5 ALUMINUM DOUBLE SWING GATES & CONTROLS SECTION PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 WORK INCLUDED A. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials and apparatuses necessary for installation of the ornamental aluminum fence system and controls defined herein RELATED WORK A. The manufacturer shall supply a total ornamental gate system of the Ameristar Estate Gate Classic style. The gate system shall include all components (i.e., gate modules, hardware, accessories and posts) required. B. All wiring, conduits, power, automatic openers and control systems shall be provided to allow the system to function properly QUALITY ASSURANCE A. The contractor shall provide laborers and supervisors who are thoroughly familiar with the type of construction involved and materials and techniques specified. The manufacturer's literature shall be submitted prior to installation

Shop drawings: Submit shop drawings under the provisions of Section Submit drawings showing connections to adjacent construction, range of travel, and all electrical and mechanical connections to the operator. All underground runs of electrical lines and inductive vehicle obstruction loop locations shall be indicated on drawings. Drawings shall also show the size and location of the concrete mounting pad. C. Concrete footings for gate posts shall be submitted as engineered documents stamped by a Louisiana Licensed Structural or Civil Engineer. D. Installation instructions: Submit two copies of manufacturer's installation instructions for this specific project. E. Submit manufacturer s warranty registration form to Project Manager. F. Test reports: 1. Submit affidavits from the manufacturer demonstrating that the gate operator mechanism has been tested to 200,000 cycles without breakdown PRODUCT HANDLING AND STORAGE A. Upon receipt at the job site, all materials shall be checked to ensure that no damages occurred during shipping or handling. Materials shall be stored in such a manner to ensure proper ventilation and drainage, and to protect against damage, weather, vandalism and theft. PART 2 MATERIALS 2.01 MANUFACTURER A. The modular gate system shall conform to Ameristar Estate Classic style, 5-Rail design, Double Swing entry configuration, manufactured by Ameristar Fence Products Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma or Approved Equivalent. B. The project gate schedule shall include the following additional information for each double swing gate included in the project scope: openings as indicated on the drawings, 7-0 height. C. Gate controllers shall be hydraulic operating arms, Model 400 controllers with one Model 455D control panel per gate leave, provided by FAAC, or approved equivalent. D. Telephone Access Control Panel shall be Doorking or approved equivalent. E. Access Control Pedestal shall be 42 high Pad-mount gooseneck pedestal, Model Kodiak Black K , provided by American Access Systems or approved equivalent MATERIAL A. ALU MINUM SWING GATES

7 a. The materials used for gate (pickets, rails & gate ends) shall be manufactured from ASTM B221 aluminum (designation 6063-T-6) with yield strength of 25,000 PSI, a tensile strength of 30,000 PSI and a standard mill finish. b. Steel material for gateposts, shall be galvanized prior to forming in accordance with the requirements of ASTM A653/A653M, with minimum yield strength of 45,000 psi (310 MPa). The steel shall be hot-dip galvanized to meet the requirements of ASTM A653/A653M with a minimum zinc coating weight of 0.90 oz/ft2 (276 g/m2), Coating Designation G-90. c. Material for pickets shall be 1 square x.125 wall aluminum; rails shall be 1 x 2 x.250 wall aluminum, gate ends and intermediates shall be 2 square x.250 wall aluminum. Gate posts shall be 6 square, or per manufacturer recommendation. B. GATE OPERATORS a. FAAC gate operator model 400 with 455D controller and FAAC 3250 Battery Backup, or other approved UPS equipped operator. Requests for substitution will include the amount of savings to be passed on to the owner. b. Operation shall be by means of a 120V AC electric motor driving a hydraulic pump and piston assembly. Operator shall be capable of handling gates up to 16ft (4.9m) in length and weighing up to 1,300lb (590kg). Gate operator duty cycle shall be up to 80 cycles per hour. Gate Operator shall operate in the event of a power failure in an uninterruptible power supply mode to the extent the two 8Ah batteries can maintain adequate power. c. Standard mechanical components shall include as a minimum: i. Internal Positive Stops FAAC part number d. Minimum standard electrical components: Industrial grade. i. One 455 D operates single leaf or bi-parting gates ii. Provides opening and closing "slow down, soft stop" convenience iii. Transformer: 250VA iv. Input Power: 120V. v. Accessory power: 30VDC e. Required external sensors: Specify photo eyes or gate edges or a combination thereof to be installed such that the gate is capable of reversing in either direction upon sensing an obstruction. f. Required control devices: vehicle detectors and shadow loop relay g. Installation shall be per UL 325 C. Telephone Access Control Entry System

