3 Profit from cost-effective solutions. The DuPont Tyvek family of membranes offers protection during construction and over the life of a building. They consist of extremely durable lightweight flexible sheet materials manufactured from spunbonded polyolefin. Tyvek is suitable for use as breather membranes in pitched roof construction, most forms of timber and metal frame walls, and can be used in new-build, refurbishment and extension projects. Tyvek Enercor products are coated with a metallic lacquer. This reflects up to 90% of internal radiated heat in the winter and blocks up to 85% of sun radiation in the summer, saving energy by controlling the movement of heat, air and moisture through the building envelope and providing additional thermal performance. In the price/performance ratio, Tyvek underlays offer benefits over traditional solutions by minimising the risks of interstitial condensation. Whilst there are different kinds of vapour-open roof underlays on the market, most of which are multi-layer manufactured, Tyvek is the only product with a unique functional layer that is entirely made up of millions of unique micro fibres. These are bonded together to create a maze that stops water penetrating, whilst allowing water vapour to freely move through the fibres (pores). The micro fibre functional Tyvek layer can be used on its own, or laminated to a spunbond to increase specific characteristics such as strength, without affecting the performance of the functional layer. The benefits of advanced technology: DuPont Tyvek is the only roof underlay with a functional layer that equals the thickness of the product (in a single layer of Tyvek ). So for example: 60 gr/m 2 DuPont Tyvek layer is ca. 170μm; 80 gr/m 2 DuPont Tyvek layer is ca. 220μm Compare this with the functional layer of a multi-layer roof underlay, which is generally several times lighter and can be as thin as 10μm. The thickness layer of DuPont Tyvek has many advantages: Excellent resistance to UV; Long-term functionality; and Good damage resistance. Tyvek Supro is an extremely water-resistant, airtight and vapour-permeable membrane providing superior air and moisture management for commercial and residential buildings. By maintaining the correct balance between price and performance, Tyvek membranes have become firmly established worldwide, with more than 15 million homes built over the last 30 years. 7 ROOFING PRODUCTS Tyvek Supro Plus Tyvek Supro, but with integral adhesive lap tape. A Tyvek non-ventilated pitched roof system will help to minimise the risk of condensation, but air infiltration and convective heat losses can also be reduced. This can be achieved by sealing all laps, penetrations and around the perimeter of a Tyvek membrane with adhesive tape. Through building tight DuPont Climate Systems helps to reduce heat transfer, unwanted air leakage and the loss of energy from a home. Boosts existing insulation The low emissivity of Tyvek Enercor reduces radiant heat loss through walls and roofs. DuPont AirGuard boosts the thermal insulation performance by reflecting 90% of the radiant heat in the winter, back into the home. 11 INTERNAL LINING Tyvek SD2 Internal Air Leakage Barrier/ Vapour Control Layer for roofs, walls and floors. Installing Tyvek SD2 as part of the internal lining will help to reduce the rate of heat lost by convection through the building fabric. A continuous layer of Tyvek SD2 will provide a barrier to air movement around the habitable space of the building. Tyvek SD2 has been specifically developed for use as an air leakage barrier, but will also contribute in controlling the passage of vapour through a structure. This will particularly apply to vapour open constructions where a vapour membrane is specified externally. The overall breathability of the construction is maintained with Tyvek SD2 providing a balance between internal and external vapour resistances. Composition: Spunbonded polypropylene and liquid applied polyolefin Strength: Tyvek SD2 is rotproof and has a nail tear resistance of 260N. It is an extremely durable material. Tyvek Butyl Tape A double-sided butyl-based tape for sealing at laps, perimeters, chimneys, abutments and bonding the membrane to a Tyvek Eaves Carrier. Suitably compatible for adhering to brickwork, blockwork, masonry, timber, metalwork and most plastic products. Tyvek Metallised Tape Single-sided reflective tape for sealing laps in Tyvek Reflex wall membrane. Suitable for making good around penetrations, pipework, windows and doors. Carrier is made from metallised Tyvek and adhesive is acrylic-based, which once cured provides a very durable and long-lasting bond. Tyvek Eaves Carrier Preformed black semi-rigid eaves protection sheet installed over the fascia board under-lapping the Tyvek membrane by 150 mm. Recommended for long-term durability against UV degradation from direct sunlight, whilst offering support to the membrane to eliminate ponding at the tilt position.
