1 COURSE SYLLABUS Course Title: 2014 Florida Building Code Advanced 5th Edition: Plumbing Summary of Significant Changes Internet Provider: RedVector.com, LLC 4890 W. Kennedy Blvd., Ste. 740 Tampa, FL Course Description: The next edition of the Florida Building Code, the 5th Edition, is scheduled to go into effect June 30, There are numerous changes in the base code, as well as Florida specific amendments to the base code, which regulates the design, construction, testing, and operation of plumbing systems. This course summarizes some of the significant changes in the next edition of the Florida Building Code-Plumbing. This course is intended for those familiar with the code and desiring to update their knowledge base on the changes in these important regulations. Any designer, contractor, supplier, inspector, plans examiner, or other person involved with plumbing systems, whether they be commercial or domestic, will benefit from keeping current with the regulations governing their profession. Number of Classroom Hours: This course will offer 1 Classroom Hour. Overall Goal of the Course: The overall goal of this course is to ensure that licensed construction industry professionals such as architects, building officials, building plans examiners, code inspectors, contractors, engineers, and interior designers are familiar with current changes to the Florida Building Code, Plumbing, to improve the likelihood that buildings are constructed in accordance with the building code. Specific Behavioral (Performance) Objectives: At the conclusion of the course, the attendees should be able to demonstrate: Distinguish between plumbing fixtures and appliances that efficiently preserve the health, safety, and welfare of citizens. Determine whether Canadian Standards are acceptable. Establish where temperature and pressure protection is required on hot water systems to protect against scalding. Establish whether bundled piping complies with the code. Recall whether or not public garages are required to provide toilet facilities to the public. Determine where service sinks are required for businesses and merchants. Ascertain if liquid type lining materials are permitted for showers.

Method of Evaluation The evaluation will be conducted through quizzes during the course and a quiz after the course. Qualifications of Instructors The following instructors are qualified to conduct the course. All future instructors will be state certified General or Building Contractor; state certified Building Official, Plans Examiner, or Inspector; Architect; Engineer; or a person holding a four year college degree that is familiar with building codes.