Half duplex or simplex type communication will not be allowed. The system shall be capable of storing up to 3000 user names and phone numbers, and up to 8000 card, digital, and/or RF transmitter access codes. The system transaction buffer shall store up to 8000 events. The system shall be capable of being programmed via a personal computer and DoorKing Remote Account Manager for Windows software (included with the system). Several different methods of connection to the system shall be made available: 1.Modem 2.RS Internet via DoorKing internet modem server 4.Direct internet connection 5.LAN (Local Area Network) iii. The entrance shall have an access panel pedestal, model # Kodiak Black K by American Access Systems or Approved Equal. All exposed pedestal surfaces to be powder coated. The construction of the pedestals will be of heavy steel construction and shall have a mounting plate for the access panel at 42 above the base plate FABRICATION A. Pickets, rails and gate ends shall be precut to specified lengths, and then joined via welding at each picket to rail connection and rail to gate end connection. B. The manufactured framework shall be subjected to the Ameristar thermal stratification coating process (high-temperature, in-line, multi-stage, and multi-layer) including, as a minimum, a six-stage pretreatment/wash and an electrostatic spray application of a polyester finish. The topcoat shall be a no-mar TGIC polyester powder coat finish with a minimum thickness of 2 mils. The color shall be Bronze, (matching color to existing ornamental fence). The stratification-coated framework shall be capable of meeting the performance requirements for each quality characteristic shown in Table

9 PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 PREPARATION A. All new installation shall be laid out by the contractor in accordance with the construction plans GATE INSTALLATION A. Gateposts shall be set in concrete footers having a minimum depth as indicated by engineer. (Note: In some cases, local restrictions of freezing weather conditions may require a greater depth). The Earthwork and Concrete sections of this specification shall govern material requirements for the concrete footer. Gateposts setting by other methods such as plated posts or grouted core-drilled footers are permissible only if shown by engineering analysis to be sufficient in strength for the intended application GATE INSTALLATION MAINTENANCE A. When cutting/drilling gate adhere to the following steps to seal the exposed surfaces; 1) Remove all metal shavings from cut area. 2) Apply primer to thoroughly cover cut edge and/or drilled hole; let dry. 3) Apply 2 coats of custom finish paint matching fence color. Failure to seal exposed surfaces per steps 1-3 above will negate warranty. Manufacturer spray cans or paint pens shall be used to prime and finish exposed surfaces; it is recommended that paint pens be used to prevent overspray GATE INSTALLATION A. Gate posts shall be spaced according to the manufacturers gate drawings, dependent on standard out-to-out gate leaf dimensions and gate hardware selected. Type and quantity of gate hinges shall be based on the application; weight, height, and number of gate cycles. The manufacturers gate drawings shall identify the necessary gate hardware required for the application. Gate hardware shall be provided by the manufacture of the gate and shall be installed per manufacturer s recommendations CLEANING A. The contractor shall clean the jobsite of excess materials; post-hole excavations shall be scattered uniformly away from posts. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and appurtenances necessary for installation of an industrial aluminum picket type gate and cantilever gate system. B. Pre-wired gate operator for slide gates, including all selected attachments, accessory equipment, and mounting brackets. C. Telephone Access Control Entry System D. Access Control Pedestal shall be 42 high Pad-mount gooseneck pedestal, Model Kodiak Black K , provided by American Access Systems or approved equivalent MATERIAL A. CANTILEVERED GATE SYSTEM

