2 2 WIND- AND RAIN-TIGHT EXTERIOR The outer shell must keep out rain, wind and snow, like a waterproof rain jacket. ISOCELL s well-engineered products help you keep out wind and adverse weather. OMEGA roof underlay and façade lining are rain-tight and vapour permeable. Water and fine snow roll off, water vapour can escape from the interior. AIR-TIGHT INTERIOR Structural damage Loss of energy Draughts Whereas the construction s exterior must be protected from the effects of the weather, on the interior the focus is on prevention of humidity ingress into the construction and the insulation. The air-tight layer is always on the so-called warm side of the outer construction components. The interior plastering usually adopts this function in solid constructions, but in wooden constructions e.g. vapour permeable sheets are used. There are standards and guidelines relating to the completion of a building s air-tight shell.
