1 Newfield Construction, Inc. BULLETIN NO. 2 Date: August 10, 2018 Dillon Stadium Phase 2, Hartford, CT Clarifications 1. The bid date, place and time are unchanged by this bulletin. 2. Bidders are reminded that additional site inspections to view the existing conditions are scheduled as follows: Monday, August 13 th from 12:00PM-1:00PM Please sign in with the Newfield representative on site. Contact Dave Cormier (860) upon arrival to the site. 3. Section Signage. See attached revised section and Appendix A. 4. Section Bid Packages, Part A, Bid Package 2.1 Site Construction, Part B, Bid Package 2.2 Concrete, Bid Package Notes. Add Note A2.01: Include all applicable scope of work for the West Bleacher Foundations as shown on Drawing SKS-001. The Concrete Contractor shall be responsible for all concrete work at the West Bleacher Foundations. Reinforcing steel including bricks, setup bars and dowel bar subs will be furnished and delivered by others. The Concrete Contractor shall verify quantities and details, coordinate deliveries, off load and install all reinforcing steel required for this scope of work. Furnish and install any incidental rebar required. Anchor bolts will be furnished by others and installed by the Concrete Contractor. Add Note A2.02: The concrete work for all field light foundations (S1-S4) shall be the responsibility of the Concrete Contractor. All other concrete light pole bases are the responsibility of the Site Construction Contractor 5. Section Bid Packages, Part A, Bid Package 2.1 Site Construction, Part H, Bid Package 2.8 Electrical, Bid Package Notes. Add Note A2.03: The Electrical Contractor shall cut, cap, make safe and remove all wiring for all demolished site items. Trace existing site wiring to ensure source. Demolition and removal of electrical site items including but not limited to the existing field lighting poles is the responsibility of the Site Construction Contractor except where existing light poles are scheduled for reuse. Add Note 2.04: Include complete removal of the existing field light concrete foundations (3) on the West side of the site along Huyshope Ave. Reference Drawing C-100. Assume the foundations are 14 X 14 X 2 reinforced concrete footings (approximately at elevation -5 ) with 7 X 7 X 5 reinforced concrete piers. 7. Section Bid Packages, Part H, Bid Package 2.8 Electrical, Bid Package Notes. Add Note 2.05: In Buildings C and E include Electrical demolition as follows: All electrical items to be demolished shall be cut, dropped, capped/made safe by the Electrical Contractor. Carry out and disposal is by General Trades. 8. Section Bid Packages, Part B, Bid Package 2.2 Concrete, Bid Package Notes. Note Add: Bricks, chairs and setup bars will be furnished and delivered by others. At all masonry walls bearing on a concrete slab the slab dowels will be furnished and installed (drilled) by the Masonry Contractor. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY: A. This Section includes the following types of signs: 1. Panel signs. 1.3 SUBMITTALS: A. General: Submit the following according to the Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections. B. Product data for each type of sign specified, including details of construction relative to materials, dimensions of individual components, profiles, and finishes. C. Shop drawings showing fabrication and erection of signs. Include plans, elevations, and large-scale sections of typical members and other components. Show anchors, grounds, layout, reinforcement, accessories, and installation details. 1. Provide message list for each sign required, including large-scale details of wording and lettering layout. 2. For signs supported by or anchored to permanent construction, provide setting drawings, templates, and directions for installation of anchor bolts and other anchors to be installed as a unit of Work in other Sections. 3. Templates: Furnish full-size spacing templates for individually mounted dimensional letters and numbers. 4. Furnish full-size rubbings for metal plaques. D. Samples: Provide the following samples of each sign component for initial selection of color, pattern and surface texture as required and for verification of compliance with requirements indicated. 1. Samples for initial selection of color, pattern, and texture: a. Cast Acrylic Sheet: Manufacturer's color charts consisting of actual sections of material including the full range of colors available for each material required Signage H

