glowway has developed installation tools to make the instalation even easier. These especially molded stainless steel chutes and cups help to make the final look very elegant. 11 Glowway offers a vast line of different designs and we can also make custom designs. Different sizes, colors and surface treatments are available and our products can be used as pathway markings and decorative purposes.
