1 2016 CALGREEN CHECKLIST FOR RESIDENTIAL ADDITIONS AND ALTERATIONS Per Califnia Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 11, 2016 Califnia Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen) adopted by the City of Rohnert Park on November 22, 2016, Ordinance No. 902, the city's Development Services department has the responsibility to provide oversight and enfcement of construction documents and installation verification, installer and special inspect qualifications, and compliance fms and wksheets. This checklist applies to building permit applications received on after January 1, 2017, f additions alterations of existing residential buildings where the addition alteration increases the building s conditioned area, volume, size. The requirement shall apply only to and/ within the specific area of the addition alteration. Detached U occupancy buildings are not subject to the requirements of CALGreen. Repairs to existing structures are not subject to CALGreen at this time. Existing site and landscaping improvements that are not otherwise disturbed are also not subject to the requirements of CALGreen. Address: Permit Number: Description: Instructions: 1. The owner the responsible entity acting as the owner's agent (owner) shall contract with a third party CALGreen special inspection agency individual inspect (Green Agency), approved and listed by the City of Rohnert Park s Development Services, to perfm CALGreen Inspection services and to verify and assure the owner and Development Services that all required wk described herein is properly planned and implemented during the construction project. 2. The Green Agency shall be independent entities with no financial interest in the materials the project f which services are being provided except f the cost of providing said services. 3. The Green Agency, in collabation with the owner and the design professional, shall initially complete Column1 and Column 2 of this checklist, sign and date the CALGreen Building Acknowledgements fm at the end of this checklist and have the checklist printed on attached to the approved plans f the project. 4. Any additional measures required by Development Services will be indicated in Column Pri to final inspection by Development Services, the Green Agency shall complete Column 4 of this checklist and provide a signed copy of the CALGreen Building Acknowledgements to the owner and the CALGreen Completion and Verification fm to Development Services. 1 of 12 City of Rohnert Park 2013 CALGreen Checklist f Residential Additions & Alterations

Column 4 Verification by a CALGreen Inspect by Development Services as noted below 4.1 PLANNING AND DESIGN Site Development Stm water drainage and retention during construction. Newly constructed projects which disturb less than one acre of land shall prevent the pollution of stm water runoff from the construction activities by complying with lawfully enacted stm water management and/ erosion control dinances. See Rohnert Park Municipal Code Chapters & Description of proposed measure(s) explanation of why it is not applicable (): Grading and paving. Construction plans shall indicate how site grading a drainage system will manage all surface water flows to keep water from entering buildings. Examples of methods to manage surface water include swales, water collection and disposal systems, French drains, water retention gardens other measures which keep surface water away from buildings and aid in groundwater recharge. Exception: Additions and alterations not altering the drainage path. Description of proposed measure(s) explanation of why it is not applicable (): Electric vehicle (EV) charging f new construction. New construction shall comply with Sections and to facilitate future installation and use of EV chargers. Electrical vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) shall be installed in accdance with the Califnia Electrical Code, Article 625. Exceptions: On a case-y-case basis, where the local enfcing agency has determined EV charging infrastructure are not feasible based upon one me of the following conditions. 1. Where there is no commercial power supply. 