Cast Acrylic Sheet: Provide a sample panel not less than 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches for each material, color, texture, and pattern required. On each panel include a representative sample of the graphic image process required, showing graphic style, and colors and finishes of letters, numbers, and other graphic devices. 3. Panel Sign: For final verification of color, pattern, texture, lettering, graphic images, and other graphic devices, submit full-size sample of a Type 1 panel sign shown in the Appendix to this Section. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE: A. Sign Fabricator Qualifications: Firm experienced in producing signs similar to those indicated for this Project, with a record of successful in-service performance, and sufficient production capacity to produce sign units required without causing delay in the Work. B. Single-Source Responsibility: For each separate sign type required, obtain signs from one source of a single manufacturer. C. Handicapped Accessibility Requirements: Buildings, structures, areas and facilities made accessible to handicapped persons, and the accessible route(s) thereto, shall be clearly identified with the international symbol of accessibility for the physically handicapped in accordance with ANSI A117.1, Section Letters and numbers on signs shall have a width-to-height ratio between 3:5 and 1:1, and stroke width-to-height ratio between 1:5 and 1: Colors of letters and numbers shall contrast with colors of background materials. 3. Signage which provides emergency information or general circulation directions, or identifies rooms and spaces shall be raised letters and numbers, and shall comply with ANSI A117.1 Sections , and Signs identifying accessibility shall be placed on the wall adjacent to the latch side of the door, at 60 inches above the floor, measured to the baseline of the highest character. 5. Symbols for accessibility shall be sized to be read at a distance of 40-feet. D. Design Concept: The Drawings indicate sizes, profiles, and dimensional requirements of signs and are based on the specific types and models indicated. Sign units by other manufacturers may be considered provided deviations in dimensions and profiles do not change the design concept as judged by the Architect. The burden of proof of equality is on the proposer. 1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS: A. Field Measurements: Take field measurements prior to preparation of shop drawings and fabrication to ensure proper fitting. Show recorded measurements on final shop drawings. Available Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, manufacturers offering products that may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the manufacturers specified. 1. Seton Identification Products. n. Signature Signs, Inc. o. Supersine Company (The). 2.2 MATERIALS: A. Photopolymer Sign Materials: Provide the following materials for photopolymer signs: 1. Sign Face: Polyamid resin. 2. Carrier: Polyester, inch thick. 3. Laminating Base: inch thick phenolic. 4. Painted Sign Finish: Factory applied baked-on-acrylic polyurethane enamel, UV inhibited. a. Colors: Custom colors to match Architect s samples. Reference Sign Drawings. B. Aluminum Sheet and Plate: ASTM B 209 (ASTM B 209M), alloy and temper recommended by aluminum producer and finisher for type of use and finish indicated, and with not less than the strength and durability properties of 5005-H15. C. Fasteners: Use concealed fasteners fabricated from metals that are not corrosive to the sign material and mounting surface Signage H

6 21 VAN DYKE AVENUE HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT D. Anchors and Inserts: Use nonferrous metal or hot-dipped galvanized anchors and inserts. Use toothed steel or lead expansion bolt devices for drilled-in-place anchors. Furnish inserts, as required, to be set into concrete or masonry work. 2.3 PANEL SIGNS, GENERAL: A. Panel Signs: Comply with requirements indicated for materials, thicknesses, finishes, colors, designs, shapes, sizes, and details of construction. 1. Produce smooth, even, level sign panel surfaces, constructed to remain flat under installed conditions within a tolerance of plus or minus 1/16 inch measured diagonally. B. Raised Sign Copy: Raise copy 1/32-inch from plaque surface by manufacturer's photomechanical stratification processes. Uniformly opaque, precisely formed graphics shall comply with applicable ADA regulations including size, style, spacing, content, position, and colors. C. Raised Braille Copy: Raise copy 1/32-inch from plaque surface by manufacturer's photomechanical stratification processes. Uniformly opaque, precisely formed Braille copy shall comply with applicable ADA regulations including but not limited to size, style, spacing, content, position, and colors. 1. Sign manufacturer shall be responsible for translation of sign copy to Braille. D. Backer Plates: Provide inch thick opaque, acrylic backer plates for panel signs mounted to glazing. 1. Color: Match panel sign. 2. Mount sign on opposite face of glazing, behind sign. 3. Size: Same as panel sign. 2.4 INTERIOR PANEL SIGNS: A. Interior, Plaque Sign: 1. Plaque Sign: Signface to be Polyamid resin. Signface to be laminated to a inch phenolic base plaque. 2. Fastener: Double-faced tape. 3. Colors: Selected by Architect from manufacturer's standard colors. a. Characters and background shall be in contrasting colors. 4. Surface Texture: Matte. B. Interior, Non-Tactile Plaque Sign: Signage H

