EPC Services Engineering, Procurement, Construction Turn-key EPC Projects UGE offers turn-key EPC services, managing project execution from start-to-finish for developers for project owners. Our in-house engineering team sets the standard for quality by assuring that every project is structurally and electrically sound throughout its operating life. Our in-house procurement team only purchases the best equipment, screening all of our manufacturing partners based on rigorous criteria to secure the highest quality equipment for the lowest price. By managing project construction, UGE ensures every project is efficiently installed and held to UGE s standards with a track record of customer satisfaction. Full Turn-key Services Equipment Evaluation and Procurement Construction and Contractor Management System Commissioning System Monitoring Example of Turn-key EPC Project Carbon Free - Upper Canada College LOCATION Toronto, Canada SYSTEM SIZE 240 kw DC PROJECT TYPE Ballasted fix-tilt Rooftop PROJECT SCOPE EPC Turn-key Upper Canada College wanted to install rooftop solar and contacted CarbonFree Technology, a partner of UGE. Together they developed a solar rooftop solution which would support the Métis Nation s focus on reducing their carbon footprint.

Engineering and Design Solar Array Layout and Optimization UGE designs the most effective cutting-edge solar solutions for clients with an experienced, multidisciplinary engineering team. Our comprehensive design analysis and design drawing packages set the bar for quality in the solar PV industry. Our legacy of customer satisfaction in the design and engineering of ground-mounted, roof-mounted, and carport integrated PV systems is evidence of our performance. Grounding Plans and Studies (GPR) Complex Grid Interconnection Design Coordination and Arc-Flash Studies Medium Voltage Collector Design Performance Monitoring/PMRS Design Project Retrofit Design Electrical, Civil, Geotechnical and Structural Design In-house Engineering Team: Example of Engineering and Design NABCEP Certified Engineers Multidisciplinary Team Licensed Professional Engineers Sandringham/Woodville Solar Farms LOCATION Kawartha Lakes, Canada SYSTEM SIZE 25MW (2 sites) PROJECT TYPE Utility Scale Ground Mount PROJECT SCOPE Engineering, Project Management UGE provided comprehensive engineering design services for two large solar systems. UGE addressed the developer s desire to maximize project energy yield. The solution allowed the developer to meet project size targets without compromising important habitat lands nor impacting constructability or system costs.

Case Studies Overview Christian Cultural Center (CCC) Location: New York City, USA System Size: 260 kw DC Project Type: Ballasted Rooftop Scope: Commercial Turn-key EPC Challenge UGE s Approach Value to the Client Client is subject to expensive and volatile electricity prices, which can spike more than 100% month to month. They wanted to reduce their bills and make it easier to budget their operational expenses. UGE value engineered a ballasted rooftop solar system to fit the client s requirements. Utilizing CCC s sizeable rooftop as one of the largest independent churches in the United States, The system is financed through a power purchase agreement, requiring no upfront investment by the client. CCC saves $35,000 annually through solar on electricity costs compared to their original, much higher rate from the grid and reduces exposure to volatile energy prices.

Solar Gardens (Spark Power / Sculler Energy / Fritzall Construction) Overview Location: System Size: Project Type: Scope: Timiskaming, West Nipissing, Picton, Canada 19 MW DC (33 sites) Ground-mounted dual-axis tracker EPC and Electrical Engineer-of-Record Challenge UGE s Approach Value to the Client One of the toughest challenges faced on this portfolio was grid protection and control design and implementation as required by the utility. Due to site remoteness, as well as challenging elevation profiles between project locations and utility transformer stations, fiber optic connections were cost prohibitive and direct point-topoint microwave communication was very difficult to establish. UGE provided comprehensive design and project management services for two large solar portfolios utilizing dual-axis trackers. Services provided include energy yield analyses, optimized system design, medium voltage project engineering, procurement, and regulatory consulting. UGE designed a wireless telecommunication network, allowing for a cost efficient and optimized method for the utility to control the solar PV grid interconnections; a design which now serves as the template used by the utility for all similar projects going forward. affairs. The client was able to meet utility interconnection requirements with minimum capital spending by sharing wireless protection and control infrastructure between project sites. Case Studies

Nature s Spring Overview Location: System Size: Project Type: Scope: Cebu, Philippines 475 kw DC Flush Mount Rooftop Commercial Turn-key EPC Challenge UGE s Approach Value to the Client Faced with some of the most expensive electricity in Asia, Philippine Spring Water Resources, Inc. ( PSWRI or Nature s Spring ) sought a partner to reach their twin goals of cost savings and environmental stewardship. With local and international experience, UGE was the obvious choice to deliver the project on time and under budget. UGE provided a true turn-key solution, from initial client consultation through construction, system commissioning and workforce training for the client s maintenance staff. The on-site solar system will provide energy to the facility for the next 25+ years at a rate 70% lower than buying from the local utility. UGE s expert team exceeded expectations and will install additional systems at PSWRI s other locations around the country in 2017 and Case Studies

Sunny Shores Solar Farm Overview Location: System Size: Project Type: Scope: Picton, Canada 14 MW DC Utility scale ground mount Engineering, Project Management, Full Engineer-of-Record Challenge UGE s Approach Value to the Client The developer had procured a very large project site and wanted to maximize the energy yield of the plant, however a low lying region in the middle of the site limited options due to frequent flooding during spring runoff. UGE maximized buildable area on the site by redirecting runoff through a culvert. UGE s design optimized the DC:AC ratio, minimizing the components and boosting project returns. The developer was able to fully utilize the vast project site and maximize their project investment. Case Studies

Overview CA Rich Location: System Size: Project Type: Scope: New York 121 kw DC Ballasted Rooftop Commercial Turn-key EPC Challenge UGE s Approach Value to the Client CA Rich, an environmental consultancy, wanted to maximize the system for their roof space and take ownership of the electricity costs. CA Rich provides businesses with customized environmental solutions and wanted help in generating clean renewable energy which will further boost their suitability profile. UGE completed a 121kW rooftop solar installation for CA Rich in Plainview, NY. UGE managed the entire process from initial client consultation through construction, system commissioning, and monitoring the production. CA Rich was able to increase energy security at their headquarters in Long Island, make the cost of energy more affordable and engraining a culture of environmental stewardship at the consultancy. The project increased UGE s experience with the utilities and solar incentives of NYC. Case Studies
