5 Application conditions Product Temperature range, in C Air Substrate* Material Polimar FCS Waterproofing -5 to to +50* +3 to +30 Polimar FCS Detailing -5 to to +50* +3 to +30 * The substrate temperature must be at least 3 C above the dew point during application and curing. The substrate temperature must not be less than +3 C if a topping is applied to the surface. Reaction problems can occur at lower temperatures. Moisture The relative humidity must be 90 %. The surface to be coated must be dry and ice-free. The surface must be protected from moisture until the coating has hardened. Reaction times Polimar FCS Waterproofing / Polimar FCS Detailing (at 20 C, 2 % catalyst) Pot life: approx. 15 minutes Rain-proof after: approx. 30 minutes Can be walked on / overcoated after: approx. 1 hour Curing time approx. 3 hours Higher temperatures or greater proportions of catalyst will reduce reaction times, while lower temperatures and smaller proportions of catalyst will increase reaction times. Consumption rates Waterproofing layer reinfotced with Polimar FCS Fleece: approx kg/m² Technical data Density: 1.22 g/cm³ Water vapour diffusion resistance factor: 8150 [-] Product Application Application equipment / tools For mixing the product: Twin-paddle stirrer For applying the product: Sheepskin roller Brush (only for areas not accessible with the sheepskin roller) Substrate to be coated Apply the waterproofing resin to the cured Polimar FCS Primer or suitably prepared substrate. Mixing First stir the tub contents thoroughly. Then add Polimar FCS Catalyst (2 bags) while stirring the resin at the slow-speed setting and mix for 2 minutes. Make sure that the product on the base and sides of the container is mixed in. At product temperatures < 10 C the product should be stirred for 5 minutes, as the catalyst will take longer to dissolve. Application Use Polimar FCS Waterproofing for waterproofing horizontal areas, Polimar FCS Detailing is used for vertical surfaces (e.g. upstands on details). Apply a generous and even layer of the mixed material to the entire area (at least 1.5 kg/m 2 ), then immediately embed Polimar FCS Fleece, using the roller to smooth out and remove any trapped air bubbles and creases. Immediately apply further material (wet on wet) on top of the fleece up to the required coverage rate. Fleece overlaps must be a minimum of 50mm.

6 Preparation for subsequent layers such as bonded tiles or loose-laid surfacing a) Fully bonded surfacing (e.g. tiles) Once the waterproofing has cured, apply an additional covering layer of Polimar FCS Waterproofing (approx. 1.5 kg/m2) and top with a generous amount of sand while still wet (quartz sand mm). Vacuum off the excess/loose sand after the surface has hardened. The topping gives the surface the necessary roughness that allows the subsequent surfacing supplied by others to be bonded onto the base. Never apply the topping to the waterproofing layer. Only use dry quartz sand. b) Loose-laid surfacing (e.g. stone slabs) Once the waterproofing has cured, apply an additional covering layer of Polimar FCS Waterproofing (approx. 1.5 kg/m2). This protects the waterproofing layer against the mechanical loads of the surfacing supplied by others. Cleaning If work is interrupted or when it is completed, clean the tools thoroughly with Polimar Acetone Cleaner within the pot life of the material (approx. 10 minutes). This can be done with a brush. Do not use the tools again until the Acetone Cleaner has evaporated fully. Simply immersing the tools in the Acetone Cleaner will not prevent the material from hardening. Safety Information Please refer to the safety data sheets for the products used. 19 Polimar FCS Catalyst Product Data Sheet April 2014 Description Polimar FCS Catalyst is an essential component of PMMA-based Polimar products. It both starts and adjusts the curing reaction. The speed of the reaction is adjusted to the ambient conditions by modifying the amount of catalyst added. Material Oxygen-rich, powdered peroxide-based compound Features and Benefits Easily soluble Highly effective Areas of Application Polimar FCS Catalyst is mixed with Polimar PMMA products to enable the curing process to take place. It both initiates and controls the speed of the curing reaction. The reaction speed can be influenced by adjusting the amount added, and this method is used to adapt the reaction to the ambient conditions (temperatures). Packaging 0.10 kg in plastic bag Colours Polimar FCS Catalyst is a white powder. Storage The catalyst must only be stored in closed containers and in dry areas, away from heat and ignition sources, and at temperatures below +30 C. In the original packaging it has a minimum shelf life of 6 months. The influence of heat can cause the powder clump together and can reduce its effectiveness. The powder can selfignite if it is heated to a higher temperature, e.g. by direct sunlight. Consequently direct sunlight should also be avoided on site. Required amounts of catalyst The amount of catalyst required is dependent on the product used, the quantity of product and the temperature conditions. For further details about the recommended quantities of catalyst please refer to the product information sheets for Polimar PMMA-based products. Technical data Density: Apparent density: 1.23 g/cm³ 0.65 g/cm³ Product Application Application equipment / tools For mixing the product: Twin-paddle stirrer Mixing Add the catalyst to the PMMA-based product while stirring, as the stirring action causes the catalyst to dissolve and ensures an even distribution. For exact details please refer to the product information sheets of the PMMA-based products.