7 21 VAN DYKE AVENUE HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT 2.5 FINISHES: 1. Plaque Sign: Signface to be inch translucent polycarbonate with mar resistant matte finish. Signface to be laminated to a inch plastic base plaque. 2. Subsurface Graphics: Background color(s) shall be subsurface applied to produce vandal resistant finish. 3. Fastener: Double-faced tape. 4. Colors: Selected by Architect. a. Characters and background shall be in contrasting colors. 5. Surface Texture: Matte. 6. Protective Coating: Matte polyurethane coat over entire first surface. A. Colors and Surface Textures: For exposed sign material that requires selection of materials with integral or applied colors, surface textures or other characteristics related to appearance, provide color matches indicated, or if not indicated, as selected by the Architect from the manufacturer's standards. B. Aluminum Finishes: Finish designations prefixed by "AA" conform to the system established by the Aluminum Association for designating aluminum finishes. 2.6 ACCESSORIES: 1. Brushed, Clear Anodic Finish: Manufacturer's standard Class 1 clear anodic coating, mm or thicker, over a satin (directionally textured) mechanical finish, complying with AAMA 611. A. Fasteners and Anchors: Manufacturer's standard as required for secure anchorage of signage, noncorrosive and compatible with each material joined, and complying with the following: 1. Use concealed fasteners and anchors unless indicated to be exposed. B. Room Sign Mounting Fasteners: 1. Fastener: Industrial grade silicon adhesive and inch thick double-faced tape to hold sign in place while silicone cures. a. Drywall surfaces shall have sign adhered to a 1/8" aluminum mounting plate secured to drywall partition with countersunk screws, and into concealed wood blocking backup. b. Signs Mounted on Glass: Provide matching opaque plate on opposite side of glass to conceal mounting materials. Plates to be same size and material as sign. 2. Two-Face Tape: Manufacturer's standard high-bond, foam-core tape, inch(1.14 mm) thick, with adhesive on both sides Signage H

Adhesives: As recommended by sign manufacturer and with a VOC content of 70 g/l or less for adhesives used inside the weatherproofing system and applied on-site when calculated according to 40 CFR 59, Subpart D (EPA Method 24). C. Exterior Sign Mounting Fasteners: 1. Stainless-steel devices unless otherwise indicated. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION: A. General: Locate sign units and accessories where indicated, using mounting methods of the type described and in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions. 1. Install signs level, plumb, and at the height indicated, with sign surfaces free from distortion or other defects in appearance. 2. Mounting Height: Tactile characters shall be 48 inches minimum above the floor, measured to the baseline of the lowest tactile character and 60 inches maximum above floor, measured to the baseline of the highest tactile character, unless otherwise noted for interior signs. B. Wall-Mounted Panel Signs: Attach panel signs to wall surfaces using the methods indicated below: 1. Silicone-Adhesive Mounting: Use liquid silicone adhesive recommended by the sign manufacturer to attach sign units to irregular, porous, or vinyl-covered surfaces. Use double-sided vinyl tape where recommended by the sign manufacturer to hold the sign in place until the adhesive has fully cured. C. Dimensional Characters: Mount characters using standard fastening methods to comply with manufacturer's written instructions for character form, type of mounting, wall construction, and condition of exposure indicated. Provide heavy paper template to establish character spacing and to locate holes for fasteners. 1. Projected Mounting: Mount characters at projection distance from wall surface indicated 3.2 CLEANING AND PROTECTION: A. Restore finishes damaged during installation and construction period so no evidence remains of correction work. Return items that cannot be refinished in the field to the shop; make required alterations and refinish entire unit, or provide new units. B. Touchup Painting: Immediately after erection, clean field welds, bolted connections, and abraded areas of shop paint, and paint exposed areas with same material Signage H

9 21 VAN DYKE AVENUE HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT 1. At galvanized surfaces, apply organic zinc repair paint complying with requirements of ASTM A 780. Galvanizing repair paint shall have 95 percent zinc by weight, ZiRP by Duncan Galvanizing. Thickness of applied galvanizing repair paint shall be not less than coating thickness required by ASTM A 123 or A 153 as applicable. Touch-up of galvanized surfaces with aerosol spray, silver paint, bright paint, brite paint, or aluminum paints is not acceptable. 2. At factory-primed or factory-finished surfaces, touch-up finish in conformance with manufacturer s recommendations. Provide touch-up such that repair is not visible from a distance of 6 feet. C. Galvanized Surfaces: Clean field welds, bolted connections, and abraded areas and repair galvanizing to comply with ASTM A 780. D. After installation, clean soiled sign surfaces according to the manufacturer's instructions. Protect units from damage until acceptance by the Owner. 3.3 SIGN SCHEDULE: A. Designations for sign Types coordinate with graphic layouts are shown in Appendix A at the end of this Section. Three-digit room numbers will be determined during the construction phase. B. Symbols for accessibility shall be sized to be read at a distance of 40-feet. C. Provide the following interior panel signs. Provide one room sign for each new interior door. Final room numbers and identification will be determined by Architect during shop drawing stage.
