9 MEP Investigation DeSimone s Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineers and fire protection engineers have a thorough understanding of building systems, developed through years of design, construction, and investigation of these components for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. Applying this knowledge of building system design and analysis, our team is able to evaluate defects, damage, and failures of MEP components, and provide repair or retrofit solutions, when required.

12 Gualanday Bridge Colombia DeSimone s forensic engineers monitored construction deflection of the Gualanday Bridge, a multi-span, 2,100ft-long concrete structure in Colombia. The scope of services included reviewing data provided by the client, then comparing the data to theoretical deflections. Landmarked Hotel Property Florida, United States A historic 1940 s-era hotel, located in the heart of South Beach, Miami s Art Deco District, was subjected to high winds, wind-driven rain, and flooding during Hurricane Irma. DeSimone was tasked with differentiating between preexisting damages and those caused by the storm. Large Power Transformer Forensic Investigation New York, United States Following the failure of a large power transformer responsible for providing electrical power to over 600,000 homes, DeSimone performed a thorough forensic investigation. The scope of work involved analyzing the design, operations, and failure of the unit in order to determine the root cause of the failure. Port Facilities US Virgin Islands Over 120 commercial, industrial, and residential properties were devastated by hurricanes including airports on St. Thomas and St. Croix, cruise ship terminals on St. Thomas and St. John, as well as numerous retail locations. DeSimone s forensic experts performed primary triage and documentation of critical locations identified by the client. Hydroelectric Power Plant Colombia A Colombian hydroelectric power plant suffered a 14-hour fire that originated inside a transformer and spread to two other transformers, the power house cavern, and the first high-voltage cable shaft, reaching the cable trenches of the electric substation. DeSimone performed a review that included a determination of the extent and nature of required structural and civil repairs to the plant. Cement Facility Texas, United States A cement port terminal located in the southern United States suffered flooding during Tropical Storm Harvey. DeSimone was brought in by the client to document and analyze flood and barge impact damage to various structures and equipment on the property.
