10 MARLEY ALUTEC AND THE 300M PROGRAMME Following a stringent tendering process from Sheffield City Council, Marley Alutec s rainwater and eaves systems were specified because they met with the council s commitment to provide housing and services that go beyond the industry standard. In particular, the impressive durability, lifecycle costs and sustainability credentials of Alutec s products meant that they were a perfect fit. This is the largest re-roofing project ever undertaken not only in the UK but in Europe. Marley Alutec is providing solutions for both phases of the project: flat roofs and pitched roofs. We are delivering a massive 300m investment programme for the next five years to completely transform approximately 26,000 homes owned by our Council in numerous sites in Sheffield. We need to attract the best contractors to deliver the work, who will provide high quality solutions to fit our needs for the long term. 11 THE FUTURE OF HOUSEBUILDING NOW A landmark new housing project developed by Wienerberger, the leading provider of wall, roof and landscaping innovations. Planned in conjunction with global engineering and design consultancy ARUP, the e4 brick house concept is based around four fundamental principles of energy, economy, environment and emotion. Designed to achieve standards such as Part L 2016 and complying with Lifetime Homes and the London Housing Design Guide, the Wienerberger e4 brick house provides a real solution to the current housing crisis. The Wienerberger e4 brick house represents a significant step forward in the progression of UK housing and offers an accessible model that can be implemented now. Choosing the right materials was therefore crucial in achieving the build. Marley Alutec s products were a perfect fit in this respect as their longevity, sustainability and low maintenance requirements meant we could deliver not only the type of building we wanted to but the intended lifestyle for the future residents as well. 12 MARLEY ALUTEC MAKES IT POSSIBLE WITH BIM The small development of four timber-framed, low energy, sustainable dwellings is the flagship project for Space Architecture s latest invention: the Spacehus. It is a shining example of what can be achieved through BIM-only construction and the support of our highly knowledgeable technical experts. Choosing Marley Alutec to work on Valleydale Mews was easy, the comprehensive BIM portfolio allowed for a quick and detailed specification process. In particular Marley Alutec s technical department were great to work with: having supplied 2D drawings extracted from our BIM model, Alutec did the rest and we had no need to go back with any amendments. Sustainability and aesthetics were also key requirements for this project.
