The Broadmoor Events Center Colorado Springs, Colorado Architect: CSNA Architects This project includes the design of new convention center and parking structure in the center of The Broadmoor Hotel campus in Colorado Springs. This multi-faceted project includes three levels of parking, tennis club, restaurant and museum. The exhibition space consists of 240 foot clear span trusses to provide for a column free hall. The design of the structure took into account both the requirements of some of the high technology exhibits it is required to house and the campus architecture that is the signature of The Broadmoor. Personal Experience of Julian Lineham and Chris O Hara

Summit Restaurant Wine Room The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, Colorado Architect: CSNA Architects, Tihany Design was commissioned to prepare a design for glass wine room exhibiting many unique geometries to be the central feature of the Summit Restaurant which is housed within the Broadmoor Events Center. The central cone of the wine room houses a rotating wine rack to mimic nearby Pikes Peak. While investigating various framing options suggested framing the room only of glass. As a result, 6 deep glass fins are used as beams and columns to support the glass cladding. The cladding is designed in a manner to serve as shear walls to resist seismic loads.

Broadmoor West Renovation - On The Boards Colorado Springs, Colorado Architect: CSNA Architects Renovation of existing flat plate concrete structure. The project consist of reskinning the entire structure, a revision of all interior hotel units and the addition of two penthouses. The intent is to upgrade all the rooms and revise the façade to reflect the aesthetic of the other buildings on campus. The room upgrades require the addition of multiple new fixtures in all the bathrooms requiring multiple penetrations in the existing structure, most notably the second floor transfer beams.

Broadmoor Services Facilities The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, Colorado Architect: OZ Architecture Renovation of existing laundry and power plant facility to provide a better façade to be adjacent to the new Events Center and Brownstones that have been added to the Broadmoor Resort campus.

Snowmass Transit and Visitor Centers Snowmass, Colorado Architect: Lipkin Warner Architects and Planning This project consists of two primary structures at the entry to the new Snowmass base village. The design called for clean and elegantly detailed traditional timber frame structures. The projects serve to provide shelter for visitors awaiting buses to the base villages and to provide direction to visitors parking in the lower lots.

Marriott Fairfield Inn - Under Construction Laramie, Wyoming Architects: JCL Architecture The hotel is a 3-story wood framed structure with 85 rooms and an indoor pool, typical for this Marriott hotel format. Speed of construction was a critical design factor so panelized wood frame wall construction was utilized. Room to room sound ratings required staggered wall stud construction. Floors were designed with engineered wood I-joists with a gypcrete topping. The roof was constructed from prefabricated wood trusses.

American Casino - Under Construction Cripple Creek, Colorado Architect: Semple Brown Design The American Casino consists of five levels of parking and two levels of gaming. This $26 million structure includes 66,000 sf of gaming. The structure consists of 5 levels of precast concrete with steel with composite deck for a gaming mezzanine level. The roof consists of may variations of tension trusses with heavy timber and stainless steel rods.

La Zebra Pod Residences - On The Boards Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico Architect: Arch 11 Phase 1 of a new resort in Tulum, Mexico features the Pod Residences which are stilted structures over the mangroves below. The structures are designed to enjoy both the mangroves and the ocean 300 yards away. Nine residential pods and three entry pods are included in the first phase. Future phases will include a more traditional lodging structure and support facilities.

Richman Casino - On The Boards Blackhawk, Colorado Architect: Architecture Denver The Richman Casino consists of a contemporary elliptical addition to the existing Victorian structure currently housing the casino. The addition more than doubles the gaming space. The roof consists of three post tension trusses with glu-lam top chords.

Annabelle Inn Aspen, Colorado Architect: Reno Smith Architects The Annabelle Inn (formerly Christmas Inn) is a historic landmark structure along Main Street in downtown Aspen. The projects goal was to nearly double its capacity while maintaining the structures historic look. Notable challenges include adding a story to the bulk of the structure; the addition of a basement adjacent to existing foundations in the courtyard; and strict building height limitations. The roof of the third level additions are all stick framed for a vaulted ceiling to a roof profile matching the existing structure. The design was heavily influenced by the existing structure and sightlines from the adjacent streets. Personal Experience of Joe Crilly, Chris O Hara and Julian Lineham at Loris.

Niwot Bed and Breakfast Inn Niwot, Colorado Architect: Scott Coburn This luxury bed and breakfast inn is located on Second Street in downtown Niwot and provides comfortable accommodations with high-tech office facilities for the business traveler. It has a mountain architectural character with extensive wood finishes. The main circulation area has a beautiful wood crafted grand staircase which provides access to a four-sided walkway and the room suites. Heavytimber framed, hammer-beam trusses support the roof over this central atrium area. Julian engineered the wood framed building including the oak peg dowelled connections for the ornate roof trusses. The truss connections were designed using oak dowels not hidden steel plates. The basement houses the administrative and service functions for the inn. Personal experience of Julian Lineham at Loris.