2. Where there is evidence substantiating that meeting the requirements will alter the local utility infrastructure design requirements on the utility side of the meter so as to increase the utility side cost to the homeowner the developer by me than $ per dwelling unit. 3 Feature Measure 4.3 WATER EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION Indo Water Use Water conserving plumbing fixtures and fittings. Plumbing fixtures (water closets and urinals) and fittings (faucets and showerheads) shall comply with the following: Water closets. The effective flush volume of all water closets shall not exceed 1.28 gallons per flush and shall have a waste extraction sce of no fewer than 350 grams Urinals. The effective flush volume of wall-mounted urinals shall not exceed gallons per flush. The effective flush volume of all other urinals shall not exceed 0.5 gallons per flush Showerheads Single Showerheads. Showerheads shall have a maximum flow rate of not me than 2.0 gallons per minute at 80 psi Multiple Showerheads. When a shower is served by me than one showerhead, the combined flow rate of all the showerheads controlled by a single valve shall not exceed 2.0 gallons per minute at 80 psi. the shower shall be designed to allow only one shower outlet to be in operations at a time Faucets Residential lavaty faucets. The maximum flow rate of residential lavaty faucets shall not exceed 1.2 gpm at 60 psi n be less than 0.8 gpm at 20 psi Lavaty faucets in common and public use areas. The maximum flow rate of lavaty faucets installed in common and public use areas (outside dwellings sleeping units) in residential buildings shall not exceed 0.5 gpm at 60 psi Metering faucets. Metering faucets when installed in residential buildings shall not deliver me than 0.25 gallons per cycle Kitchen faucets. The maximum flow rate of kitchen faucets may not exceed 1.8 gpm at 60 psi (May temparily increase to 2.2 gpm). Note: Aerats OK if complying faucets not available. 4 Feature Measure OUTDOOR WATER USE See City of Rohnert Park Water Efficient Landscape (Note: City WELO Complies with Tier I & Mandaty ) After December 1, 2015,new residential developments with an aggregate landscape area equal to greater than 500 square feet shall comply with one of the following options: 1. A local water efficient landscape dinance the current Califnia Department of Water Resources Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO), whichever is me stringent; 2. s with aggregate landscape areas less than 2,500 square feet may comply with MWELO s Appendix D Prescriptive Option. Description of proposed measure(s) explanation of why it is not applicable (): 4.4 MATERIAL CONSERVATION AND RESOURCE EFFICIENCY Enhanced Durability and Reduced Maintenance Rodent proofing. Annular spaces around pipes, electric cables, conduits, other openings in plates at exteri walls shall be protected against the passage of rodents by closing such openings with cement mtar, concrete masonry similar method acceptable to the enfcing agency. 5 Feature Measure Construction Waste Reduction, Disposal and Recycling Construction waste management. Recycle and/ salvage f reuse nonhazardous construction waste in accdance with Section Suppt documentation required at application submittal. Exceptions: 1. Excavated soil and land-clearing debris 2. Alternate waste reduction methods 3. Isolated job sites Construction waste management plan. Submit a construction waste management plan that: 1. Identifies the construction waste materials to be diverted from disposal by efficient usage, recycling, reuse on the project salvage f future use sale. 2. Determines if construction waste materials will be sted on-site bulk mixed. 3. Identifies diversion facilities where construction waste material collected will be taken. 4. Identifies construction methods employed to reduce the amount of construction and demolition waste generated. 5. Specifies that the amount of construction waste materials diverted shall be calculated by weight volume, but not by both Waste management company. Utilize a waste management company that can provide verifiable documentation that the percentage of construction waste material diverted from the landfill complies with A Tier 1(see below). Note: The owner contract shall make the determination if the construction waste material will be diverted by a waste management company Waste stream reduction alternative. s that generate a total combined weight of construction and demolition waste disposed of in landfills, which do not exceed 3.4 pounds per square foot of the building area shall meet the minimum 65 percent construction waste reduction requirement in Section Waste stream reduction alternative. s that generate a total combined weight of construction and demolition waste disposed of in landfills, which do not exceed 2 pounds per square foot of the building area shall meet the minimum 65 percent construction waste reduction requirement in Section Documentation. 6 Feature Measure Building Maintenance and Operation Operation and maintenance manual. At the time of final inspection, a manual which includes all of the following shall be placed in the building: 1. Directions to the owner occupant that the manual shall remain with the building throughout the life cycle of the structure. 2. Operation and maintenance instructions f; equipment and appliances, roof and yard drainage, space conditioning systems, landscape irrigation systems, and water reuse systems. 