22 Estimated Tax Impact Recent legislative action required all Texas school districts to lower their maintenance and operations (M&O) tax rate. PN-G ISD lowered its rate by 13 cents last year and will lower it by an additional 33 cents this year. Because the maximum increase in the tax rate related to this $123M bond election is projected to be 28 cents, it is anticipated that there will be a decrease in the total tax rate. Citizens 65 years and older and disabled citizens who have their homestead rate frozen will not see an increase in their tax rate as a result of this bond proposal.

23 Estimated Tax Impact Tax levy on $100,000 home Year M&O I&S Total Tax Annual Monthly $ $ $ $ current $ $ $ $ $ $75.88 Only a portion of your tax rate relates to bonds. Each year the Board of Trustees sets a tax rate in two parts. The maintenance and operations (M&O) is used to cover operating costs (salaries, supplies, equipment, insurance, utilities, etc.), while the debt service (I&S) rate pays off principal and interest due on bonds.