The materials used for cantilever gate framing shall be manufactured from ASTM B221 aluminum (designation 6063-T-6) with a yield strength of 25,000 PSI, a tensile strength of 30,000 PSI and a standard mill finish. The toprail shall be manufactured from ASTM B221 aluminum (designation 6063-T-6) with a yield strength of 25,000 PSI, a tensile strength of 30,000 PSI and a standard mill finish. b. Ornamental cantilever frames shall be filled with 1" square aluminum pickets at 5" o.c. spacing. Pickets shall be riveted to prepunched top and bottom extrusions. c. Counter supports shall be braced diagonally with truss cables. d. Two Upper Suspension Rollers and two Lower Guide Rollers shall be included with each gate. B. GATE OPERATOR a. HySecurity gate operator model SlideSmart DC 15 with Smart DC Controller, or other comparable operator, as approved by the architect or specifier. Requests for substitution will include the amount of savings to be passed on to the owner b. Operation shall be by means of a brushed DC electric motor driving a single reduction gear reducer with an output sprocket driving #40 plated roller bar. When the gate is stopped, the motor applies a brake to the drive assembly which inhibits any forced, manual operation of the gate. Gate position is constantly monitored allowing for automatic reposition if motion is detected without the operator receiving a run command. The opening and closing speeds are user adjustable 0.75, 1.0, or 1.25 fps. The gear reducer shall be filled with synthetic lubricant capable of allowing operation down to -25 C (- 13 F) without a heater. Operator shall be capable of handling gates up to 40ft (12m) in length and weighing up to 1,500lb (685kg). Gate Operator shall operate in the event of a power failure in an uninterruptible power supply mode to the extent the two 8Ah batteries can maintain adequate power. c. Standard mechanical components shall include as a minimum: i. Two piece linear low density polyethylene cover with top locking latch. Cover protects bystanders from pinch hazards of roller chain traveling through idlers and drive sprocket. ii. Frame to be constructed of 10ga or greater steel plate, welded. iii. Finish: Frame to be zinc plated. Other components zinc plated or non-corroding. iv. Operator shall contain a position sensing device and a means of setting the limit position and maintaining this position in nonvolatile memory. Operator must also contain a magnetic absolute position sensor to verify the gate position. v. Zinc or nickel plated #40 roller bar with bar mount brackets and connecting hardware. d. Minimum standard electrical components: Industrial grade. e. Motor: 1/2 hp brushed DC motor with ball bearings. f. Electronic circuit boards to be conformal coated to resist moisture induced failures. g. All components shall have overload protection. h. Controls: Smart DC Controller Board containing: i. inherent entrapment sensor; j. built in audible warn before operate system;

The Contractor has to visit the site before entering a bid in order to determine field conditions, which may affect the materials to be removed, the area available for new construction, and the routes necessary to run electrical/controls conduit. B. All new gate installations shall be laid out by the contractor in accordance with the construction plans. C. Locate concrete mounting pad for controller in accordance with approved shop drawings. D. Make sure that gate is operating smoothly under manual conditions before installation of gate operators. Do not proceed until gate panel is aligned and operates without binding INSTALLATION A. Set gate posts in accordance with the engineer drawings submitted by the contractor and approved by the Project Architect

16 B. Attach Upper & Lower Suspension Rollers to gate posts per end view (cross-section) in construction drawings; slide TransPort II toprail & bottomrail onto rollers. C. Install gate operator in accordance with the manufacturers printed instructions, current at the time of installation. Coordinate locations of operators with contract drawings; other trades and shop drawings. D. Installer shall insure that the service to the operator is at least 15 AMPS. Electrical wiring to conform to NEC and manufacturer s installation instructions. Operator wattage is 500W FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Test gate operators through ten full cycles and adjust for operation without binding, scraping or uneven motion. B. All anchor bolts shall be fully concealed in the finished installation. C. Owner, or owner s representative, shall complete punch list with installing contractor prior to final acceptance of the installation and submit completed warranty documentation to manufacturer CLEANING A.