3. Infmation on local recycle programs and locations. 4. Public transptation and/ carpool options available in the area. 5. Educational material on the positive impacts of interi relative humidity between 30-60%. 6. Infmation about water-conserving landscape and irrigation design and controllers which conserve water. 7. Instructions f maintaining gutters and downspouts and imptance of diverting water at least 5ft. away from the foundation. 8. Infmation on required routine maintenance measures including caulking, painting, grading around the house, etc. 9. Infmation about state solar energy and incentive programs available. 10. A copy of all special inspection verifications required by the enfcing agency this code. Description of proposed measure(s) explanation of why it is not applicable (): Recycling by occupants. Where 5 me multifamily dwelling units are constructed on a building site, provide readily accessible areas that serve all buildings on the site and is identified f the depositing, stage and collection on non-hazardous materials f recycling, including (at a minimum) paper, crugated cardboard, glass, plastics, ganic waste, and metals meet a lawfully enacted local recycling dinance, if me restrictive. 7 Feature Measure 4.5 ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY Fireplaces Fireplaces. Install only a direct-vent sealed-combustion gas fireplace. Wood-pellet stove shall comply with EPA New Source Perfmance Standards (NSPS) emission limits as applicable, and shall have a permanent label indicating they are certified to meet the emission limits. Woodstoves, pellet stoves and fireplaces shall also comply with applicable local dinances. Description of proposed measure(s) explanation of why it is not applicable (): Pollutant Control Covering of duct openings and protection of mechanical equipment during construction. At the time of rough installation, during stage on the site and until final startup of the HVAC equipment, all duct and other related air distribution component openings shall be covered with tape, plastic, sheetmetal other methods acceptable to the enfcing agency to reduce the amount of water, dust and debris, which may enter the system. Description of proposed measure(s) explanation of why it is not applicable (): Adhesives, sealants and caulks shall be compliant with VOC and other toxic compound limits in CALGreen Table as applicable. Concrete slab foundations required to have a vap retarder by the Califnia Building Code, Chapter 19, the Califnia Residential Code, Chapter 5, shall comply with this section Capillary break. A capillary break shall be installed in compliance with at least one of the following: 1. A 4 thick base of ½ larger clean aggregate w/vap barrier in direct contact with concrete 2. Other methods approved by the enfcing agency. A slab design specified by a licensed designed professional. 9 Feature Measure Moisture content of building materials. Building materials with visible signs of water damage shall not be installed. Wall and flo framing shall not be enclosed when the framing members exceed 19% moisture content. Moisture content shall be verified in compliance with the following: 1. By a probe-type contact-type moisture meter other equivalent methods approved by the enfcing agency. 2. Readings shall be taken at a point 2 ft. to 4 ft. from the grade stamped end of each piece to be verified. Minimum 3 random reading shall be perfmed on wall and flo framing with documentation provided to enfcing agency. Description of proposed measure(s) explanation of why it is not applicable (): Indo Air Quality and Exhaust Bathroom exhaust fans. Each bathroom shall be mechanically ventilated and shall comply with the following: 1. Fans shall be ENERGY STAR compliant and ducted to terminate outside the buildings. 2. Unless functioning as a whole house ventilation system, fans must be humidity controlled. Controls must be capable of adjustment between a humidity range of 50-80%. Humidity control may be a separate component to the exhaust fan and is not required to be integral built-in. Note: 1. F the purposes of this section, a bathroom is a room which contains a bathtub, shower, tub/shower combination. Lighting integral to bathroom exhaust fans shall comply with the Califnia Energy Code. Heating and air-conditioning systems shall be sized, designed and have their equipment selected using the following methods: 1. Establish heat loss and heat gain values accding to ANSI/ACCA 2 Manual J-2011 (Residential Load Calculation), ASHRAE handbooks other equivalent methods. 2. Size duct systems accding to ANSI/ACCA 1 Manual D 2014 (Residential Duct Systems), ASHRAE handbooks other equivalent methods. 3. Select heating and cooling equipment accding to ANSI/ACCA 3 Manual S 2014 (Residential Equipment Selection) other equivalent methods.
