4 Application Technical Information No. 071 Cover the scaffolding with tarpaulin to protect the surface from rain during the curing phase (if necessary). By using natural aggregates, slight color differences might be possible. Pay attention to process the same production numbers or premix the required material quantities. Suitable Substrates Substrate Preparation Application Conditions Tool Cleaning Laying and Jointing Reinforcement layers made of: - Capatect-ZF-Spachtel Capatect CarbonSpachtel Substrates made of: - Mortar groups PII, PIII as per DIN etc. - Concrete - Sound mineral existing render and coatings - Gypsum plasterboard or reinforcing base coats of mortar groups P IV + V in the interiors The substrates must be even, clean, dry, dimensionally stable, solid and free from all materials that may prevent good adhesion. On cement-bound substrates (including mineral reinforcing materials), Putzgrund 610 should be used to largely prevent efflorescence. Processing temperature: +5 C to +30 C during application and curing for material, atmosphere and substrate. The product should not be applied on sun heated substrates, during strong wind, fog or rain. Immediately after use with water. Some Meldorfer colour shades contain different shadings in separate cartons. In order to achieve a natural look, the different shades have to be mixed thoroughly before application. To avoid concentrations of single shades, do not install the facings cartonwise.check the geometry of the surface to be covered regarding openings, edges etc. Keep appropriate design elements like rollocks etc. in mind and take these elements as fix starting points for further partitioning of the facade. Divide the surface horizontaly by chalk lines. Flat facing type Vertical line distance* [ mm ] Layers Joint width [ mm ] Format II (DF - slim format) ~ Format III (NF - normal format) ~ ~ 12 Sandstein individual individual Exclusive types OSLO ~ STOCKHOLM AMMAN ~ ~ 12 * Minor differences can be easily compensated during setting the facings. Start the application of the flat facing bricks always from top to bottom, starting with the corner parts! Apply stripes of the Meldorfer Ansatzmörtel 080 within the marked zone and comb the mortar horizontally with notched trowel "Meldorfer Zahnkelle" (notches 4 x 6 mm). For type Sandstein a harmonious surface design can be achieved by periodic or random combination of the flat facing bricks of different formats and the respective cuttings. The three basic colours grey, yellow and red should be combined well balanced. Only apply as much adhesive as can be covered immediately. Press the Meldorfer Flachverblender into the mortar in a shifting movement, avoiding cavities or hollow spaces. Take special care to install full facings and cuttings optically well balanced. Finally spread the adhesive mortar uniformly to the facing flancs inside the joints with a 10 mm flat brush. The glue line between the adhesive mortar and the facings must be tightly closed to avoid penetration of water behind the cladding. Allow protruding adhesive mortar to form a dried skin and remove these remainings using a flat brush. Alternatively joints can be filled by the special cement-grey joint filler Meldorfer Fugenmörtel 081.

5 Advice Technical Information No. 071 Note: Meldorfer-flat facings are hand-shaped, individually manufactured products. Variances and tolerances in colour and dimension to be considered. Take care to avoid local concentration of colour shadings.
