Assignment: 5 Podium Plans Project DescripFon: Develop your individual podium plans. Your podium plans include the cellar level, first floor (ground level), second floor and depending on your programming decisions the third floor. Be sure to revise the plans to work with your column system. RaTonalize the plan, reduce the number of angled passageways in the building and increase the occurrence of 90 angles at wall intersectons. Consider adding a grand stair and or podium elevators between the ground floor and floors above. Check your plans to make sure they meet egress requirements. Designate/create wall types that include the fire ratng and walls assembly used. Make sure the plans are ADA accessible. Be sure to include doors and column enclosures. You'll need to add wall tags and critcal dimensions. ARCH 2430

ARCH 2430 Assignment: 5 Podium Plans Check your plans to make sure they meet egress requirements. Designate/create wall types that include the fire ratng and walls assembly used. Make sure the plans are ADA accessible. Be sure to include doors and column enclosures. You'll need to add wall tags and critcal dimensions. The designated spaces in the podium can be simplified to indicate what type of retail space they are and how the circulaton works for these spaces. Specific programs as given in the designs (i.e. bookstore gallery, liquor store) should be made generic (office space, commercial space, exhibiton etc.). Your plans should include room tags.

levels The elevaton views of the buildings provide easy access adding levels Copy the level to create the new level top of grade beam. Make it 4 feet below the cellar level

levels Review: when you need to eliminate some elements or categories from a parfcular view you can always right- click the elements to open that opfon. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012 CauTon: this is not the same as temporarily hiding the element/category

levels You can access the seqngs in the view propertes window. 1) Once you create the top of grade beam view you need to adjust its propertes so it sure was the foundaton systems. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

1) Open view levels range window to control how much of the model your view will look at Note; the standard cut dimension of 4 feet. 2) Adjust the cut plan to 6 so it is below the slab above. 3) Increased the view depth (3-0 ) so the view will see the lines of the foundaton. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

Now that you have your review organized you can start drawing your perimeter foundaton walls. [Home Tab walls] 1) Under new wall this is no 14 thick foundaton walls so you will have to create it. [edit type] 2) Start with a similar wall type and open the type propertes window to duplicate it. [FoundaTon - 12 Concrete] 3) [FoundaTon - 14 Concrete] OK 4) Edit the structure to develop the new wall type. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

1) Wall materials and layers can be developed in this window. 2) Edit the structure thickness here to create the FoundaTon - 14 Concrete wall.. 3) OK Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

1) Your wall type is now available for use. 2) Connect the bo3om of your wall to the top of grade beams level. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Connect your wall top to - 1g below the 1 floor level. Note the level that these foundatons are being draged in.

Note To create wall with partcular constraints it is ogen easier to drag these elements in views that they are not shown in. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) The objects were successfully created however they are not visibly untl you look them in the appropriate view.

2) Leave the top constraints una3ached, you a3ach later. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Add the needed grade beams under the main column lines [2,3 & B] Drag the next elements in the top of grade beam level

2) Use the filter tool to help you get the right selecton 1) Select the walls that need top connectons Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012 SelecTons, Revit Boundary boxes startng from the leg going to the right will select only items completely closed. Boundary boxes startng from the right going to the leg will select all items crossed by the boundary box.

1) Use the property tools to connect the wall. 2) Connect the wall to the cellar slab. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) To avoid wall stcking through the slab use the offset opton.

Columns 1) Use the column command to add the concrete piers and columns to the cellar floor 2) Structural columns option Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

Columns 1) Use the attribute type button to access the load command. 2) Added the square concrete columns type if needed Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

2) Multiply by using the place that creates tool. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Select the grid intersections that need columns. 1) Use of the concrete square column 24x24.

Use the finish button to complete the command. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012 Your column/peer layout should look like this

1) Attach engaged columns (piers) to match the perimeter foundation walls. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012 You will now need to azach your columns/piers to the appropriate top level.

Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Attach columns to -6 inches under the slab cellar.

2) Duplicate the pile cap 3) 36 x 36 x 30 1) Under the structural ribbon, foundation section select a concrete Cap-Rectangle

Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Adjust the dimensions to match the required size in the structural sketches.

1) Use the multiply that columns command to attach the pile caps Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Check your work and plan an isometric views.

Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012 Your foundafon should look like this

1) Use the foundation wall tool to add the grade beam to the interior walls. 2) You will need to create a new footing type to match the sketches Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Follow the same steps you used to create the new pile cap type.

2) Use this button to select the target walls. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) New bearing footing type

What is the problem with this conditon? This foundaton detail goes over the property line. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

1) Create a stacked wall to develop a grade beam projecting on one side of the foundation wall. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Locate your stacked wall object in the project of your under the tab families

Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) right-click the placeholder stacked wall type to Duplicate and name a new stacked wall element.

2) Edit the wall structure Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) Edit type to develop the stacked wall controls

Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara ) This table shows you the stacked wall is composed of standard wall types.

1) Use self 14 inch concrete wall for the top part of the wall. Make sure the height is on variable 4) Set the offset to line up one face stacked wall. 3) Lock the height to match sketches 2) Use a 30 inch concrete wall for the bottom half (you might have to create this wall type) Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

2) Adjust the walls constraints as necessary. 1) Change the property line walls to the new stacked wall type. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

Framing Plan 1) You may need to use the join command to resolve intersections for the stacked wall and the rest of the foundation system Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

2) The cellar slab should be 6 concrete 1) If cellar slab is concrete on metal deck move it to another floor. Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012

Prepared by; Alexander Aptekar ED. Barbara Mishara 2012 Dra[ the layout of the cellar plan based on the partners sketch. Use a generic 6 wall type.
