2 April 25, Scope Showcase Windows, Enlight Industries, LLC requested engineering analyses of their Series/Model 200 horizontal sliding impact-resistant window and development of approved window installation methods. Specifically, the analyses are to determine the quantity and spacing of anchors for the horizontal sliding window referenced in Construction Consulting Laboratory, International Report (HS-R40 60 x 48). Calculated anchorage requirements are based on Spruce-Pine-Fir framing and utilize the methods of the National Design Specification for Wood Construction, ANSI/AF&PA NDS-2005 (AFPA/AWC, 2005). Also, installations to hollow CMU, concrete and steel stud are evaluated. All windows are assumed to be fastened through frame (replacement installation). Analyses Test Results Unless noted otherwise, testing was conducted to AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A Standard/Specification for Windows, Doors and Unit Skylights and ASTM E Standard Specification for Performance of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, Doors and Impact Protective Systems Impacted by Windborne Debris in Hurricanes at the construction Consulting Laboratory, International test facility in Carrollton, Texas. Specimen size and results are summarized in the following table. Table 1 Summary of Test Results Test Report Report Date Overall Size Achieved Rating CCLI /04/07 60" x 48" HS-R40 60 x 48 Missile D, Wind Zone 4, +/- 50 psf The air/water/structural performance is limited by the water test pressure. Structural test loads corresponding to a design pressure of +/- 50 psf were conducted successfully. Because the cyclic pressure testing was also conducted at +/-50 psf, the anchorage calculations will be conducted at 50 psf.

3 April 25, Anchor Capacity Individual anchor capacities are based on a through-frame installation (single shear) into three substrates: Spruce-Pine-Fir wood framing, concrete and hollow CMU construction and steel stud. Calculations are presented on page 4 through page 7 and summarized in Table 2. Table 2 Calculated Anchor Capacities Substrate Anchor Capacity (lbs) Spruce-Pine-Fir #8 Wood Screw 107 Hollow CMU and Concrete 1/4" Tapcon 185 Steel Stud #12 TEKS 110 Comments 1. Penetrate screw 1/4" beyond drill point Required Anchors The overall window dimensions, established design pressures published in the referenced test report and the calculated anchor capacities are used to determine the minimum anchor spacing and number of anchors required to resist the design wind loads. Calculations are presented on page 8. Based upon minimum anchor requirements, as-tested anchorages and typical installation practices, required anchor locations are presented in the attached drawings.
