1 Certificate No: EW550 Celsius Solid Roof System Description of Product This is an assessment of the Celsius Solid Roof system manufactured by Synseal. It is a lightweight solid roof intended as an alternative or a replacement to glazed roof systems on conservatories. This Registered Solution applies to the roof only. It is designed to fast-track, not remove, the requirement to obtain Building Regulation Approval through LABC. This can only be demonstrated through a Completion Certificate issued following satisfactory inspections made as part of a valid Building Regulation application by Local Authority Building Control teams. Photo/isometric drawing provided by manufacturer Key Factors Assessed Mechanical Resistance & Stability Safety in case of Fire Safety in Use Energy Economy and heat retention Durability serviceability and identification Validity This certificate was first issued on 29 th June 2015 and is valid until 29 th June 2016 Issue Dated 29 th June 2015

2 This is an assessment of a specified and accredited lightweight, solid roof system for use on conservatories and sunrooms as an alternative to or a replacement of a traditional glazed roof system. The roof system is designed to give a satisfactory level of thermal insulation, weather resistance and structural stability. The roof system consists of a Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) system with a breathable membrane and recycled polymer roof tiles. The system can be used on new structures or existing structures subject to the suitability of the existing structure. The existing structure will need to be assessed to ensure its adequacy for taking any additional loads and may include exploratory investigation of the existing construction. Approved Document L1B states that the amount of glazing allowed to an extension is 25% of the floor area. In order for this limitation not to apply, there should be: 1. Effective thermal separation must be maintained between the dwelling and former conservatory or porch. 2. Any existing independent temperature and on/off controls to any heating system installed within the former conservatory or porch may be maintained. Refer to LABC guidance on solid roofs to conservatories and porches attached to dwellings The roof specification designed to achieve 0.18 W/m2K comprises; Envirotile interlocking ventilated roof system installed in accordance with BS: fixed over Nilvent breather membrane on 142mm Kingspan TEK panel. Panel comprises two external 15mm OSB boards with 112mm PUR insulation with 110mm joint cassettes. Internal finish comprises 12.5mm plasterboard and skim. Installed in accordance with BBA certificate 02/S029. The manufacturer shall exercise permanent internal control of production. All the elements, requirements and provisions adopted by the manufacturer shall be documented in a systematic manner in the form of written policies and procedures, including records of results. This production system will ensure the product is in conformity with the relevant approval. The manufacturer may only use components stated in the technical documentation. Installation should only be undertaken by competent installers to the specifications as shown and described in the manufacturers installation guide. Light fittings should not penetrate the vapour barrier. Existing structures should be checked for structural adequacy prior to the installation of the roof. A suitable flashing design should be agreed on site where pipes pass through the roof construction. Any flues passing through the roof should be installed in accordance with BS EN : Approved Document J Section 1 Provisions which apply generally to combustion installations. Effective thermal separation between the conservatory and existing dwelling should be maintained. The Registered Detail relates to the reroofing of existing conservatory or porch roofs that satisfy the requirements of Schedule 2, Class 7 to the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended); i.e. It must be at ground level; it must not exceed 30 m2 in floor area; the thermal separation between the building and the conservatory or porch must be maintained; and the building s heating system must not be extended into the conservatory or porch. If the thermal separation is removed then a separate Building Regulation Application needs to be submitted and the amount of glazing to the former conservatory or porch should be reduced to less than 25% of the floor area and the glazing should achieve a U-value 1.6W/m2.K (alternatively heat loss calculations may be used).
